Four years later.
As I slowly opened my eyes I was immediately blinded. The sun was shining brightly this morning. The vinyl blue curtains were open because I fell asleep watching the beautiful starry sky last night. Plus, today was the first day of summer and I wanted to see the pretty red bird. Every day now for the past week it was one bird that would sit outside my window and hum a tune that was different from all the rest. The sound would be much more profound and louder than the other beautiful birds. It gave me a feeling of comfort and peace. As if the series of unfortunate events that are called my life was coming to an end.
The bird was a majestic red and it always sat outside my window on a branch the ended just before my window. It would sit there to wake me up right before my alarm went off with a lovely comforting tune. Once I was woken up and opened the window it would fly away. Unfortunately, today was not the same. The birds could be heard through the closed window singing their wonderful tunes loudly. But not the pretty one that would sit by window, I could not hear the specific birds tune at all. ‘Maybe it decided to wake someone else up this morning’ I thought.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Ugh I do not want to get out bed. I thought about going back to sleep and skipping class today. Then suddenly I remembered that my last final exam is today “f**k I'm going to be late” I cursed myself. I jumped out of my bed and quickly went to the bathroom. I took a shower and brushed my teeth. With the towel wrapped around me I then went into my room to get dressed. I wore a short sleeve ombre shirt that showed the smallest amount of cleavage as possible. With a pair of black jeans that made the shirt pop just a little bit more. When I was done getting dressed, I went downstairs to the kitchen where I saw my mom, dad, and little sister. They had a huge breakfast laid out already. It was mixed fruit, pancakes, bacon, bagels, eggs, and sausage. But I did not know why they had cooked so much.
They must have saw the confused look on my face and shouted, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” in sync with one another. Damn I totally forgot about my birthday due to me having to take my final exam today. “Thank you, guys. I had not remembered today was my birthday due to my final exam being today. I have been killing myself studying and my thoughts have not gone passed passing the test. I surely apologize but I can't enjoy this breakfast with you I have to go so I can take my exam.” I told them. I grabbed a piece of buttered toast and as I was walking out my mother stopped me.
“Analise!” my mother called. “Yes” I turned to look at her. "Your father and I have some wonderful news to share with you once you return home. We will be having dinner by 7 this evening so please be home by then, also wear something nice we will be having guest over and it is especially important that we all look presentable.” She said with a smile. "Yes mother.” I said as I turned and rushed out the door. 'That was strange’ I thought to myself as I got in my car to go to school. My parents haven't been happy since I was around 13 years old. ‘Maybe it's because today is my 21st birthday and they know that ill finally be done with school soon.’ I started the car and prepared to take the long drive to school.
As I got close started to realize that today would be my last day at Kennedy University. It was named after Florynce Kennedy she was one of the first female lawyers and had started the school for young women. Over time, the school began to open to everyone so now there was as many men as women. I pulled into the parking lot and parked the car as I stepped out, I couldn’t help but notice that it was a lot quieter than normal. I walked in the building and an over-whelming nervousness washed over me. I go to door just in time. “Good Morning Professor Gray” I said with a smile. “Morning. Ms. Davis your just in time I was about to close the door. Please come in and take your seat the exam is about to start.” Professor Gray was a wonderful mentor. She is slightly taller than I am with long black hair. She gives off a pleasant aurora and she has always favored me over any of her other students.
As she closed the door and walked to her desk, she began by telling the instructions to the entire class. “Today I want to start off by skipping our normal class opening and going straight into the instruction for your final exam. As you know we have an hour and a half for you to be in my class and you will be giving an hour to complete the exam in its entirety for those who cannot complete the exam within the hour you may ask for an extension to come in at a later time to complete the exam. For those of you who can finish the exam within the hour you will be asked to step into the computer lab next door until the class has ended. I will be grading your papers as you hand them in so for those who finish and turn in you papers within the hour see me after class for your grades. Now there are two parts to this exam the first half is multiple choice and will consist of 40 questions for these set of questions you cannot use your notes and will be timed at 25 minutes to complete the first half. The second half will be a lot different and for this reason you may use your notes for this section, and you will be timed at 35 minutes. But during the duration of the exam there will be total silence. If you talk you automatically fail and must set up a time after class to re-take your exam.” She starts passing out the packets of paper skipping every other person. She normally does this on test and quizzes though. She does this so we cannot cheat, the questions always differ between the two packets. After she has done passing out the second set of test Professor Gray starts a timer. As she presses start on the timer, she says that we can begin.
