Chapter 13

780 Words
The private gym echoed with the rhythmic sound of Aria’s labored breathing and the heavy thud of her fists against the padded dummy. Sweat poured down her face and back, soaking through her training clothes as she attacked with everything she had. The emerald gown from the gala the night before felt like a distant memory now — replaced by the raw reality of survival in Dante’s world. “Elbow higher,” Dante commanded, his deep voice firm but patient as he circled her. “Use your whole body, not just your arm. Again.” Aria swung with renewed determination, her petite frame moving with growing precision. The charity gala had been a public victory, but this was her private battlefield. Every strike was a declaration that she would never again be the weak, crying girl who had signed that contract in tears. Sofia’s etiquette lessons had taught her how to stand tall in a room full of wolves. Dante’s training was teaching her how to fight like one. When she finally landed a perfect combination that made the dummy shudder, Dante stepped behind her, molding his powerful body to hers to demonstrate the next move. The contact sent heat flooding through her despite the exhaustion. “Like this,” he murmured against her ear, his hands guiding her hips. The lesson quickly turned into something far more intimate. Hours later, after a long shower, Aria emerged from the bathroom to find Dante waiting for her in the bedroom. The air between them crackled with electricity. The gala kiss, the public declaration, the way he had looked at her with such pride — it had all built to this moment. “Come here,” he commanded softly, his gray eyes dark with hunger and something deeper. She walked into his arms without hesitation. This time, when he undressed her, there was no hesitation, no lingering fear. Their first full night together was a storm of passion and raw emotion. Dante was dominant and in complete control, yet incredibly attentive, worshiping every inch of her body as if she were the most precious thing in his dangerous world. He took his time teasing and commanding her until Aria was trembling with need, begging for him. When they finally came together, it was intense, passionate, and filled with whispered declarations of love. “You own me,” Aria gasped as pleasure crashed through her in powerful waves, her fingers digging into his shoulders. “And you own me,” Dante replied, his voice strained with rare vulnerability as he moved deep inside her. For the first time, the ruthless mafia billionaire lets her see the man beneath the power — the one who had been changed by her. Afterward, Aria lay curled against his chest, tears of release and joy slipping down her cheeks. “I never knew it could feel like this,” she whispered, tracing the scars on his chest. “You’ve given me strength I never thought I had.” Dante stroked her long chestnut hair, his large hand gentle. “You were always strong. I just helped you see it.” His voice grew quieter, more vulnerable. “You’ve changed me too, Aria. I used to see everything as a transaction. But you… you make me want more than power. You make me want a future.” The emotional weight of his confession wrapped around her heart. She had come so far from the pitiful girl who once cried in his penthouse. Now she was his partner, his lover, his queen in the making. The next morning, Sofia resumed training with a knowing smile. “You look different. More confident. More alive.” Aria blushed but stood taller. “I feel different.” But during the afternoon strategy session with Marco and Sofia, the consigliere openly questioned Aria’s suggestions. “She’s still too soft for this life. Too emotional. The gala was one thing, but real power requires ruthlessness.” Aria met his gaze steadily, her voice calm but firm. “I shot Victor Lang to protect my husband. I stood beside Dante at the gala and faced down men who once terrified me. I’m not soft anymore.” Dante’s proud smile warmed her from across the table, his gray eyes gleaming with approval. The moment of triumph was shattered when Luca called in panic. “Victor’s men found my location again. I need extraction right now. They’re closing in!” Aria’s heart dropped. The threats never stopped. But as she looked at Dante, resolve hardened in her chest. She was no longer the weak girl waiting to be saved. She was ready to fight for her family.
