Years ago, a terrible rainstorm spread through the glade, and rivers of water washed most everything away. The caterpillow, only a baby, and the chubby red ant, who was just an antling at the time, happened to find each other in the wash. The ant clung to the caterpillow, and the caterpillow clung to the ant, and that is how they kept from being washed away. They grew up, sticking together, never learning how to live in the world alone. The little ant spent most of his days in a cozy, pillowy pile, barely noticeable on the caterpillow’s big head.
