It was so hard for him he would blackout and have these fits from his head injury. Yet he yearned to be mainstreamed into normal classes. It took a lot of patience and love from the teachers and from the school. He missed a lot of school because of frequent doctor appointments they found excessive white matter in his brain and were concerned that he had a disease called leukodystrophy. It was explained to us that it would eat the covering off the nerve pathways in his brain and that he would die within two years at this time he was fixing to be nine. Needless to say we didn't give up on him and we didn't let him give up on life. We turned to our church elders had hands laid on him and lots of praying done. We finally found a white matter disease specialist and he did not agree with the diagnosis. He said at this time his brain was still too traumatized from the closed head injury to make that determination. He followed Christopher for the next year that is a heavy burden for a child to carry but he did it with a smile. At the age of 10 again by the grace of God he was cleared no leukodystrophy. Christopher continued to speak to DWI offenders and continued to heal. He continues to teach me how to face hard things with a smile and a light heart. No one will ever know what this child brought to our lives.
