Fresh ocean breeze
Waves crashed
Tide swept in and out
Back and forth
Darkness fell on them as they stared off at the sea for what seemed like hours upon hours. In actuality, it wasn’t as long as they had expected.
An annoying pinch touched her body.
It was dark.
Too dark to really see well.
Madison shooed a crab away that had been digging under her foot.
It appears that they had nothing but time, making them hyper focused on the little things around them. A crab, the sand, the bugs, it was the little things. Before they knew it, time flew. It’s funny how time can sneak away from you when you are stranded on a deserted island.
Ben got up and finally got up, brushed the sand from his leg that had rubbed off the side of the boat and stretched his legs. Arms in the air, he stretched his them too. Muscles rippling with every movement.
"I'm going to use my tarp, rope, and bungees to put a roof over this little boat of ours! Just in case it rains before morning," he stared up at the sky while explaining to Madison energetically!
He was wide awake and a man on a mission.
"I'll help," she tried to get up! Unsuccessfully!
"No you won't," he pushed her down gently by the shoulders; you rest tonight. I’ve got it covered!”
She stared at her throbbing foot. “Damn jellyfish!”
“Stay here!”
"But I need to pull my weight," she added, now frustrated that he wouldn't let her help.
She wasn’t broken!
"You've done enough, Maddy! Let me take care of you," he ordered!
Ben started to wander away from the boat to collect his supplies.
"Ben…!”
“Yes,” he turned around and went back to her. “Do you need something?”
She had forgotten what she was going to say in that moment. She wanted to tell him how appreciative she was. But she also didn’t want to make it more awkward.
She stared at him.
He stared at her.
What was she thinking?
I can’t say what I’m thinking!
She wasn’t to say something . I can see it.
That’s for another time. I don’t know how to tell him with my words. I’m so silly.
He sighed. Then raising his eye brows in the air, he patiently waited. He waited for anything. Any response.
She stared down, tracing her fingers through some sand that had annoyingly landed in the boat. She made eye contact again. He was still staring heavily.
“I was just going to say, please make sure to stock the fire, and make sure to put out the pot, and the cup for rain," she chimed in like a Mother Hen!
He chuckled
"I've got it Maddy," he smiled at her.
She was cute when she was ordering him around...at least he thought so now. He didn't always feel that way. In the past he took her efficiency and need to have everything just so as bossy and controlling.
"Okay," she said in defeated tone. She felt absolutely useless in that moment. She didn't like having to depend on anyone. Even at home, she was always self reliant. She also tried to instill that trend into her kids.
There was still an awkward tension in the air between the two.
After getting things ready for the night, Ben climbed in the blow-up up boat next to Madison. There was only a little bit of room between them, but not very much. There was still a little awkwardness, even now.
They both looked off in the distance toward the stars as they laid there together.
I need to say something, anything to break the silence.
Here goes nothing…
"Here I thought I would miss our tents," Madison's explained! "But this view is incredible!"
But Ben didn’t reply.
Does he not agree.
Maybe this is worse than I anticipated for him.
Finally, after thinking about his response carefully, he followed replied.
"Yes Maddy, you can't get this view back home," Ben added in agreement! "We are lucky to be able to experience it!"
Lucky. Are we really lucky, he thought after his statement. However, he did feel lucky.
"We certainly are! Things could be a whole lot worse,” she smiled at him before gazing back off in the bewilderment of their surroundings.
...................
The next morning came soon enough, and the abundance of bird calls woke Madison up quite early. For sleeping in a blow-up boat, she had actually been quite comfortable that night. She was even able to stay pretty warm.
After looking around, Madison realized why she was so warm and comfortable all night..Ben had snuggled with her unknowingly. He must have thought that she was his Wife, Madison made a mental judgement!
Why else would he have done so?
Madison tried to get up, but his large arm was over her now, and she could now feel something putting pressure on her leg. What was it? Was his leg wrapped over hers? Possibly..
Madison looked down.
Oh my god. What on earth? Clearly Ben still had it in him.
When she glanced down, Madison was excitedly greeted with Ben's unit, now standing at full attention in his jogging pants.
Oh my, Madison thought again in shock!
She even blushed a little.
Madison remembered a time when the two of them would wake up together. Although they dated very young, starting at age 15, the two were intimate not long into their romantic relationship. Ben and Madison grew up just two miles from each other, so the two would sneak out some nights and meet in a beautiful field off a quiet dirt road to be together. Often times they would spend the whole night there and stay-up in each other's arms, having either talked the whole night, or made love the whole night. Either way, it didn't really matter to them, as long as they were together.
They were together again. Somehow it was true.
Waking up from her distant memories, Madison knew that that was all that they were... memories! Shifting slightly, she needed to get away from his hold that he has on her now, both physically and mentally.
She was feeling more than she wanted to for him.
Sliding his arm from her body, she managed to maneuver herself from his grip.
She noted that he did look quite handsome as he slept.
Starting to get up, Madison felt his arm reach around her again. This time the weight of his arm caused her to lay back down.
She was trapped
"I'm sorry we fought, Baby! Let me make it up to you," Ben began to whisper in her ear, as his hands began to roam over her sensitive skin.
He must be dreaming of his Wife now, she was sure of it this time!
Maddy tilted her head to the side and noticed that Ben's eyes were not even open yet. Still, the touch of his hands rubbing her stomach, and him now making their way up towards her chest caused every hair on her body to get the chills, and her n*****s began to stand to attention under Ben's t-shirt.
Say something! Maddy tried to force herself. But her lips were frozen. She couldn’t now, even if she wanted to. She wanted to tell him to wake up, that she wasn't his Wife, but her body became paralyzed. Her voice seized to exist!
She was silent.
Silence
A familiar touch
A mixture of mortification and pleasure and memories
Suddenly, still frozen by the shock, and looking now straight at Ben, his hands reached her breasts.
Slowly, Ben began to hold one in his hand and play with the hardened n****e between his fingers.
However, this didn't last long. Now getting one firm grip, Ben's eyes suddenly opened. He knew instantly that the woman that was arousing him was not his Wife, and he was practically taking advantage of her!
The two locked eyes, and Ben pulled his hand away quickly.
"I'm so sorry Maddy," he said looking at her for forgiveness.
Why isn't she saying anything, he wondered.
Still no words came from her lips.
I want to say that it’s okay, but I can’t.
It was as if she is in a trance.
I broke her!
Shit!
“Maddy! I'm sorry," he repeated. "It wasn't intentional!"
From the continued shock and speech paralysis, a single tear streamed from her eye.
Ben got back down toward her and grabbed hold of her body.
In his arms, she suddenly let it all out and began to cry. Her voice had returned.
Ben was slightly relieved. He hadn’t broken her. But he made her cry.
All Ben could do was keep apologizing and rubbing her hair. He felt terrible. Thankfully he didn't go any further in his sleep. Honestly he wouldn't have known any different if he hadn’t get a good grip of her breast.
Ben knew all too well that Madison's chest was quite larger, firmer, and perkier than his Wife's, given the many times that she birthed children and breastfed them. He could tell just from his touch also, that his grip was not warranted.
Madison was obviously traumatized by his actions, that he could see. He just hoped that she could forgive him.
What have I done, he kept thinking to himself.
However unbeknownst to Ben, Madison was now able to process what had just happened between them. Although she wanted to be able to tell him to stop, that he was making a mistake, that she was not his Wife, she just couldn't. Maybe it was because part of her has longed for that touch from him that she hadn't had for so long.
After they had broke up, all those years ago, she often wondered what it would feel like to be touched by him again. That was what caused her tears...not from pain that he was causing her, but guilt from enjoying his touch!
Madison wiped her tears away, finally able to control her emotions and her body.
“It's okay, really! I'm fine...I know it was an accident," she responded!
Ben sighed heavily.
“It’s not, but thank you,” he said under his breath.
Not really hearing a response from Ben, she tried to get up from Ben's embrace, and from the boat itself, however, when she stood up, she immediately felt the pain in her foot from her jellyfish sting.
“Ouch," she burst out, falling back in his arms.
"Sorry Benny!" Face to face now, the two locked eyes.
"It's okay Maddy...really! Let me help you," Ben added, now scooping her up in his arms and taking her from the boat. "Where do you want me to put you...on the rock by the fire," he asked?
"Sure Benny, that would be good," she said quietly, feeling completely helpless now.
Ben wandered over to the fire area and laid her down gently.
"Let me put some more aloe on your foot," he insisted!
He then dug in his bag for the bottle. Kneeling down in the sand, he gently rubbed the aloe on the bottom of her foot.
"Is that better," he asked?
"Yes, that helps the pain and the itching," she responded. "Thank you!"
He closed the bottle up and replaced it back in its spot within his bag. He liked for things to be organized.
"Are you hungry," he asked?
"Yeah, a little," she admitted, pulling her foot away from his hands.
"Okay; good. I'm going to go fishing then," he announced! "I have a small fishing pole in my bag that I screw together to make a large pole. I also have a few fishing hooks. I'm going to see what I can catch," he smiled got up and walked off, bag in toe.
Madison not knowing what to do with herself, decided to make herself useful, so she made a fire.
About a half an hour later, Ben returned to the campsite.
"Breakfast is served, my lady," he joked as he held up a fish about 10 inches long, as well as a few snails.
"I knew you could do it," she smirked at him!
The two sat together, laughed, cooked breakfast together, and drank water from the evening shower that collected in the kitchenware.
We actually do made a good team, Ben thought.
They didn't seem to fight at all or get annoyed with one another. In fact, it was quite the opposite. They complimented each other.
Madison couldn't think of a better person to be stranded on an island with either... except maybe her family and her Husband. Ben was so helpful and as always, could seem to do anything he put his mind to. He reminded her a lot of Avery in that way.
"I wonder what Avery and the kids are doing right now. Gosh I miss them so much," she said solemnly. She grabbed hold of her locket tightly.
"I know. I often think of Heather and our kids. She must be going crazy right about now! It really was unfair for me to leave her home with all our kids. They can be a handful," he added!
"You did what you thought was right. That is what we both did," she tried to comfort him.
Ben then found himself wondering if this was how well they would have gotten along, if they stayed together in High School, that is.
Stop Ben...stop thinking about such things, he kept reminding himself! Let's just make the best of this temporary situation and enjoy catching up with one another.
Ben felt very confident that rescue would come along sooner than later. So for now, he would enjoy the company of his former best friend.
