Chapter 8Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Schwartz made chicken salad out of a leftover rotisserie chicken Zach brought Jason from Acme one night earlier in the week. She put it on eight sandwiches and took out a large unopened bag of potato chips and some chocolate chip cookies she made for Kitty the night before. The boys dragged out the cooler and Keith went down to the 7-11 to get two cold two-liter bottles of Coke Zero. They packed up some potato salad and macaroni salad Keith had also picked up, then took two cars to the park.
Zach and Jason sat on the quilt. Keith and Bobby about ten feet away on the grass saying they wanted to give Zach and Jason some privacy. Eloise was in her harness and walking around the park’s perimeter with Kitty happily leading her on.
