Chapter 31

1074 Words

Summer’s POV Lena stared at me for another heartbeat before setting her fork down. “No wonder you look like someone who’s just walked out of another universe.” “I feel like I have.” She leaned closer, lowering her voice despite the chatter around us. “Do you realize how big this is?” “I think I’m still trying to.” “Summer.” She reached across the table and squeezed my hand. “People spend years hoping to get noticed by Andrew Knight.” “I know.” “And he personally reviewed your work.” I nodded. “He said my supervisor recommended me.” Lena smiled. “That doesn’t happen by accident.” A laugh escaped me. “I kept waiting for him to tell me he’d called the wrong person.” “Clearly he didn’t.” I shook my head. “I’ve spent the entire morning wondering if this is real.” “It is.”
