'Can I really trust this guy?'Lilian's heart raced as she thought of what could be the problem.She had chosen to attend the event because of Dennis even though she isn't a fan of night parties.

They had barely reached half of the event when the alarm rang. She knew something was about to happen and whatever it is, obviously it couldn't be something good.

"I think I need to know what's going on" , Lilian requested again, this time looking serious as she grabbed her hand from Dennis.

"Trust me,I will explain later but now you need to be safe first", Dennis replied to her in a calm and genuine tone.

Lilian for the first time felt she could trust Dennis. What she saw in his eyes was sincerity and care. She followed him as they made their way through the hallway to the elevator.Lilian could still hear people jubilating as the ladies voices were up in the air. It was supposed to be a memorable day for Lilian as she was hoping to meet Jude Williamson, Dennis' uncle. As an aspiring author, Lilian wanted to meet one of the world's famous authors known for his life changing books. Lilian was a great fan of his books as she's always eager to read about any of his books she hears of. And being friends with his nephew and getting an invite to his new book launch was like a dream coming true for Lilian.

The Williamson's family was a well known family in the nation,known for their wealth and possessions.

The family consists of three successful brothers but one of them turned out to be a serial baby daddy because of his love for women. And this cost him his happiness as rivalry and hatred existed among his children. John Williamson has Ten sons and a daughter. Dennis happened to be the tenth son of the family and their father's favorite. The family wasn't united because they all contested for the throne of the heir to the John Williamson Empire.***

But everything happened so sudden and Lilian didn't set her eyes on Jude Williamson nor take his autograph as she wished for.

They arrived at the parking lot in a jiffy and Dennis flipped open his car door for Lilian to hop in. Lilian was amazed with the kind of car he is using. He was just like some regular guys, simplicity is his definition. She was expecting his ride to be huge; latest and expensive. He opened the door of a white Ford fusion. 'probably one of his errand cars' Lilian thought. She wouldn't have been more surprised if she was brought to the event by Dennis but she chose to come all by herself and she was driven by her friend to the occasion. 'But why would he bring such a car to an event like this which was attended by wealthy people like his family'. The parking lot was filled with different expensive rides. As the party was graced with amazing top people.' Well it's his choice',she concluded within herself and hopped into the car. While Dennis zoomed off quickly like there was an emergency. In no time, they arrived in the city as horns filled everywhere. The roads are alway busy during evening,it was as if people made more sales during evening as most restaurants were still open.

Lilian couldn't stop staring at Dennis, seeking answers to the questions written all over face. Dennis looked more serious concentrating on his driving.

"I will surely tell you everything as promised. You don't have to worry,you are safe with me", Dennis said while still focusing on his driving. It was as if he could read Lilian's mind.

"Sure!!. I can't wait", Lilian replied quickly.

"Should I drive you to my house?"Dennis asked. He wasn't expecting a positive answer from Lilian as he rarely welcomes visitors to his. And being their first time together,he expected her to object.

Lilian kept mute at first, contemplating on whether to accept the offer or not. She didn't want to leave Dennis so quickly,she wanted to spend more time with him. She knew it would be difficult for them to meet again as he's fond of his job. Waiting for Dennis to ask the question again,she felt a buzz on her laps and shook out of fear.

"What's that?", Dennis asked

Looking into her purse,she sighed in relief."it's my phone",she said

"Let me answer this call please, it's my friend",

"Oh sure!! you don't need anybody's permission to do that", Dennis replied jokingly.

*On phone*

"Hey cass! What's up?"Lilian asked.

"Babeee gist Mee how did it go?",Cass replied grinning hard on the phone

"Hmmm…can't talk now,we will talk later", Lilian answered reluctantly

"Oh I understand he is there with you right?. Lots of gists for me. Don't jeopardize your chances sweetie…"**

"Oh my…" Lilian ended the call without wasting much time. She hoped Dennis didn't hear their conversation otherwise it would have been a shame for her.

"Your friend is funny", Dennis said smiling.

"Don't tell me you heard what she said", Lilian said looking embarrassed

"There's no need to be embarrassed. And I'm sorry I listened to your conversation. Your phone was on speaker so I couldn't help it".

"It's my fault you don't have to apologize. I was so stupid to leave the phone on speaker"

" You don't have to be sad, okay. It's cool to have a friend that cares so much about someone, how I wish I had one." , Dennis said in a sad tone

"Why don't you have any?", Lilian asked

"Maybe I am not destined to have one cos I always end up being betrayed. And I don't want more harm cos I'm tired of being f****d up".

" I understand Dennis but not everyone is bad. Humans are not the same,we differ. There are still some people with good hearts out there. You can't survive in this world all alone",Lilian replied

Dennis looked at her and smiled," if only you knew surviving alone has been my resolution right from when I was a child"

"How do you mean?"lilian asked, looking furious. He's not an orphan and he's from a wealthy home. So what did he mean by surviving alone?
