Chapter 4. Old She Wolfs Know Everything!

1205 Words
James As I linger there, watching Beth climb into her tent, I can’t help but watch her every move. I am so dumb. I keep saying things that make her mad like with the tents, and asking about her parents. Of Course she knows nothing. God, why am I acting like this? “Like a love struck puppy? Because she is our mate, we want to protect her and know her. We can’t help it, you know that.” My wolf tells me he sounds as sad as I feel. “Because I know we have the same brain. I know what you’re thinking,” he snapped at me with a growl. “James, can we talk alone?” Ella asks me. “sure want to walk a little down the path,” I urge her She nods her head. As we walk, I see a Bench and take a seat, and she sits next to me. “So she is your mate, huh?” she says How does she know that? I think. “They are old, old wolves know everything,” my wolf says. I am about to argue, she says. “No, I can’t read your mind. I can just see it the way you keep looking at her that tells me everything I need to know.” “Am I that transparent?” I ask. “Yes and no, I can see it in the way you watch her, also I can smell it all over you, and her too. That’s why she keeps getting frustrated. She doesn’t know it yet, but she will soon.” She informs me. “But it can’t be that; the prophecy says she is to marry the true Alpha and unite the packs. I am nothing but a beta.” “Are you sure you’re a beta and not an alpha? If what you say is true about her, it should not have been easy to resist when she gave you the command to answer her. Also, why do you think she answered you? Because trust me on this, you can’t make her do anything. I always knew she was Luna, but not the moon goddess. I saw the struggle it took you to not answer her.” She informs me. “See, I advised you we are an alpha. It has to be.” My wolf says, all giddy like. “I think your wolf agrees with me.” She says, “How did you know that?” “The look of having hope just splashed on your face.” She says. With that, she gets up from the bench and says, “I think I might head to bed. Have a good night, James.” “Night Ella.” I call after her. As I remain there, hours pass as I think, what does this mean? Am I an Alpha or is this just some stupid crush? Most of my life has been about looking for her. I can not be sure which it is. I can’t stop myself from wanting to talk to her. And watching her like today when Ella went into the store, I should have kept my mouth shut. If she wanted something, she would have asked Ella to get it for her. As all these thoughts flow, I hear something. Next thing I see is Beth running down the path. I can tell she is fine. But I follow her. “She is fast, even without her wolf awake. She is fast,” my wolf tells me “Yeah, no kidding,” I reply as I run after her. I watch as she looks out over the footbridge she has found. As I watched her in the moonlight, she was stunning, her silver hair blowing in the wind. I did not know it was that long; it comes to her belt and at 5 foot 5 inches and with her small build; it makes her look like the goddess she is. “Wow, she is stunning. What do you think her wolf looks like?” my wolf asks. “My guess is she will be just as amazing with silver fur. The color of the moon, just like her.” I advise him that’s when I hear her. She knows it’s me. So I walked out. Once I am sitting next to her, she calls me a stalker. We talk for a while as dawn approaches. I can’t help but watch the Sun rise with her as it peeks out from behind the mountings in the distance. It’s pretty here, but it has nothing on the sunrises that I have grown up with. After finding out why, she ran all the way out here. We just sit and watch as the sun rises. “This is beautiful,” she says, looking at the sunrise. “Just wait till you see it coming over the house back home. It makes the place look simple. It’s like something out of a fairy tale. How the mountains and the grasslands meet. Mixing it with the rivers and lakes makes it look like the sun is rising out of the ground.” That sounds magnificent.” “The stars at night are so clear that you can see billions twinkling in the night sky. Montana is a majestic place to live.” “Sounds like it.” I can’t stop staring at her. She asks me if there is something on her face. I can’t help but watch her. We watch when she decided it was time to head back Soon We find ourselves heading back to camp. She even loses her way. I am glad I came with her or she might have gotten lost. I can’t help but chuckle when she asks if I know how to go back. After leading her back, we set out to make breakfast. She seems like such a natural the way she got everything going at such a fast pace. Even manages to get coffee going. She will make one heck of an Alpha or Luna with the way she commands a room. She asks questions about her grandfather. I answer the best I can without telling her that not only is her grandfather a werewolf, but everyone that is there is one. Or that there are many kinds of supernaturals in the world. How do you tell someone that they have a destiny? Tell them about their family when they don’t know the most basic thing about themselves. I answer the most that I can. Anything just to hear her talk. Her voice is like music to my ears. I cat help but watch her every movement. The way her hips move as she walks. The way her chest rises and falls as she takes a breath. Her smell is something out of this world. Just before the food is done, Ella walks out. Asking for coffee. Once Beth has given her a cup. Handing me the pot, I pour the last dregs in to my cup, just as breakfast is finished. Taking the pan to the table, I take my seat across from her. She almost moans as she takes a bite.
