Chapter 3

1958 Words
Eloa’s POV   Melanie looked at me in a way which was supposed to open all the steel shutters which were till now closed in my brain. Of course something was definitely working but it was my heart, pumping and thumping loudly at the same time. And my brain was on a serious ice freeze. My expression must have alerted her that I was shutting down absolutely and she said,” Babe, not everyone is this cool. I am serious whiz with potions and magic which is the reason I can do this.” “What are you if not human?” I asked her in a clipped voice. I didn’t know how I was supposed to react hearing words from the mouth of my supposed room-mate that I read only in Harry Potter books. “Well I am not sure yet. It will be only clear after the Awakening ceremony is over, but I have a strong feeling that I have blue blood in my veins,” said Melanie as the door to our room burst open and another girl who was slightly older than us came inside like a storm. I did not get a chance to ask what blue blood was. “I heard that you got a psychopath as a roomie???” she asked before she even glanced in my direction and I could only roll my eyes. This was something I have to be stuck here with as well. Melanie glared at the girl and then gestured towards me. “Eloa this is my elder stupid sister Bellamy and Bell, this is my beautiful and sassy roommate Eloa who put Taylor in her place by threatening to cut her up in her sleep,” said Melanie as she still kept glaring at the girl. This girl had brown hair which were more like the shades of mahogany and it looked beautiful on her. “Wow!! They did not say that you were going to be so silent and brooding as well as good looking. And your eyes….oh dear ….it is like amethyst has been set clearly,” said Bellamy as she looked at me as if I were an exhibit in the museum. “You are weird and creepy Bell. Stop spooking her like that. And please close the door. I had enough of chlorine incident for today and I am not very keen on being bombarded by more,” said Melanie as Bellamy swished her hand the door closed with a creak and I had a feeling that my eyeballs might fall off my sockets. Melanie muttered,” Show off,” under her breath while I was positively scared now. “Look here girls, I don’t know what kind of place this is and what kind of things you do but I don’t have any kind of powers of that sort. I mean, I get that this is a kind of Hogwarts only but still, I don’t have any powers at all,” as Bellamy smiled at me and nodded in understanding. “Yeah, that might be also possible but we cannot say anything or sure about anyone until the Awakening ceremony. A lot is going to be thrust on you that evening and then only we can see if you are a vampire or a sorceress or a centaur or might be even a Druid. You will make a beautiful druid. There has been no druids in the Academy since probably the last hundred years and you certainly look the part,” said Bellamy as Melanie rolled her eyes again. But before she could say anything I asked,” All these creatures that you are telling me about, which we read in the mythology and stuff, are you saying that they are real and they are in this college?” “This is not only a college. One part of it is college but the other parts are schools for different creatures who know what they are before the Awakening ceremony. It is different for us, since we are orphans,” said Melanie and I listened to her in wonder. What on earth was going on here? “I get that this is a lot for you to take in so I suggest you read…I mean, you better read well and I got a lot of books which you will need before the Awakening in three weeks,” said Bellamy as she looked at me seriously. “Why do you think that I am Druid?” I asked which a legitimate question was and since I also wanted to know what that actually meant. “Druids are very rare creatures and it is not usually until very late that there powers come to the fore-front but by then they usually are so filled up with the powers of earth that they explode or implode in some way and the earth takes back what it has given someone. There are four kinds, Elemental I mean, the Earth, Fire, Wind and Water and there is also a fifth one but it is actually a fable. No one has witnessed one till now. It is a Soul Druid,” said Bellamy as Melanie coughed. Bellamy looked at Melanie and said,” She has an open mind and I can feel her wanting to suck knowledge. And there is a strong chance that you are also an Empath which is a rare quality, not found usually.” “Why do you think I am that? I mean, what you just said? Empath?” I asked as I felt that the word had hit home inside my heart like a black shard. “I get this vibes from you. Really strong waves emanating from you that you cannot tolerate anyone in pain which is the reason everyone misunderstands you. There is a strong possibility sweetheart that you might be exactly what I am thinking,” said Bellamy as I felt that my heart might stop in fear. “But you said that there were no records of Soul Druid? How is anyone supposed to deal with that? What if I am murderer?” I shrieked as my anxieties soared up through the roof and Melanie glared at Bellamy and said,” I told you to keep your trap shut. Why are you like this? It is her first day here and you are scaring her with all kinds of weird stuff…there has been no Soul Druid ever in the history of any Academy Bell and you know that very well. She can be a vampire for all we know and you are making her all kinds of green with this stupid stuff you spew.” “But you know very well that vampires are not Empaths Mel. And about that I have no doubt. Rest it is going to be settled in three weeks,” said Bellamy with a grin which told that she knew she was right and this scared me even more. I could feel the cold spreading in my arms and my feet and just at that moment I wanted to go home. I wanted to go back to my father’s screaming and my brother’s goofiness and grunting and punching at sandbags when he was all surly and I wanted my Mom’s hugs. I was homesick. “You have made her sick with worry. Look at her, she has gone all pale. Bell, I am warning you, if you want to enter my room then you should know that you don’t need to spew stuff and nonsense at all. Drop the books that you want her to read and then get lost,” said Mel angrily and Bellamy just giggled at her sister’s fit. “Okay. I don’t have more time. I have got this cool Necromancy class where I am gonna bring dead things to life and you both bond, okay? Be good. And Eloa? Stop by my room if you can in the afternoon, I shall give you all that you gotta read. I only hope that you are a fast reader!!” said the older girl with a smirk as she left the room. And the door opened again with a swish off her hand, leaving me open mouthed once again. “Yeah she keeps on doing that since she had the Awakening last year. I mean, she is a bad show off I know but she is also an awesome sorceress so I cannot say that she is a bad egg,” said Melanie as I nodded in understanding. You have a cool sister like that then this kind of fights were bound to happen. “You don’t worry about all that things she said alright? You can be an Empath, that is right but one or the other Empath crops up every three or four years. It is not that weird a quality but they are a moody bunch and they tend to keep to themselves,” said Melanie as she looked at the mirror and then shook her curls. “Green looks better on you than pink,” I said hoping to take my mind of the information overload that had just happened a few minutes earlier. “I know right? Oh my god…you totally get me girl….I keep on telling that i***t Freddie that pink is not a girly colour any longer and it is overrated. You gotta stop saying that pink is best for girls!!” said Melanie as she opened her mouth in mock horror and I laughed at her expression. This girl was crazy but I liked her, she was a good kind of crazy. “Oh I know what you are gonna ask? That who is Freddie? Wait till you meet him, I mean, he is the girliest girl you will be ever seeing in your life. And he does this amazing nail art and make-up so we all get our things done from him and he is the best,” said Melanie as I got that Freddie is the gay best friend that every single girl needs in their life. “I am sure it will be lovely but if we are not having any classes till the next three weeks then who are all the students here that I saw in the corridor?” I asked as fear gripped my heart, since my brain already knew the answer but I wanted to hear it from her since I did not want to think that I was going mad on my first day here. “What students babe? There are no students in the Academy at this time of the year. I mean, these are the times of holidays so everyone will be returning after three weeks. So the only people here are the ones who have no place to leave, I mean, orphans like us and you are an exception. That is why you got stuck with me,” said Melanie with a bright smile. I was losing my s**t. “Melanie, I am telling you, when the Headmaster waved his hand, it was all empty at first and then it was like a haze was lifted and then there were students in uniforms moving about with books. I mean, are you saying that I am hallucinating?” I asked her and this time if she said yes I was going to throw something at her. And she burst out in laughter. “Of course not dummy. God, really you are so gullible. Babe, it is an Academy. The school session and the college session is different. The school starts four weeks earlier than college so thee students you saw are of the school. They still are undergrads,” said Melanie and I heaved a sigh of relief and still threw thee pillow at her which smacked her on the face and landed on her lap. “Ooooowwww!!!What was that for??” she howled. “For making me feel that I am losing myself,” I growled at her and she put up her hands in peace. “Fair enough. Not gonna mess with you again,” said Mel. The rest of the morning was spent in putting everything I had in my luggage in place. It was tiring but by the time it was afternoon I had forgotten all about the Druid business.
