"Eve, wake up!" Karen exclaimed, forcefully entering Eve's room and abruptly interrupting her sleep.
"Being an elemental won't bring you any benefits," Ruth remarked, rushing into the room. She went straight to the window, pulling the curtains open, which flooded Eve's eyes with sunlight.
"My eyes! Damn it," Eve complained, while Karen chuckled and pulled her out of bed. Eve observed them as they focused on getting her ready. Part of her felt loved, but another part grew frustrated with their constant insistence.
"You need to get up. We're going shopping," Ruth declared, while Karen frowned at her.
"It was supposed to be a surprise," Karen protested, but Eve laughed and got up from bed.
"I know, but she wasn't cooperating, and look, it worked," Ruth explained, and Karen pouted her lips. Eve smiled at their playful antics; they were the best friends she could ask for. Their assertiveness, mixed with their emotions of fear, happiness, and sadness, were perfectly balanced. She enjoyed their company.
"You're already up. Now you're lost in thought," Karen remarked, pushing Eve gently.
"Okay, okay... I'm going. Can I have some privacy, please?" Eve requested, and they smiled.
"Okay, girl. You got it," Karen replied, raising her hands in surrender. "Let's get out of here," she said to Ruth, and they left the room, gesturing "See you later."
As they departed, Eve collapsed on the bed again, reflecting on her past and how far she had come. She couldn't believe she had reached this point. She shook off her thoughts and undressed, entering the bathroom for a shower.
Ethan strolled through the pack fields, greeted by everyone he passed. He spotted the pack's Beta in the distance and waved at him. The Beta bowed before returning the gesture. Ethan approached him, smiling.
"Why the bow?" Ethan inquired. Every time they met outside or found a quiet place, the Beta would display exaggerated respect, much to Ethan's amusement.
"You know it's just a façade for others to perceive you as a serious alpha," Aaron whispered with a smile, and Ethan chuckled in response.
"You're quite a maniac," Ethan said, laughing.
"Yes, sir. I am aware," Aaron replied, bowing his head slightly. Ethan laughed heartily, nodding in approval of Aaron's playful behavior. "Let's go inside and see what I can do to you," Ethan whispered, raising his head slowly.
"Maybe you should spar with me. Let's have a little fun," Ethan suggested, clenching his fist.
Aaron sprinted towards Ethan, swiftly striking his sJacksonach and causing him to stumble. Ethan scanned the surroundings to see if anyone had witnessed his stumble, realizing more pack members had seen it than he anticipated. He swiftly regained his footing, assuming a defensive stance, and gestured for Aaron to come at him again.
"Gutsy move," Ethan praised before Aaron attacked him once more. Ethan seized Aaron's arm, pulling him closer, and delivered a knee strike to his sJacksonach. Aaron nearly collapsed, but Ethan used his strength to lift him and punched him to the ground.
"Argh," Aaron groaned, clutching his sJacksonach. Ethan laughed at him, towering over him. "You're brutal," Aaron remarked, slowly rising while still holding his sJacksonach.
"I'm your Alpha. If I'm not brutal, how will I protect you?" Ethan responded.
"You don't want to kill him. We need him in the pack," Ethan heard Eve's voice and turned in her direction.
"You should've seen what he did to initiate the spar," Ethan said, and Eve laughed. She was accompanied by Ruth and Karen, clearly dressed to go out. Eve wore a fitted green blouse with matching black heels and had her hair in a ponytail. She looked incredibly beautiful, and Ethan couldn't help but keep his eyes on her.
"Will you stop staring?" Aaron said to Ethan, making Eve blush.
"She is my mate. I think I have every right," Ethan replied, frowning. Aaron always seemed to want to provoke him.
"Can you two stop with all this?" Karen interjected, clearly tired of their dramatics. "We're going shopping, and Eve is leaving now," she added.
Eve walked up to Ethan and kissed him on the lips, leaving him in shock. She then left with Karen and Ruth, leaving Ethan wondering when he would see Eve again.
Ethan glanced in Eve's direction as she entered the car. He noticed Ryan, Luna's guard, joining her inside.
"She's not going away forever," Aaron remarked. "I'm going to take a shower," he added, walking away.
As Ryan drove off, Eve leaned out of the car, relishing the strong wind blowing against her face.
"First time out of the pack, right?" Ryan asked, his gaze fixed on the road.
"The best surprise ever," Eve replied, pulling her head back inside the car.
"I wouldn't call it a surprise. Ruth here ruined it," Karen chimed in, crossing her arms. Ruth burst into laughter, and Eve joined in.
"It was necessary," Ruth said, causing Karen to roll her eyes.
"That's what you say when you ruin anything," Karen retorted, raising her voice slightly.
"Now I'm the spoiler? I always do things for your sake," Ruth argued, raising her voice as well, which made Eve flinch.
"It's okay, guys. I'm the one who received the spoiled surprise," Eve reassured them, eliciting a chuckle from Ryan.
"Ryan, don't say anything," Ruth warned, and he nodded.
"We're almost at the store. Let's not be grumpy while picking out clothes," Eve suggested, and they both calmed down. They continued the remaining journey in silence, sharing occasional playful glances that led to bouts of laughter. They were having fun in their quiet way, and Ryan found it amusing.
"Maybe we should strike now," Jackson suggested, and Leo burst into laughter.
"I don't blame your thoughts; you're eager to die," Leo responded. Seated in Leo's white-painted office with a cushioned chair by the side, they faced each other across the desk.
"What do you mean?" Jackson asked, leaning fully on the desk.
"We're no match for them at the moment. Look at you, you could be killed in an instant," Leo explained, causing Jackson to raise an eyebrow. He couldn't understand why Leo didn't perceive him as an asset to the pack.
"I did the spying for you. How do you think I survived?" Jackson questioned, but Leo la laughed, finding his ignorance amusing.
"You didn't kill, did you? You merely hid and observed, which is all you're good at—nothing more. You can't battle anyone, not even an omega cook," Leo remarked.
"Enough with your words," Jackson snapped in anger but Leo continued to laugh.
"Watch your tone, old man. I just revealed how useless you truly are. You should know I could kill you with a snap of my fingers," Leo threatened, and Jackson bowed his head in submission.
Just then, Beta entered the office, holding a file in his hand.
"Killian, do you have any updates?" inquired Leo, to which Killian nodded. "Tell me," commanded Leo.
"The pack meeting is prepared to commence. All the pack leaders are waiting for you," informed Killian.
"We're on our way. Let me handle a few things with Jackson first," responded Leo, and Killian nodded, promptly leaving.
"So, what do you wish to discuss?" asked Jackson.
"You need to engage in more extensive surveillance," stated Leo. "After the pack meeting," Leo added, and Jackson agreed.
The pack leaders sat around a lengthy table, with Leo positioned at the head. They engaged in a heated debate regarding how to confront the blue moon pack and enhance their defenses. They assigned blame to each other for their weaknesses, while Leo observed their internal strife.
The argument escalated to the point where the pack head guard angrily rose, intending to attack the head of the Omegas.
"Sit down immediately," commanded Leo, utilizing his authoritative Alpha tone. They reluctantly complied, muttering amongst themselves.
"You make a lot of noise, yet you have nothing to show for it. You're all a bunch of fools," asserted Leo. "This pack hasn't achieved anything," he added.
"As the Alpha, it's your responsibility to guide us," retorted the head guard, provoking a sneer from Alpha Leo.
"You lead a department within the pack, and you must strengthen its value, which I don't see happening," criticized Leo. "We have an Elemental within our reach, and all I need is for you guys to become stronger for this battle. I don't care how long it takes, but I want to witness your growth," Leo emphasized.
"So, what's the plan?" inquired Killian, receiving affirmations from the others.
"We will grow. Once we've achieved that, we'll have all the time in the world to attack them. Nothing can stop us," declared Leo. "Amidst our growth, we'll apply some force against them," he concluded.
