When Bruce said, the whole family agreed instantly.
"Yea that is such a big claim!"
"What if she falls??"
Suddenly, Chloe felt her insides begin to tangle in fear. What had she done?. But there was no going back now. She couldn't take back her words now.
"If you manage to succeed, I will eat right from the trash can ha! But if you fail, then you and your family will get kicked out from the Smith household. Deal or no deal?" Bruce pressed on. Everyone gasped at such a deal, knowing there was no way Chloe would have accepted.
Instead, Chloe raised her head up high. "You will eat from trash in front of everyone here, and then fall to your knees and apologize to me for two hours straight! Or at least, until I give you permission to get up."
Everyone laughed out, including Bruce. "But what happens when you fail?"
"I will get kicked out. And my family too." Chloe said bitterly. Lucas better have a plan soon!

At home, Donna began to throw tantrums. "Do you not know what Bruce is planning! How could you agree to something like that!"
"Honey, I love you. But that was just stupid! I didn't think my smart ass daughter could agree to something like that! Obviously, you won't be able to meet this mysterious CEO man. Yet, you agreed to this and want Bruce's wish to come to past??"
Chloe sighed."I know he's trying to kick us out."
"Then why did you agree to that! Huh?" Donna flared."What if our family doesn't survive from this! What will you do then??"
Chloe knew it. She was afraid even if her parents ever reminded her to be or not! But deep down, she found herself trusting Lucas even when she didn't want to. She was about to be embarrassed now, no doubt about it!
If they still remained in the household, although they weren't highly respected, they would still get something out of the inheritance. But being kicked out meant game over. And betting on her family's success felt wrong, there was no going back now.
She decided to be quick so she rushed forward to hug her mother. "Mom, it's okay. I need you to trust me."
Her mother pulled free from her gaze. "How can I? This is bound to fail! Even the top people in the family failed, so what's the guarantee that you will win??"
"Just trust her, mother. Chloe, you need to trust me too." Lucas said as he stepped inside. He walked over to meet Chloe and kissed her cheeks.
Donna raged out. "What the hell! I might be able to trust my baby but how could I trust you! You poor loser. What do you have to offer??"
"I'm afraid to say this but my sweet wife is telling the truth. What do you have to offer us? Nothing!" Victor sided with his wife.
"Enough, both of you! Stop it now." Chloe said.
She looked worried as she turned to face Lucas. "Well, can I trust you??"
"Yes you can. I got a job at Armani company today! And I can get you an audience with the CEO!" He announced.
Chloe pushed him away, while Donna and her husband bursted out in laughter. "What's this you're saying? You're only making it worse!" Chloe spat out then she got angry and walked out. Lucas ignored his in-laws' laughter and mockery and followed Chloe to their room.
"Such a dumb i***t. Always making things worse!" He heard Donna say as he walked past her.
Chloe looked angry as soon as he stepped inside. "What was that? Is this funny to you??"
"It's true! I got a job today. I even bought you a gift to celebrate us, it's not much but it's a small necklace. I got it on credit at a store." He revealed a box with a glinting diamond necklace inside.
Chloe was too shocked but she received it with a smile on her face. "Are you telling me the truth? How did you get a job there!"
Lucas didn't want to spill much, seeing how they had reacted then, they might clearly not believe him! "Long story. But what is important is that I want you to trust me now. I won't disappoint you." He concluded.
The next day, Bruce was with some of his siblings who all hated Chloe and her family too. He was laughing out loud that people began to ask out of concern.
"Sorry, it's just too funny, ha! Chloe is actually going to the Armani company with Lucas! How could she let him trick her into doing this!"
"That's ridiculous then. They never gave us a chance, how could she have a chance at all!" Said one of his brothers, Conor.
"Ikr! It's so funny I can't believe she didn't give up straight away!" Lola, his sister said."It is such a smart idea to kick her out so easily like this, Bruce."
"Thank you!" Bruce gave a fake bow. "There's no way she would be getting any inheritance now, ha!"
All of them in the family had concluded now that Chloe couldn't succeed so it was funny to laugh about her now.
"Hey what if she shamelessly backs down??" Said Conor.
Bruce sneered. "You don't even worry about that. I've got a way for her to fail and get kicked out. Just give me your words that you're siding with me." Bruce, who had been planning a means to kick Chloe out, asked proudly.
"Of course!" They both agreed. "Chloe has embarrassed our family for too long! Once she's gone, we won't be a laughing stock any more." Conor said.
"Yea I agree with you. I'm even more upset with that loser she's married to. They should get kicked out soon!" Their sister added.

As soon as they arrived at the company from the taxi, he turned to Chloe to cheer her up. "I'll be heading to my office because I'm late already. But you, you've got this. Okay?"
Chloe still felt doubts. But she nodded at last. "Okay let's go."
Immediately she got in, she was approached by a slender tall lady. "Hello, are you Mrs Chloe?"
She looked honored and both shocked at the same. "Um, yes." At this time, Lucas was nowhere to be seen again.
"Okay, please come with me ma'am." The lady said, leading her towards the elevator. Deep down, she felt so excited, almost leaping with joy. This was a great sign! Otherwise she would have been chased away from outside. But here she was being led upstairs. Could it mean that there was a bright light waiting for her at the end of the tunnel??
When the elevator door opened, she was led to a bright wide office where a middle aged man sat down. His whole aura spoke of him being some tough important person in the company. He got up to shake her hands, "hi there. I'm Thomas Chanel, the head manager of sales here at the company.
"I will be handing over every sales partnership that will be going on with your firm and ours. Yes, this means the partnership has been granted between both companies!"
Chloe didn't believe her eyes. What??
