CHAPTER FOUR.

Damian sat behind the wide glass desk in his office, facing the transparent glass windows, he watched as the city lights glowed. Turning back to his desk, contracts laid open on it, figures scattered across neat columns, but every word and figure were blurred. He could not focus, even after reading and going through the documents over and over again. Something else was demanding his attention. It was her. He reached for another document to his left, it had her name on it, it was the contract for the shoot. He read her name out loud "Elysian". The name itself gave a spark in his chest, his wolf whispered it again, his jaw tightening as he grips the black pen his hand, snapping it into two. His wolf surged again, restless and growing at the delay. It was pushing him to act. Damian rose up abruptly, moving to the windows, His reflection staring back, his silver-blue eyes burning , they always burn when his wolf pressed too close. "Enough! You will obey me" his voice low and commanding. But his wolf did not listen, instead he pressed harder, more growling and restlessness, he did not care about human words, he wanted his mate. It kept on pressing as it remembered her scent and her fragile heartbeat, the shimmer of her eyes as the camera adored her. Claim her. She is ours! He rested both hands on the glass, trying to control himself. For decades, he had ruled himself with absolute discipline. He was always able to control himself, but now it was a futile effort. His world began to shake, after a glimpse of her perfect face. The door behind him opened quietly, "You are distracted, losing control" a voice said. It was his Beta, Ralph. He was always in the shadows, moved like one too. Very loyal too. "I am not" Damian replied. He did not have to turn to know who had barged into his office. "Hm, yet you snapped a pen in half." Ralph said dryly staring at the broken pen on the floor. "What is the cause of this distraction Alpha". Damian exhaled slowly, " I saw something yesterday" . "Something?" Ralph was confused. "Yes, at the shoot, yesterday." He replied. "You rarely attend those kind of events, and yet you went?" He questioned him. He had earned the right. Not everyone can dare to question the Alpha, staring into his eyes, no one had the audacity to, except his Beta. Damian eyes glinted, his eyes were more wolf than human, and yet Ralph held steady. "Because something pulled me there". Damian answered. Ralph frowned, still not able to comprehend. The room was silent for few seconds, Damian's lip pressed into a thin line. He could not explain the storm inside him, the way his wolf demanded something that was hard for him to accept. "Mate, she is human." Those words were the only thing to escape his lips. The room fell silent, Damian's word sinking into Ralph's head, his eyes widened at the the confession, his brain finally processing. "Mate? Human?" He exclaimed softly out of confusion. Damian only stared, he did not utter a single word. Ralph ran his hand through his hair, he did not know how to react or what to say. Letting out a sigh "This is unbelievable...I ...I mean, it has never happened." He said. "I know" Damian replied. "The others will never agree to this, This is dangerous Damain" "I know Ralph. I know the tradition, I know the laws!, but none of them matters now" His teeth pressing hard. "Then what are you going to do about it? Are you really considering it?" Ralph asked, carefully studying him. "I do not know, one thing I know is that I can not control him for long' he was referring to the wild beast inside of him. Every wolf in his pack knew Damian was the strongest. Different, he was both a blessing and a curse. His wolf was unlike any other, a gift he had inherited from his mother. Legends claimed she was the most feared Luna in history, her power so immense that rival packs trembled at the sound of her howl. Damian carried that same legacy. Controlling his wolf had been a battle since childhood, and even now, nothing had changed. When the beast within him rose to the surface, there was no turning back. Ralph understood, he stood by his side, placing a hand on his shoulder as a way of comforting him. No words said, just two friends standing, one comforting the other and one lost in his thoughts. Damian closed his eyes, forcing his wolf back with every ounce of power. But the truth still stands, His wolf was a desperate beast. And it would tear the world apart to reach her. Days travelled fast, it was almost a month since the shoot at the Blackwood Company. Elysian also went back to her normal life and routine. Dozens of contracts were lined up, some were already signed, she had appearances to make, her life was an organized calendar of performances. Yet, something was not right, she could not think properly as something or someone kept eating up her mind. She didn't see him, it was just his tall departing figure and his shadow that followed right behind him. But there was something about his aura that she found hard to describe. She remembered how every hair on her skin rose, the way her heart fluttered, how every cell in her body reacted to the sight that was before her that day. For once, she wished he had turned for her to get a glimpse of his face. She could not stop thinking about him and she hated herself for it. He is just like every other arrogant billionaire, he did not even care to greet you, girl stop imagining things. She scolded herself, but the memory has not loosen its grip.
