Chapter 6: Playing Along

Finally, Kenneth was pulled by Selena out of the conference room, and they decided to go down to the 32nd floor, where Kenneth's office would be. And Kenneth thought that Selena seemed very knowledgeable about the condition of this company.

"Are you very close to Grandfather?" Kenneth glanced at Selena, who was standing next to him.

Selena turned to Kenneth with a sweet smile on her face, "Yes, I've known Mr. Robert for a long time." Selena nodded her head.

"Apparently so. It seems that I have to ask you a lot because I don't know anything about this family or about this company," Kenneth replied with an awkward laugh.

"Don't worry, I'm here to help you. Mr. Robert personally asked me to help you," Selena replied while patting Kenneth lightly on the shoulder.

Then, there was a clunking sound of the elevator, indicating that they had arrived at the floor they were heading to. Selena quickly pulled Kenneth's arm out of the elevator and took him inside to explore the floor.

Kenneth, who had previously worked at the Anderson family-owned company, was already quite familiar with this environment, and these were the people who had looked down on him when he had worked as a janitor.

Actually, most of the workers in this company did not care about the Janitors who worked for the company, and they tended not to consider them because they felt superior to them.

Now, Kenneth must make these people believe in him and be willing to work for him so that he can prove that he deserves to be the rightful heir of Robert.

Selena herself, who felt that Kenneth had become more silent than before after they got out of the elevator, turned to him to see what happened to him.

"Are you okay?" Selena became a little worried after seeing Kenneth's face, which looked a little paler.

Kenneth cleared his throat softly before answering Selena's question, "Ah, I'm fine. Just a little nervous," Kenneth replied with a slightly forced smile.

"Relax, we're here today to look around so you can get used to it later," Selena replied, trying to calm Kenneth, who did look quite nervous at the moment.

"Yes. If you don't mind, can you explain what I have to do as CEO?" Kenneth ended up looking for information through Selena because, honestly, he didn't know what he should do.

Kenneth's life used to require him to think about how to make money to please Ramona and his family. So Kenneth didn't know what he should do as the new CEO of this company.

"It's actually easy; you just need to manage the resources the company has and make a business plan for our company going forward," Selena explained happily.

"That sounds difficult to me." Kenneth laughed awkwardly when he heard Selena's answer.

While they were chatting casually, someone accidentally bumped into the side of Kenneth's shoulder, luckily not causing either of them to fall down because of it.

But when the person who bumped Kenneth looked up and looked at him, he seemed to recognize Kenneth.

"I haven't seen you in a long time, loser. Since you're here, do this for me; when you're done, deliver it to my desk as usual," said the man while giving Kenneth a stack of files.

Selena, who heard that, was shocked; she thought the man was really looking for death for daring to behave impolitely like that to Kenneth.

"What are you doing?! Do you think he's your errand boy?" Selena couldn't stand it and immediately stopped the man's steps.

"Who are you to talk to me like that?! This loser is an errand boy, so you better shut up and get out of here!" The man glared at Selena with a very arrogant attitude.

Not only Selena but even Kenneth was surprised when the man dared to yell at Selena like that. For Kenneth, it was natural that the man still saw him as an errand boy because they still didn't know who he was.

But wasn't it too much for the man not to recognize Selena? Kenneth even felt angry right now after what the man had done to Selena.

But before Kenneth could act, a few people came to calm the man down. They looked like the man's friends, and they told him who Selena really was.

"What? She's Selena Bowen, the daughter of the famous Bowen family?" The man frowned unhappily after hearing what his friends said.

"Yeah, you shouldn't be looking for trouble with someone like her."

"So what if she's the daughter of a conglomerate? Do you think I'm afraid of her?" The man was still adamant and had no intention of apologizing or anything.

Kenneth, who couldn't stand it anymore, started to walk towards the man. Without any warning, Kenneth threw the stack of files in his hand at the man.

"Who do you think you are to demean us with such disrespect?" Kenneth stood in front of the man while looking at him coldly.

The man grinned when he heard Kenneth's words, "So you have the nerve to act now? Once a loser, always a loser." The man used his index finger to gently push Kenneth's shoulder.

Kenneth held the man's wrist and then slammed it quite hard, then he turned around to take Selena away from there because if he continued, the situation could become unfavorable, and he didn't want to make a scene.

However, the man did not seem to accept Kenneth's treatment of him. He became angry and began to utter various expletives to denigrate Kenneth.

"Damn bastard, a loser like you dares to act so ignorant like this!" The man walked forward quickly towards Kenneth and pulled his shoulder, intending to punch Kenneth in the face.

But Kenneth reacted quickly; he turned around and promptly dodged the man's punch, causing the man to stumble. Kenneth followed up by pushing the man's back, causing him to fall down and kiss the hard, cold floor.

"I'm not someone you can patronize like before," Kenneth said with a sharp look in his eyes, and his voice also sounded cold.

Kenneth paused for a moment, then he turned to Selena. "Can I fire her?" Kenneth immediately asked Selena who knew better about this.

"Of course you can. We really need to get rid of assholes like him from the company," Selena replied sharply. She walked to Kenneth's side and looked at the man on the floor with a disgusted look.

"What are you talking about?! You have no authority to fire me!" The man's voice began to tremble when he heard that they intended to fire him.

"Is that what you think? Unfortunately, I'm your boss now, so I have full authority to fire you. So you don't have to come to the company starting tomorrow," Kenneth explained seriously.
