Ava's POV :
The old woman looked at me proudly.
“Yes,” she replied. “They are.All the creatures of this forest like these are my children.”
Before I could fully process her words one of the mice suddenly ran toward me and climbed onto my lap.It looked up at me with bright curious eyes and spoke,,,,
“Hey,which land are you from? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you here before.”
My heart nearly jumped out of my chest.
It… spoke.
As soon as the mouse spoke the others hurried closer, surrounding me and firing question after question with excited voices.
In this place animals could talk… and move like humans.
My lips parted.I was about to answer when the old woman gently raised her hand and stopped me.
“You don’t need to say anything,” she said calmly.
“I already know everything about you…”
With those words she stepped forward.
Her voice sent a chill down my spine.
How does she know about me…?
Fear and confusion twisted together in my chest as I stared at her,my thoughts spiraling into uneasy questions I was too afraid to ask aloud.
_______
I slowly took a seat on the chair. In front of me on the table were so many different kinds of food neatly arranged.
Every dish looked strange and unfamiliar, things I had never seen before in my entire life.
Just looking at them made me both curious and nervous.
Nearby' two rabbits were busy trying to bake a cake together. But instead of working properly they suddenly started fighting with each other knocking bowls, flour and tools all over the place.
The mess grew in seconds.Watching their silly fight,I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.
The old woman smiled calmly and said,
“This is their daily routine. The moment I give them any work they start fighting.”
As the rabbits continued their little war one of the mice quietly ran over and suddenly poured water on their heads. The shock made the rabbits freeze in place.
Everyone burst into laughter and even I laughed until my stomach hurt.
A squirrel then came toward me holding a small bowl of soup with both tiny hands. It offered it to me politely.
I smiled and gently patted its head in gratitude. The squirrel instantly grew shy and lowered its head, making me smile even more.
When I was finally asked to eat I hesitated.Just looking at the strange food made me feel nervous. With an awkward smile, I slowly lifted the spoon to my lips.
The moment the soup touched my tongue,
my eyes widened in shock.
It was unbelievably delicious.I had never tasted anything this wonderful before.
I looked at the old woman in pure amazement and said,
“This is so delicious! I’ve never had soup this tasty in my life!”
Hearing this all the animals became extremely happy.
Their faces lit up with joy as if my words meant everything to them.
While eating, a question that had been bothering me finally slipped from my lips.
“Grandma… how did I come here? I was sitting under a tree then I ate a strange fruit… and after that,I don’t remember anything at all.”
She replied calmly,
“Someone brought you here.”
My heart skipped a beat. I looked at her with curiosity and asked,
“Who?”
Just then,a boy entered the room.
The moment I saw him I found myself staring without even realizing it.He was tall very fair and strongly built.
His body looked fit and powerful. His messy hair fell carelessly across his face and his eyes were deep and unreadable.
Seeing him the old woman smiled and called out,
“Albert.”
So that was his name 'Albert.
He noticed me staring and stepped a little closer.
“Where do you live?” he asked.
I looked at him,but no words came out. Everything still felt unreal, too unreal to believe.
So I remained silent.
Albert was about to ask me something else when the old woman gently interrupted,
“Albert, would you like to sit with us and eat?”
He looked at her and replied respectfully,
“No, Princess Vaelina.”
