Chapter 11

758 Words
“With or without my brother… you’re mine.” Those were the only words I needed to hear to know I would never again doubt Wyatt as my mate. Amethyst purred in satisfaction, making me feel more content than I had in days. “Wyatt… what do we do now?” “Well, for tonight, I think we stay here. Alpha Michael has offered us a room for the night. Tomorrow, we’ll head back to High Noon Pack.” I nodded, though a knot of anxiety twisted in my stomach. Tomorrow, I’d be entering my new pack for the first time—as their Luna. We are ready, Amethyst said firmly, her confidence trying to settle my nerves. “Little wolf, I can feel the tension in your body. Don’t be nervous. High Noon is a very accepting and diverse pack. They will love you.” I smiled and buried myself deeper into Wyatt’s embrace. “I think I’m ready for some food and sleep,” I said, exhaustion thick in my voice. “That sounds perfect to me, my Luna. We’re staying in the third room on the fourth floor. I’ll fetch someone to get us some food and meet you up there.” Wyatt peppered my face with kisses before finally peeling himself away. We left the room side by side, making soft small talk until we reached the elevator. I stepped inside and pressed the button to our floor, watching as Wyatt disappeared around the corner. I was so deep in thought that I didn’t even hear the sharp click of heels behind me. “Don’t think that just because some pea-brained Alpha is dumb enough to take you as his mate that you’ll ever be more than an omega servant.” Chastity’s voice dripped with venom, her jealousy practically radiating off her skin. Anger ignited in me, fast and hot. I didn’t care what she thought about me—but to insult my mate? “Chastity, I genuinely hope you find your mate so maybe you’ll quit being such a spiteful bitch.” A flash of white-hot pain exploded across my cheek as she slapped me. I stumbled back in shock—not just from the sting, but from my own reaction. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d lost my temper so easily. It wasn’t like me. “SHUT YOUR MOUTH, YOU LITTLE w***e OMEGA!” she screeched, her voice echoing down the hallway, making my growing headache throb. Before I could respond, Alpha Michael slinked out of the shadows like a predator catching wind of prey. “Chastity, leave. Now. You will not disrespect the Luna of another pack.” His voice was cold. Precise. Mechanical. “But Daddy, she was being so mean! She should know her pla—” He turned to her sharply, his dark eyes like voids, swallowing the hallway’s light. “I don’t give a damn. Leave now, if you know what’s good for you, child.” Chastity’s eyes welled with tears as she spun and fled under her father’s wrath. The elevator dinged behind me, snapping us both to attention. I bowed my head deeply. “Alpha Michael, I apologize for the outburst. Please allow me to take my leave. Alpha Wyatt is waiting for me in our guest suite.” Silence stretched for a moment as his gaze raked over me. There was something in his eyes I couldn’t place. Unease, perhaps. Possession? “Ginger, I apologize for Chastity’s behavior. I hope this little incident won’t bar future alliances with your new pack. Please remember us in your new home—and may the Goddess bless your travel.” He brushed past me, and my skin crawled. His words were carefully chosen, but the discomfort in his tone couldn’t be hidden. He didn’t want me to leave—but I didn’t know why. It wasn’t illegal for omegas to leave the pack… just uncommon. Shaking off the unease, I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button. I practically ran to our suite and locked the door behind me. “What took you so long?” Wyatt asked from the bed, surrounded by a rainbow of snacks. “Sorry—I ran into one of my friends and we got to talking,” I said with a smile, hoping he wouldn’t question it. I didn’t want to mention Alpha Michael—not yet. “Alright, well… I didn’t know what you’d be in the mood for, so I just got a bit of everything.”
