9. A New Friend

2307 Words
Cheyanne I can honestly say that I have found a friend in Noah. I've never had friends before because I normally spend all my time with Michael. I had no social life, but he did. Had I known that he was like this, I wouldn't have been standoffish to other females that wanted to be my friend. That doesn't matter though. What is to be, must be. If I was to have friends, I would've had them. Besides, I've got Noah now. He was so cool and funny. I've been spending a lot of time with him lately. As friends. He's been taking me everywhere in his spare time, trying to get me to be his wing woman. We were supposed to go to an event tomorrow. He wouldn't tell me where we were going, but he told me to dress nicely. I hope it's nowhere where rich, stuck up people are going to be. I can't deal with that. Anyway, we're meeting up tonight for burgers, my treat. I insisted because he was always the one paying. And even though he didn't mind, I didn't want him to think that I was using him for his money, or wanted to be his friend because of what he could buy me. I got off the bus and walked onto the campus, already tired and wishing that the day would be over. I just had two morning classes today. After I'm finished, I'll go to Jimmy's to do an early shift. I've exchanged my shifts a lot lately, to spend time with Noah. The girl I exchange them with doesn't seem to mind though. You are more likely to get more tips in the night and it seemed that was what she wanted. I was not doing too badly. All my fees were paid as I was about to graduate in less than two weeks. All of next week was reserved for exams. Tomorrow night will be the last night going out with Noah until my exams are over. Noah enjoyed my company as I did his. He would find every little chance he could get to spend with me. Even if it was just five minutes. He said I was the sister he never had. I appreciated him considering me as family in the two weeks we've been hanging out. I feel like I've known him forever. Enough about that. I took my classes and left for work. I haven't talked to Michael since his little stunt. I told Jimmy about it and he tried to put us on separate shifts, which I appreciated very much. I was bound to run into him today though, since I changed shifts and I am dreading it. I can't deal with his ignorant *ss. He's been giving me some weird looks when we run to each other. I just carry on and pretend I don't see him. He loves it when I give him attention, which I won't. I can tell that he's also pissed off when I ignore him, but guess what? I don't give a f*ck. The way he was acting made it easier for me to get over him. I'm so over him right now, I don't even feel that I ever really loved him. I ignored him and his b*tch. Clingy much. I bet she was there every time he was. I don't blame her though. If I had kept an eye on him once in a while, I would maybe have picked up the signs that he was cheating. Then again, I wouldn't want to be in a relationship where I had to watch my partner and there was no trust. At the end of my shift, Noah came to pick me up. I told him to come and have a seat inside, while I get changed. On seeing him, I greeted him with a hug. I then left to change. When I came out of the changing room, I ran into Michael. Seriously? Not him again. Couldn't he change his approach? "You better keep your hands to yourself this time, or I'm going to break them off." I quickly told him. "So you've moved on?" He asked, ignoring my statement. "So what if I did? Haven't you moved on too? Please stay out of my business." I said, getting angrier. "You have something that belongs to me. Something that I have waited so long for. If you give it to any other man, I will be really pissed off." He said, seriously. "What?" I asked, confused. What the hell was he talking about? Then it dawned on me that he was talking about my virginity. "The chance for you to f*ck me has already passed. You will never get a chance with me ever again. As a matter of fact, as soon as I graduate, I'm giving it away." I said, storming off. "Can't say I didn't warn you, b*tch." He said before I was out of earshot. "F*ck you!" I shouted back. This f*cker makes me want to commit murder. I've never had an evil thought about someone before, but he's making me change my mind. Noah saw me looking pissed and knew that I was in a foul mood. He walked over to me. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Some i***t pissed me off, but I dealt with him." I said. "Are you sure?" "Yes, now let's go." I grabbed his hand, dragging him out. I could feel someone's eyes boring through the back of my head. I looked back to see Michael glaring at me. I smiled and flipped him my middle finger. I enjoyed my time with Noah, as usual. We ate to our hearts' content. Noah then dropped me back home. I only had one class tomorrow and it was my day off, so I had plenty of time to prepare for my night out with Noah. If a time comes that I can't hang out with him, I'm going to feel very alone. The next day, I did my one class and went straight home to groom myself for later. I still didn't know where Noah and I were going, so I wanted to look good. I took a short nap. When I woke up, I realized that I only had two hours before Noah came to pick me up. I filled the bathtub with water and added a bath bomb. I then stripped my clothes and sat in the tub, letting the warm water relax me. I soaked my body for half an hour. I got out and wrapped a robe around my body. I went inside my room and decided that I would wear my natural curls. I damped my hair, got my curly hair serum and applied it to my almost wet hair. I would make it dry naturally to get the effect that I was looking for. I tied it back a little, so that I could do my make-up without any issues. I went for a natural glam look. And you know I can't do without my cherry lip-gloss. It made my natural lips look flawless. I settled for an emerald green, knee-length, tight-fitted cocktail dress with a high split. It was simple, yet elegant and sexy. It could work for any event. My silver nude heels would work perfectly with it, along with a silver necklace. I was gonna keep it simple. I decided to down two shots to take the edge off. I was a bit nervous. Noah knocked on the door. Perfect timing. I opened the door and greeted him. "Hey Noah. Come in. I'll go and grab my purse." I turned and walked away, but realized Noah wasn't following. When I turned around, he was completely dazed out, looking at my body. I walked back to him and snapped my fingers in front of his face. "Wow! You had me speechless there for a second. You look amazing." He grabbed my hand and twirled me around. I blushed. He always told me that I was pretty, but the way he was doing it tonight was so extra. "Thanks, Noah. Now let me get my sh*t." I got my silver purse and phone and left with Noah. "Still not telling me where we are going?" I asked. "We're going to an office party." He said. "Is it at your office?" I asked. "No." That was all he said. I listened to the radio, singing along to the songs for the rest of the journey. When we arrived, I looked up at the building. It read; L. Hudson & Associates. He escorted me out of the vehicle and into the building's lobby. There were people going inside. They were dressed nicely and I thanked God that I decided to follow my mind and dress up a bit. We took the elevator up to the fifth floor. There were six floors in this building apart from the ground floor, so I was assuming that the sixth floor was for the owner or CEO. The elevator dinged and opened. We were immediately greeted with music. People were eating and conversing. As soon as Noah and I walked into the room, people started to flock around him. And by people, I mean women. They looked like they would eat him up if he wanted them to. I laughed internally, because he already looked annoyed. I guess it was a regular occurrence for him. He said it wasn't his office, but he definitely knows the people around here. We socialized for a bit and he got me some alcohol. I was getting comfortable, until I heard a very familiar voice. "Goodnight everyone. It's time to start the games." Lucas. It then hit me. L. Hudson. Lucas Hudson. Sh*t. I slowly turned around and there he was in his suit, with a gorgeous woman on his arm. She was cut out of a magazine. Which man wouldn't want to be faithful to a woman like that? I still haven't told Noah what went down between us. I didn't think that it was necessary, but if I had, I don't think he would've brought me here. His eyes swept over the people that were present. He looked past me, and then did a double take. He wasn't expecting me to be there and neither was I. I needed to tell Noah what happened. Speaking of the devil. He came and wrapped his arm around my waist. Lucas was still watching our movement with a pissed-off look on his face. I guess I was intruding. But it wasn't my fault. i was invited. I tip-toed to whisper in Noah's ear. "Why did you bring me here? I think your friend might be upset about it." I told him. "Why would he be upset? I always take a date because I don't participate in the games and I don't want to feel lonely." He said. Well, here goes nothing. "Something happened." I said. "What happened?" He asked. "I kind of kissed him." "When did this happen?" He asked, stunned. "The night we all met. My ex nearly--- He saved me and I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that I kissed him." I said. "Did he kiss back?" He asked. "He did at first, then he pushed me away." I told him truthfully. "He did?" He asked, surprised. "Yes." "He's never looked at any other woman, let alone allow them to kiss him or kiss them back." He said. " Well, it was unexpected, but can we stop talking about it? Please." I said. "Sure. But you should've told me." We chatted as the games were being played. I'm not going to lie. Despite the fact that Lucas was glaring at me every chance he got, I was really having fun. His girlfriend was too immersed in the games to notice. I couldn't do it anymore, so I got up and walked to the ladies' room. I retouched my make-up and used the bathroom. I walked out and was going back to join Noah when I felt a hand pull me inside a room. It looked like a boardroom or something of that sort. Lucas. Sigh. "What the f*ck are you doing here? I told you I had a girlfriend." He asked, with a venom-laced voice. "Don't flatter yourself. Noah didn't tell me where he was taking me. Had I known it was here, I wouldn't have come." I spat. "So you and Noah are a thing now? You kissed me and now you're with him. typical wh*re move." I slapped him. "How dare you call me a wh*re and you don't know me." I said angrily. He rubbed his jaw. "You're acting like one. I bet Noah has already got inside your pants." He said. "Not that my s*x life is any of your business, but I'm still a virgin." I walked off, leaving him, stunned. I needed to get out of here. I opened the door and his girlfriend was just standing there. "What's going on here?" She asked. I was pissed, so I answered her in a way that I maybe shouldn't have. "Ask your man. He was the one that pulled me inside here." I walked off, not waiting for a response. I grabbed Noah's hand, dragging him towards the elevator. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing. I just need to go. I'm tired." Tired of bullsh*t. he didn't buy it, but agreed nonetheless. He dropped me at home and I was happy to be in familiar territory. I changed and sat thinking about tonight. Men were sh*t. Except for Noah. He was awesome. I was pissed now, but decided that they weren't worth my energy and so I stopped thinking about them. Tomorrow will be a new day and I will start it with the best attitude.
