Chapter 7: Now You Know

1171 Words
Because of the ruckus they made, a lot of people were gathering around Kenneth and Selena at the moment. However, Kenneth did not think too much about it now because he was going to tell these people that the person he was now was not the person he used to be. Kenneth wanted to tell them that they could no longer look down on him like before. Even so, Kenneth also did not intend to punish them because he did not want himself to turn into the evil people who humiliated him before. And now the man who had fallen down was just as shocked as the others gathered there, unable to believe what Kenneth had said. The man then laughed while mocking Kenneth, “You’re really crazy to hallucinate like that. Aren’t you afraid to confess like that?!” The man got up and grinned at Kenneth. Kenneth, who heard that, shook his head lazily; he was really lazy to deal with this type of person who was only full of himself. “Is it okay if I say that I’m the new CEO now?” Kenneth whispered to Selena, who was next to him. “It seems like there would be a problem if we said it here right now. There’s going to be an announcement, so we have to wait until it’s made.” Selena frowned, slightly unhappy that they couldn’t tell the truth at the moment. “That’s unfortunate. But what can we do? Then we better avoid this commotion for now,” Kenneth whispered. He was about to hold Selena’s hand before he heard a very familiar voice. Ramona, who heard the noise, decided to see what was going on, and what surprised Ramona more was the fact that Peter, who had a high position here, was sitting on the floor in front of a man and a woman. “Mr. Peter, what’s going on?” Ramona came over and started helping Peter up; she was pretty familiar with Peter, so no one was surprised to see her approaching Peter. “This damn loser dared to push me. He even claimed to be the boss. Looks like you’ve been too soft on him lately,” Peter said as he pointed at Kenneth’s face. Ramona looked up and saw Kenneth there with a woman who looked close to him. Ramona’s anger began to rise when she saw Kenneth; she had not expected him to follow her here. “Didn’t I tell you not to follow me anymore! And yet a useless person like you dares to find trouble with Mr. Peter.” Ramona got up and walked closer to Kenneth. Ramona’s hand was raised to slap Kenneth, it seemed that she had been too soft on Kenneth to make him think a coward like him dared to mess with her. Ramona’s action was again stopped, but this time, it was not Kenneth who stopped her; it was Selena. “I didn’t know that the employees in this company were so shameless. How can you suddenly intend to slap other people like this,” said Selena unhappily while looking at Ramona with a sharp gaze. Ramona threw away Selena’s hand that was holding her hand; she glanced at Selena sarcastically, unhappy with what she was doing. “This has nothing to do with you, so just shut up. This insolent man needs to be taught a lesson,” Selena retorted angrily. Kenneth, who saw what Ramona did to Selena, was not happy. He didn’t mind if Ramona insulted him or whatever, but he couldn’t justify what Ramona did to Selena. “Just so you know, this is none of your business either. You will regret doing this to me and to her,” Kenneth said sharply. Not wanting to make things worse, Kenneth realized that more people had gathered to see what was happening. Kenneth grabbed Selena’s hand and led her away from that place. Kenneth could hear the shouting voices behind him who began to cuss him and revile him; he didn’t care; his priority was to get out of there so as not to make this problem more prominent. Given that the atmosphere on that floor was not conducive, Kenneth took Selena back into the elevator and chose to visit another floor. “I’m sorry I caused trouble for you,” Kenneth said, feeling bad for Selena for causing trouble for him. Kenneth turned to his side to look at Selena, but he realized that he was still holding her hand, so he immediately hurriedly withdrew his hand and smiled awkwardly. “No problem. It’s just that they often act like that towards you?” Selena asked seriously. “Before Grandpa found me, my life was quite difficult, and yes, they did behave like that towards me,” Kenneth replied as he scratched the back of his head lightly in an awkward manner. “Gosh, they really went too far. I hope you don’t have to go through this horrible thing again,” Selena replied, sympathizing with what had happened to Kenneth during this time; she couldn’t imagine what had happened to his life during this time. Kenneth just smiled and didn’t say anything. Because her mood was already ruined after what happened earlier, Selena also chose to invite Kenneth to have lunch at the company canteen, which looked luxurious. Although he was in a bad mood after what happened earlier, Kenneth still enjoyed his day with Selena. After spending the rest of the day with Selena, Kenneth returned to the Anderson family home in the afternoon. . . . After what happened at the company, Kenneth hoped to rest when he got home, but that hope was dashed when he saw Jack waiting for his return in the living room. At first, Kenneth chose to ignore Jack’s presence because, again, he didn’t want to get into trouble with anyone; it was just that Jack didn’t think the same way as him because he could see Jack confronting him. “Do you need something from me?” Kenneth asked Jack nicely. “Tell me what you told Grandpa to make him want to make you the heir?!” Jack did his best to hold back his rising emotions, he was really sick of Kenneth right now. “I didn’t say anything to Grandpa,” Kenneth replied confusedly. Jack, who was not satisfied with Kenneth’s words, began to approach and pull his collar; his eyes looked at Kenneth sharply and sarcastically. “Mark my words. You will never deserve to be the heir of this family. And again, beware, I will do everything to thwart you from becoming the CEO of the company!” Jack hissed with emphasis on every word he said. Kenneth himself just chuckled after hearing Jack’s words. He finally understood why Jack was behaving like this towards him. “If you’re good enough, Grandpa won’t be able to hand over the position to me,” Kenneth replied casually and looked at Jack calmly.
