Janus walked towards the building with the small group of police and forensic specialists. At last, he felt like he was doing something useful and wasn’t just a guide to what the killer looked like. Julie had kept her word and released him into Richard’s care, with her father keeping an eye on things to make sure that the young man was treated well. He was now twenty-two years old and unless something went radically wrong, he would wake up the next day as a twenty-two-year-old, and all the days after that until the first of February 2033.
