Shauna goes limp in his arms after he tells her he is the real Philippe. One arm hangs around his shoulders, and he has his other arm half around her waist. He freezes and looks at Paulo. “If you are real, we will need you. I know right now she isn’t sure she can trust you. I don’t know if I can trust you. But to be honest, I don’t have a choice. I will have to take your word that you won’t betray us.”
Philippe adjusts the limp Shauna, so she is easier to carry. She was like a baby with her head on his chest. “I will not betray you. I can’t betray her; I only did what I did because I had been taken. The spell was broken when you punched through their defenses. I haven’t gone through what the two have.
