The confrontation

Alice’s POV

I was back in my room and my soft bed felt like I was sleeping on a rock and my warm bedsheets felt like thorns on my skin. Did I just throw caution into the wind, having the most intimate moment with a guy I barely knew? I hugged my pillow even more tight.

We had created a mate bond yesterday. I knew I wasn’t the only who felt it. He did too but he didn’t mention a word about it. The pearl necklace even burned deeper into my skin, as if suppressing something inside of me. I couldn’t tell what it was but it felt different from the first time we met. Whatever happened between us last night has unlocked something different in me.

Just then, the door pushed open and Clara stared daggers at me. I sat up immediately, scared of her next move.

“ What.. what is it?”

“ Well, hi, Alice in wonderland. Maybe you think you are meant to have your beauty sleep while the house waits for you, her royal majesty to wake up.”

I stared out of the window. It was morning already. I didn’t even notice. Does that mean that I stayed up all night thinking of last night’s party and what happened between Jason and I?

“ Are you daydreaming again?” Clara yelled, snapping at me.

“ Uhmm.. no. I was just… just thinking of father.” I lied. Well, not like I stopped thinking of him, I never will. But it was just the only excuse to escape Clara’s wrath.

“ Thinking is not what is going to make mother’s bath. You better get out of that bed and make sure her bath is ready.”

“ Yes.” I responded in a low tone.

“ Don’t let me come back to remind you except you will have me empty a boiling pot of coffee on you.” And with that, she slammed the door, walking away.

I stood up from the bed immediately and shoved the gown into my wardrobe. I was glad Clara didn’t notice or she would have found out that I sneaked out last night and that would have been more trouble. I let my fingers run over the hem of the gown,remembering Jason’s hand pulling it high up my thighs.

I spent two hours attending to their needs, running late for school before they finally allowed me to leave. I hurried down to school, scared I might get into trouble with the principal. I was lucky to walk past his office without him catching sight of me.

As I made my way to the classroom, I saw one of the professors walking down towards me and as I made to hide, a hand pulled me from behind just in time to hide me from the professor. When I turned to see it was, I found Linda smiling brightly at me.

“ Hey!”

“ Hi.” I managed to flash a smile at her.

“ Coming late to class on your second day shouldn’t be something you should attempt. Principal Lyne can be very strict about punctuality rules.”

I nodded in response. “ Sure.”

“ Yeah and what happened last night? I searched for you for hours and then when you came down, you were in such a hurry to go home. Did something happen?” Linda asked, leading the way to our classroom.

“ Well, you shouldn’t worry about that. I just had something on my mind and I just wasn’t feeling the party anymore so I had to go home.”

“ Oh, I was actually worried. Glad nothing happened to you.” Linda said, with relief.

As I made to respond, two girls stepped out with their arms crossed around their chest. They had long blonde hair and pretty faces that you could tell they either belonged to the cheerleaders team or part of the hot girls on campus.

“ You must be Alice.” One of the girl said, her eyes running over me.

“ Yes..I am..” I made to respond just as the other girl interrupted me.

“ Of course, she has to be the new girl. They usually look like a mess, trying to blend in.” The second girl said, her eyes moving from me to Linda, who look frightened.

“ Add to the list, Leah, that they’re usually over ambitious. I heard she hanged out with Jason last night.”

I swallowed hard. How much more does she know about what happened last night? She isn’t about to spill out my secrets in front of Linda. She flashed what looked a smile at me and I even felt more uncomfortable.

“ I guess we will meet another time, Alice. Just know I’ve got my eyes on you.” The girl, who the other girl had referred to as Leah, leaned forward, “ And trust me, I’ll be watching you from now on. We will meet sometime soon.” She said and turned away with the other girl giving me a deadly look before following suit.

I let out a deep breath of relief. I know girls like that, just like Mara and Clara. They’re the last person you would want watching your every move.

“ Who are they?” I finally managed to get my voice back.

“ Hannah and Leah, the last girls you will want to have an altercation with. Every single person in this school has either been a victim or must have witnessed their wrath.”

“ Including you?” I asked.

“ One time, they locked me up in the bathroom ir I rather allow pour slimy water on me after recess just because I looked at Leah in the eyes.” Linda said, leading the way again.

My heart skipped upon hearing that. I already have enough to deal with at home. Adding two more the list sounds like a threatening message.

I walked behind Linda just as she walked into the class. The history teacher had just rounded up his lass for the day. He took one look at the both of us, before walking past. Just then, I felt the heat and when I looked up, it was Jason staring at me.
