The clock ticks; its past midnight. Everyone's asleep. The busy, bustling cars no longer run on the streets. Everything is still and peaceful, as the moon floats in the dark, starry sky. The freezing wind blows through town. The rain gently falls on the trees and plants, they sway in the wind and flap due to the raindrops.
Amidst this silence of the evening, two boys, both with distinctive looks, yet so alike are chasing each other. They both race with each other, as if their lives are depending on it. Slipping from time to time, but neither of them is willing to give up.
"Stop!", Screams the boy with a grey hoodie, though it seems darker as an effect of the clouds covering the bright moon. He has a thin physique, with facial features that are more on the softer side. Pale skin accompanied by black hair and dark eyes that are full of kindness and heart.
"Don't do this, Mom's going to kill you!" he screams at the top of his lungs.
The rain gets even stronger, it pours as if the heavens are crying for the both of them.
They both reach a bridge, it wasn't that high, nor was it low, but it's sure enough that you would drown into the raging waters below it. They both pant as they stop at the middle of it, as they both are tired and their hearts are beating at a fast rate from all the running.
The other boy is wearing a t-shirt, overlapped by a jersey. He has cuts and bruises all over his body, not to mention the bandages on his left hand and his all the other scars, regardless of all the flaws, he still looks good. Unlike the other boy, he has more of a fit physique and sharper looking features.
In other words, he's probably the "bad boy" version of the other boy.
After slightly catching his breath, he turns around to face the boy chasing after him.
They both are soaking wet, rain is dripping from their faces and their hands. Their black hair was doused in rain water. Their shoes are wet with water and mud and not to mention their clothes stuck to their bodies like a second skin.
The breeze sweeps the clouds to the side, giving sight to the moon once again and its soft rays descend upon them, despite that, the rain continues to pour. The chilly wind blows upon their skin, giving them goosebumps.
"I've already lost so many people, Kylo. Don't do this!" The boy in the grey hoodie cries out while wiping the rain on his face with his sleeves.
"Consider me as one of 'em." Kylo said with a smirk on his lips and after that he slyly glances at the guardrails.
He looks back at the other boy with regretless, fierce eyes and screams "Goodbye!" still retaining the smirk he had before.
He runs toward the guardrail to jump without any other thoughts. A brief moment after his jump, his brother gains hold of his jersey, resulting them to both stumble. Luckily, they just end up hanging at the edge. Kygo's right hand is holding the edge while his left hand is gripping the hand of his brother. This is surely nerve-wracking for them, well, for Kygo atleast.
"Let me go!" Screams Kylo. He budges as an indication that his brother should let him go and just let the raging waters of the river drown him.
"Stop telling me you want to die and live! Even though we're gonna go through hell after this, atleast we have each other right?" Kygo screams out as he struggles to hold on.
Their grip gets heavier and heavier as the seconds pass. Their hands are definitely on the verge of letting go, yet Kygo was not willing to let go of his brother's hand. Their arms are clearly strained from the weight and pressure, but still, they hold on.
Kylo spent a good five seconds (though it seemed longer because of the circumstance they're in) just thinking if it's worth to live or to give life another shot, that way he can do the things he never did.
Kylo thinks of everything, from when his struggles began to where it would probably end if he just dies right now. From all the memories he holds dear in his heart, to the memories he wouldn't want to reminisce anymore. All the things he never did and the things he could do if only he survives, these things flood his mind to the point that a few tears managed to escape his eyes, though it wasn't noticeable due to the rain.
While Kylo is deciding, Kygo is struggling and trying his best to keep his grip strong enough to hold on.
"Come on! Live!" He shouts at his brother.
After all of these, Kygo decides to live and forces himself to go up. Using all his remaining might, he struggles against the wind and the slippery surface as a result of the rain. Nevertheless, he successfully makes it up and gets to the other side of the rails and also helps his brother up.
"Grab on." He says, as he extends his arm, reaching out to Kygo.
Kygo carefully grabs on with his left hand, making sure that he won't fall. That's the last thing he'd want happening.
The rain stops, and the cold wind lessens its fierce blow.
They pant harder than when they were chasing each other, their hearts are about to beat out of their chests while the biting wind is piercing through their lungs as they both are catching their breath.
They're both safe, for now. Even though it's freezing cold and they'd probably get hypothermia.
They fall down to the hard concrete, completely tired.
"Don't do that again, you dummy." whispers Kygo while catching his breath.
Kygo laughs, throwing his brother a sly grin. "I can't promise that but I'll refrain from getting you in danger."
"You're the danger, you know," replies Kygo in exasperation as he closes his eyes and puts his hand on his forehead.
"Oi, don't sleep here you'll die!" Exclaims Kylo.
Kygo laughs as they slowly get back up. They go on their way back home, hoping it's already daytime so that they can feel the sun's warmth.
"What time is it already?" Asks Kygo.
"I have zero idea, but I'm pretty sure we're dead meat once we go home." Replies Kylo as he laughs.
Kygo rolls his eyes as they begin making their way back to their house. They chat as they walk, hitting each other playfully from time to time. Laughters fills the gaps between the lull of the moment.
"You owe me one for saving you," Kygo says as they stroll down the road.
"And I already repaid that by helping you up" He replies in a teasing tone with a smirk once again
The sun is peaking just a little bit, indicating a new day for the both of them.
They both stop at one spot, beholding the beauty of the sunrise as it was reflected by the clear waters of the sea. The wind is no longer too cold and the skies have already cleared up. They let out a smile as if they got away from the most terrible thing that ever happened to them. Or did they?
