Chapter 21. Two days. Two days have passed quietly, and I have not gotten a message nor a call from Maxwell. At first, I was relieved. Relieved that my tears might have moved him. Relieved that he finally understood how much I needed space from him and everything. But as hours passed into days, my mind grew restless, and my eyes would linger on my phone, hoping that his name would light up my screen. Silence has been my coping mechanism. It has always been my way of healing through pains, but this time, the silence ate against my chest, stinging deeper than any wound. Anytime my phone rang and it wasn’t him, a feeling of disappointment weighed against my chest, dragging me through the memories we have shared. But each time those memories came up, I reminded myself that I didn’t need
