Summer’s POV The room suddenly felt smaller. I sat on the edge of the examination bed, my fingers intertwined so tightly that my knuckles hurt. The doctor was preparing the ultrasound machine while the nurse moved quietly around the room. Everything seemed strangely ordinary. The soft beeping of a monitor. The rustle of paper beneath me. The faint hum of the air conditioner. Lena sitting beside me. And yet, for me, this was anything but ordinary. My entire future seemed to be sitting somewhere inside my body. I looked at Lena.
