Chapter 11: Starting Soon

Kenneth and Selena stared at each other in horror; they hadn’t expected something like this to happen. What made them more worried at the moment was the fact that there were no other employees in their division.

“How is this? I see there’s no one else on this floor,” Selena said while pressing her fingernails.

“Don’t worry, I’ll call someone.” Kenneth couldn’t stay silent like this.

Kenneth took the cell phone from his pocket and immediately called Winsor, fortunately he could hear the call ringing. Kenneth had indeed told Winsor to send someone to pick him up.

“Winsor!” Kenneth immediately called Winsor’s name when he heard that the call was connected to him.

“What is it, young master? Do you need anything?” Winsor sounded a little confused by Kenneth’s sudden call.

“Could you contact the driver who picked me up to go up to my room on the 32nd floor? I need his help,” Kenneth replied immediately explaining what he wanted from Winsor.

“Alright, I’ll do it right away.” After that, Winsor hung up the call and immediately did what Kenneth had told him to do.

Although Winsor was actually curious why Kenneth needed help from the driver he sent, when he heard Kenneth’s voice sounded anxious, he had to prioritize his employer’s orders over his curiosity. He could ask about it later when Kenneth returned home.

Back to Kenneth, he and Selena waited patiently and also a little anxiously in his room, waiting for the driver Winsor had sent to rescue them from this room that was locked from the outside.

“Who do you think might have done this?” Selena was seen pacing in front of the door while occasionally glancing at Kenneth, who chose to sit back on the sofa.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to suspect Melody, but she was the last one out of this room,” Kenneth replied pensively. He was busy thinking about the possible perpetrators of the incident that happened to him and Selena today.

“We should check the CCTV immediately after leaving this room. I’m sure the culprit was caught on camera.” Selena was already thinking about what they should do after making it out of the room.

It’s just that their situation, instead of getting better, got worse because suddenly, the lights on the floor turned off simultaneously.

Not only that, Kenneth heard Selena scream as soon as the lights suddenly went out. Without being able to see anything in the darkness, Kenneth tried his best to find Selena’s whereabouts.

“Selena?” Kenneth also tried to call Selena while he tried to use his cell phone to find Selena’s whereabouts.

But Kenneth did not hear any answer from Selena, even though he had called her several times. Fortunately Kenneth was able to find Selena who had fallen down by the door while closing her eyes and covering her ears with her hands.

Without thinking, Kenneth hugged Selena and tried to calm her down. He didn’t know what had happened to Selena to make her this scared, but he still tried to calm her down.

“I’m here. You don’t need to be afraid.” Kenneth slowly patted Selena’s back.

Also, Kenneth did not turn off the flashlight from his cell phone; he did not want Selena to be more frightened than this. Slowly, Kenneth could feel that Selena opened her eyes as he saw her trembling eyelids begin to open.

It was at that moment that they heard the sound of someone calling Kenneth’s name from outside the room.

“Mr. Kenneth? Where are you?”

Kenneth quickly shouted to let the person know where he was, and he raised his cell phone so that the person could see the light from inside his room.

“I’m in my room! Follow the light you see!” Kenneth quickly gave instructions to the person.

Fortunately, the person was quickly able to locate Kenneth’s room, except that the door was locked from the outside, and he could not open it because he did not have the key.

“Should I open this door by force, young master?” The man sounded quite hesitant, but he also could not think of any other solution at a time like this.

“If that’s the case, then do it. I’ll tell Grandpa, so there’s no need to worry,” Kenneth replied quickly; he just wanted to get out of this room as soon as possible.

“Alright. If you are near this door, please stay away, sir,” the man replied, warning Kenneth to stay away from behind the door of the room.

After hearing that, Kenneth slowly led Selena away from the door; only then did he signal his driver when he and Selena were far from the door.

Soon there was a loud noise from the direction of the door, Kenneth could feel Selena in his arms trembling as the loud noise was heard.

“Young master?” Fortunately the man carried a flashlight that was bright enough so he could find Kenneth and Selena quickly.

Upon seeing the light suddenly directed at them, Kenneth and Selena took a few moments to adapt to the incoming light.

Kenneth realized quickly and he hurriedly helped Selena to stand up as they needed to leave the room as quickly as possible.

Selena, while being helped by Kenneth finally managed to get out of the room. Kenneth’s driver led the way towards the elevator, which was still functioning.

“Why is the elevator still working? The power didn’t go out completely?” Selena, who was slowly coming to her senses, asked this in a voice that sounded worried.

“It seems that only the lights went out, and it only happened on this floor. I don’t know what happened either, Miss.” Kenneth’s driver explained what he knew to Selena.

Selena, who was still in Kenneth’s arms, turned to him with a serious look; she knew that Kenneth must also think that this situation was very unreasonable.

“Don’t go to the lobby. Go straight to the basement. I need to check the control room first,” Kenneth said when they were already in the elevator.

The man nodded his head in understanding and immediately pressed the button that would take them to the basement as instructed by Kenneth.

It didn’t take long for them to reach the basement. After the elevator doors opened they could tell that the power had not gone out because the lights in the basement were lit up with energy.

“Do you need me to accompany you, young master?”

“No need, I’ll go there with Selena,” Kenneth replied as he shook his head.

“Then I’ll move the car here while waiting for you.”

Kenneth simply nodded his head and waved his hand to let the driver go do his job.

Given that their surroundings were no longer dark, Selena had recovered from her fear, although Kenneth could still see that her face was still pale.

“We should quickly check the CCTV, I’m afraid they’ve already acted to eliminate their evidence!” Selena pulled Kenneth’s arm towards the control room with her long strides.
