Chapter 2

2502 Words
Upstairs at the club, Alexander was unsuccessfully trying to pull the pretty blonde away from him, hoping to make a run after her but by now she may be long gone. After much maneuvering, either he was successful or she'd got the hint that he wasn't interested. "What's wrong with you...?" "Is it her?" She demanded. Alexander didn't feel like he owed her an explanation. "It's none of your business," he says, while he pours himself another drink. "Well if you didn't want me here, you should have said so," the pretty blonde said. But it was to no avail, there was no reason to complain given their relationship and she shouldn't expect him to give her assurance. And he wasn't even listening, his mind was somewhere else thinking...about someone. He couldn't understand why, she was plain compared to what he can get; all the same, he cannot ignore this sensation. There was this feeling like they've met before, is this what they called, love at first sight? No, he just met her, he didn't know anything about her other than her lips were kissable, her hips were sensual. He almost made a fool out of himself, running after a girl. Alexander sin doesn't chase girls, they crawl to him. Nearly, if it wasn't for the pretty blonde who sort of stops him. Oh, the pretty blonde, he'd forgotten about her, he turned around and...she was gone. He would be too, after being completely ignored, he was so lost in his thought, what's wrong with him? Her name...what's her name? If only he knew that, he could look for her. I'll see you again, I know I will, he thought out loud. He left the club, there wasn't anything more for him. Mr. Sin strode to his Bentley, door held by his bodyguard Jack who was also his evening chauffeur when he's in New york. When he arrived at the building and made his way to the elevator, he bid him goodnight and told him he wouldn't need him for the rest of the night as he would be staying in. He entered his penthouse through the elevator with an identification card that you insert as a key. The light automatically went on—the 9000 square foot apartment shows no signs of life, true, he only landed three hours ago, he hadn't even stepped foot there, his first stop was the club, the temperature had already been set on his way yet it feels cold. He took a lukewarm shower, put on his silk navy blue pajama and went to bed-but sleep wouldn't come, he kept tossing and turning until he couldn't take it anymore and went to get something to drink. He crept downstairs, again the light automatically went on but in order to get to the bar, he must enter through the kitchen, which he never used when he's in New York and just in that instance he felt a surge of hunger, he wasn't aware of because of all the fight that's been going on in his mind. He seized a bottle of whiskey, poured himself a glass and drained swiftly. Then another shot and another, until he had finished the whole bottle and snatched another one. Alexander woke up to the sun peeking in through the glass window in the living room— he was on the couch, he must have slept there, too drunk to make it upstairs. He was still sleepy, unable to comprehend anything and it took him minutes before he noticed two empty bottles of straight bourbon whiskey, an empty bottle of brandy, a killer headache and a half bottle of vodka, where he must have reached his limit. He slowly rises to avoid intense pounding caused by sudden movement or light sensitivity and made his way to the master bathroom, took a pain reliever and went back to sleep on his bed. It was half-past ten when he woke up to his phone notification, a text from Jack saying he is in the car whenever he needs him, upon seeing this, he then noticed he had plenty of miss calls from him. He turned and lied on his back, legs splayed out, the bed was too big for only one person and his mind went back to the only person he'd been trying to forget last night or convinced himself too. What's her name? He was trying to imagine it...Carla, no, Stephanie, definitely not, Brooke, although she acts like a Brooke, she doesn't look like a Brooke. He wants to assume something simpler or...sweet. By now his headaches were gone, faced by a new dilemma, he was hungry and there's no food in the fridge, he would have to go get something to eat. He could ask his bodyguard Jack to do it but that wasn't his job, he should have brought his personal assistant along but it was an impromptu visit, in fact, this would give him an opportunity to spot a little someone and call it destiny. For he was sure he would see her again, he got himself ready, he went for casual with Jeans and Jacket paired with sneakers and accessories with an expensive watch, a cap, and sunglasses to avoid being spotted. He made his way to the building's garage and informed the bodyguard that he would be going out alone to evade public attention. He arrived at a restaurant for brunch no later than half-past eleven and ordered their breakfast specialty, egg benedict, bacon, and homemade hollandaise sauce with fresh herbs served into toasted English muffins. A simple breakfast for a simple man, with his disguise he can eat in peace and do a little "I spy" and after he's finished with his meal he would take a stroll down central park but decided not to as it looks out of character and also people might mistake him for a perve. He was through with his meal but while taking a taste of his champagne, he spotted a brunette with a frame resemblance of his haunting mistress, he hurriedly pay and ran out the restaurant hoping to catch her but as the lady turned to greet her friend, he was met with disappointment; even though he couldn't quite make out her face back at the club, he was sure it wasn't her. And then a revelation hits him, what would he say to her when he finally sees her again? Oh hey, I've been looking for you! No, he has to come up with something, something good, a way to keep her close to him. It was Saturday and he gots nothing else better to do, he could have Jack drive him all over the city to look for her but wait, that's insane and Alexander sin doesn't do crazy-well not that way. The walk back to his apartment was short and he made it back and Jack his bodyguard was still in attendance. "Jack, you are still here." "Yes, boss." He contemplated for a second before deciding he would cook for himself. "I need a ride to the supermarket." "Sure, boss," and he briskly opened the car door. After grocery shopping a week worth of food since he didn't know how long he would be staying in New York, he again made his way back to the apartment and dismissed Jack and told him to be here Monday at seven AM sharp to drop him at Sin Media. At the apartment he began working to keep himself busy, Monday can't come soon enough. Later in the evening, around six pm he got started on dinner, pasta, it was easy and delicious. He went to sleep by reciting as many girl names as he could. At midnight, he woke startling from a very bizarre dream about the girl he had met, he couldn't make out her face but in his heart, he knew but as soon he would reach his hand to meet hers, she would disappear. Sunday night was met by the same weird dream and finally, it was Monday. At seven in the morning, Alexander was all set to go and as instructed, Jack was too. By eight Am he made it to a sleek modern building of seven floors. He took the elevator to the seventh floor to the office to meet the president and he knew the man would be surprised, considering there wasn't any notice. And just as he predicted, the president was indeed astonished. The two men talked for a while about life and more business ventures. After a period of talking, Alexander decided to go and stretch his legs and made his way to a vending machine on the fourth floor- he began feeling the impact again- thump! thump! thump! this vending machine didn't have the snack he wanted, so he left and went back to the elevator which was about to close...someone, a woman was in there, he pressed the button, the elevator door slides open again to reveal the women who had been affecting him, holding a file folder under her arm. Her face looks perplexed, did she recognize him? As he sure did, even though she wasn't wearing as much makeup and with the light, he could make out her features— ta-thump! Thump! She was beautiful, she had brown eyes, so common yet it looked exquisite on her...they were kind eyes. Ta-thump! Thump! She looked to be in her early twenties Ta-thump! Thump! He was staring. Say, something i***t, this was the girl no doubt about it, now he needed to make his move. "Hi, you new here?" really, she didn't answer, in fact, she looked furious. "Are you stalking me?" She asks, "you thought I wouldn't recognize you." Shit! He would hope that. That way they could start over. "No, no, no, not at all, I kind of work here," he says, "I'm Alex, what's your name?" Ding! That was her stop, he watched her walk away, the way her hips rock brings a new sensation- his c**k extended towards her. And then he knew, he had to have her. Now that he sees she works at his company, he had advantages. The gods were smiling at him. He studies his next move. Ding! The seventh floor slides into view, he entered the president's office, he would try something but he had to be careful how he proceeds. He settles down, the president was working, looks as if he was double-checking something on his computer. "So, the spring internship begins today," The president looks up from his work. "Yes, indeed," the president says. "Who are the candidates?" He asks The president was both surprised and confused. "Forgive me for saying but you were never interested, what gives?" "I would like to get to know our future employee," the president regards him, "even as an intern they are still the face of the company." "I don't know, HR can help you", he says, "I believe there is an assistant working today." "Oh, okay, do you have an office I could work in." " You're working...here, in this building," the president was even more shocked than surprised. "Well, yeah," he says in a serious tone, "I'm here, I may well get work done." "I want to be just like you when I grow up," the man joked, "Uhm, I'll ring my secretary to find you something." Not a second pass, when a lady in her late thirties appears. "I need you to find Mr. Sin an unoccupied office," says the president. "Sure, Mr. Cole." And not even five minutes have passed since she found something—located on the fourth floor. "Right this way, Mr. Sin," the older lady says, just as they've arrived on the fourth level. Ta-thump! thump! A beautiful lady was passing by on her way to the vending machine and must have heard something that struck her for she came to a complete stop. Alex tread to the office provided to him, which belongs to the head of the creative department, who luckily and coincidentally on vacation; after all, the team was being managed by the head of communication and he would gladly fill for the director. And of course, as soon as he steps in, he was immediately recognized and was met by stares and hushed voices. He settled down in the temporary office and can see a clear view of the office desk cubicles outside, there were still staring but right now he was focused on one thing-—she wasn't back from the vending machine yet, there are only two empty cubicles—which one belongs to her? Now for the second part of his unplanned plan, fill in as the creative director, then he would have to be wholly committed to this and lead them until the director is back—how long? He didn't know, would it be enough time to woo her? Finally, she was back and now it was time for his presentation. He meticulously exits the office and begins his introduction...in an earnest way. "I'm Alexander Sin, some of you may have heard of me," and his eyes fell on the beautiful lady, who was in the third cubicle across from him. "I will be filling in for the time being and would like to personally welcome our new interns," his eyes subtly, all the same, fell on her again. The news must have come as a shock to them, not because they didn't know beforehand as it was unplanned, but it was unheard of for the owner and CEO of the company to be actively present in such a trivial task, nonetheless, be interested in the interns. "So, would the new interns stand up and introduce yourself to me," he genuinely says. Ha! ten points for Alexander Sin and zero for whatever the beautiful lady name is, in that he's about to find out. A guy stands up and introduces himself, he was listening but he was impatient, every now and then, his eyes would flicker to the beautiful lady, who had a look of curiosity. Then the next one, who gave a whole five minutes introduction and like the first guy, trying to be or sound impressive. At long last, the moment he'd been waiting for—. "Hello, my name is Adrianna, Adrianna James," she looked at him, really looked at him, oh that face...is that a look of, oh, I know what you up to?! "And I'm in my last semester of college." She sits down. "Okay, everybody, thank you for the lovely introduction and I'm looking forward to working with all of you." He smiled a handsome devilish smile. His heart was happy and maybe it really is fate after all, for the girl he'd pondered over happen to be interning at his company. Now, he had a name, he was ready to learn everything about her— called it an obsession, for he was undeniably consumed. For whom in their right mind go through all this trouble.
