Ch. 3

1184 Words
I slipped out of homeroom quickly, not wanting to be bothered by anyone. I made it to my next class early and sat, again in my usual seat in the back. I, again, decided to stare out the window, not really caring about the class. It was biology, the easiest subject. I was, again, startled out of my daydream by Kai plopping down into the seat next to me. My fists tightened into balls, but I didn't outwardly react. I continued my daydream until I felt cool breath blow across the back of my neck. It hit the spot where a mark was usually placed. I jumped and slapped my neck, whirling to stare at Kai. He snickered in his seat, enjoying my reaction. "What? Did something startle you, Kitten?" His voice held light amusement, as he glanced over at me. I didn't miss the new nickname, but I didn't mind it. Kai liked it as well, it seemed, as she purred inside my head. I glared at him silently and returned to my position, regretting the fact that he seemed to share this class with me. When the class was over, I hurried to get away from him, not liking the immediate effect he had on me. I came to find out that he shared all my classes with me, and I decided I hated school without my friends to help keep me calm. Both Kaylee and Mark knew about my usually short temper, and did everything they could to keep me calm and happy during the day. It was lunch time and I paid for my lunch and sat down at my usual table, missing my friends in the empty space surrounding me. I sighed and dug into my food. It was a cheeseburger, like every Tuesday. The burger wasn't bad, just bland and greasy. I only had toast for breakfast, though. My stomach wasn't giving me a choice. I finished the burger and was starting on my fries when someone sat down next to me. I didn't have any other friends in school, and I kept to myself most of the time. I looked over and saw Kain, with that infuriating smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes and continued eating, pretending as though he wasn't there. "Come on, Kitten. What have I done to receive such harsh treatment from you? I have been nothing but kind." His voice was smooth and taunting. I rolled my eyes again and put down my fries. " 'What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?' " I cross my arms and lean back in my chair, staring straight ahead. "Oh? Is my little Kitten too high and mighty for my lowly pick-up lines?" His voice dropped as he came closer to my ear. It was obvious he was trying to get a reaction out of me. His scent filled my nose, threatening the mask on my face. I held back my sensible chuckle and kept looking straight ahead. "Alright. You know what? I'm going to do everything in my power to destroy that cold facade of yours and make sure you bow down to me." His voice drops to a growl at the end, a delicious vibration in my ear that sent shivers down my spine. I simply turned my head to face him, raised an eyebrow and said, "Is that a threat or a promise?" "A promise." "You can sure try." I get up and grab my tray, heading out of the lunchroom. I make sure he can't see the smirk on my face. I open the doors to the cafeteria and stride into the silent hallway. Once I'm a good few feet away, I slow down and strain my ears. It's fun to listen and see how many couples like having s*x during lunch. I listen to the barely audible moans and groans before picking out an especially silent spot and walking towards that. I walk leisurely, enjoying the hour long lunch period. I come to the abandoned auditorium. We only use it for special all-school announcements, and since it's close to the end of the year, we haven't used it in months. I trudge through the aisles and sit down in a chair in the far back to the right. I put my feet up on the back of the chair in front of me and lean back. I sigh and let out a breath. Today has been far more stressful than I ever thought a Tuesday could be. I hear the door to the Auditorium open, and someone stomps in. I don't open my eyes, already able to tell who it is. Kain stomps over to where I sit. I don't open my eyes when I feel him loom over me. His smell is pouring off of him, calming my frazzled nerves. He stands in silence for a few minutes, never moving. I keep my eyes closed and raise an eyebrow. "Come on, no reaction? Just a few kind words for lil' ol' me?" I open my mouth and wait a few seconds, as though preparing for a grand speech. I take in one deep breath and say, "f**k off." I hear an over dramatic gasp come from Kain before he plops into the seat next to me. "Oh, you wound me so! How could you do this to me, Kitten?" I smirk at his acting and shrug, bringing my feet down from the seat in front of me so I can sit up properly. I cross my ankles in my chair and open my eyes, leaning on the armrest between us. Kain copies my position, raising an eyebrow of his own. I mirror him and smirk, daring him to do anything. My eyes focus on his lips involuntarily, watching as his tongue swipes out to wet them. I follow it, taking my own lip into my mouth. Kain seems distracted by the move. My vision tunnels until all I see is his lips. His breath is hot on my face, smelling sweet. I realize how close we are when I can feel his breath. I snap back in my chair, my eyes wide. Kain comes out of his trance slower than I did. His eyes re-focus slowly as a smirk grows on his face. His eyes sparkle with mischief, as he sees my reaction. He starts to lean over the armrest, coming closer and forcing me to the corner of my seat. His smirk is wide, predatory. He climbs over the armrest, cornering me. He brings a hand to my face, pinching my chin. He leans in, bringing my face closer to his. His lips just brush mine before we're interrupted by the bell. It rings loudly throughout the entire school, forcing Kain to freeze. I manage to slip out from under him and rush towards the auditorium doors. I make it to class early, interrupting the teacher eating their own lunch. I give him an apologetic smile and rush to my seat in the back of the classroom, willing my heart to calm down.
