FIVE MONTHS LATER
"Hurry up, Vanessa, we're going to be late for graduation," Mary exclaimed as she rushed into my room and grabbed my hand. I was in the middle of getting my graduation gown ready.
"Slow down, Mary, it's still quite early," I responded with a chuckle. "I know you're excited."
"I can't contain my excitement," Mary said as she tugged at my arm. "And we promised Laria we'd be there early."
"Right, we can't forget that," I agreed, and we hurried out of the room.
