The War

299 Words
Princess Temala gave birth on land to a beautiful baby girl, with brown hair, and bright emerald green eyes. There was no time to waste. Princess Temala had to go, but since she gave birth on land, her daughter had to stay with Aleesa.      "Please," Princess Temala begged, "Take good care of her, raise her as your own. On her eighteenth birthday, she will sprout a tail, and return to me. Until then, she is yours." She kissed her daughter on the head and raced to the water.      Cries of the humans filled the air, as the bandits raided the village home by home. Merhalle soldiers stayed to fight. A human was no match for a Merhalle soldier. They are blessed with speed, agility, and strength. They are trained from birth to protect the tribe at whatever costs. Merhalle soldiers are born with a mark. This mark symbolizes strength and determines who you are. They fought tirelessly, picking the bandits off one by one. Snapping the necks of bandits within arms reach, stealing their swords and slaying the rest. Merhalle won that night, but the mer-kind no longer felt safe, they felt betrayed by human kind, and it was decided that they would never return to land again.      Humans of Halle Island felt abandoned, and terrified. More humans came, from a different island. They were land pirates. They sailed the seas, and took whatever land they wanted. They called themselves leaders. The Halle Islanders sworn themselves to secrecy of the mer-people, fearing the stories have traveled further than they feared, attracting the wrong kind of explorers. Camita, the Merhalle Princess, was forced to live a human life, and Aleesa must keep her true identity hidden, in fear of her life as they knew it.
