The Lantern of Low Hollow “Our time together will change all of time.” Alec I hit the gas. The Storm was an angry torrent of black, swirling in my rearview mirror. The car was faster, and I was able to gain some distance, but the security gate was closed. I slammed on the brakes, and the car skidded to a stop a mere inch from the gate. The Storm barreled toward me down the drive, pulling leaves and detritus from the privet into itself. The gate sensor recognized my car and began to open, slowly. So damn slowly. There was nothing in my rearview now but the Storm. I slammed the gas pedal and squeaked past the gate, which had opened just enough for me to pass, but not my driver’s side mirror.
