Well, we are starting Kindergarten he is so very excited he says he feels like all the other little boys and can't way to play on the playground. The year started so well! We registered for karate he loved it and we also registered for t-ball he loved that too. Then the teacher sent a letter home from the nurse he failed a hearing test at school. When I took him to the doctor he was technically deaf. When the doctor asked him how he had been managing he said well I have always been different he said as long as I am looking at people I can see what they say. So the doctor said, "you taught yourself to read lips?" Christopher laughed he said " if that's what you call it doc!" he was such a happy and funny little guy all the time was never down about anything. So now we are having ear surgery. They get in there come to find out he has a birth defect in his inner ear and they felt like he would need hearing aids after his ears healed. It was crazy we went back for his check-up and he was only 2% tone-deaf in both of his ears. Again the doctor had no medical reason for it. I did it was the Grace of God. We prayed for Christopher's hearing and healing and the Lord came through again for our beautiful loving little boy that had so much love and kindness to offer the world. After his ears healed he continued to play ball the area newspaper wanted to come and talk to him they wanted to see the little 5-year-old boy that had taught himself to read lips and continued to play and be happy. No one could believe that he wasn't afraid and wasn't upset and didn't feel sorry for himself the whole time this was going on. It was funny he told the reporter don't worry about God has got me. He smiled and walked away the reporter asked if he could take a picture of him when he was batting he said sure so he did and they put it on the front page. He was so proud of that picture. I always reminded him of what an amazing boy he was. I always told him he was a great example for other kids too. I don't think he ever really believed me.
He would get outside and play with the neighborhood kids if he saw anyone that wasn't playing with the group he would always go and get them and try to make them part of the crowd. He always tried to make everyone feel special. He had an amazing heart all the way from childhood.
At this age, he loved to spend time with my Mom and Dad. He loved going to the shed and learning things from my Dad and he loved playing games with my Mom. He also loved learning to do contract work on homes with his Dad. He was so smart you could show him something once and he could pick it right up whether it was with a hammer and nails or a video game. He loved animals and the outdoors.
One thing I can say he lived life happy and he made others around him happy. By this time we had another child, he had a baby brother Ben he loved his brother he wanted to assist in his care. It made him feel so important to take part in everything he beamed with love with every little thing he did for Ben. I would get up at night and find him all curled up next to Ben in his baby bed. When I would ask him why he did that he would say he made a noise I thought he needed me. They were always so close.
