Kayah’s point of view
“I’m better than Ron when it comes to thinking ahead. I might not be a fighter but I’m smarter.” Blaze ran a hand through his hair and winked.
From his words, I understood that he was Sabrina’s main servant while Ron was probably a warrior. While I was deep in my thoughts, he took that chance to place the tiara on my hair.
“Gorgeous! Perfect!”
As I snapped back to reality, I noticed the gaze of some people on me, they whispered amongst themselves but it didn’t seem like they were saying anything bad. Some were bold enough to try and approach me but the glare from the two men with me was enough to stop them.
“Can we go in?” I wasn’t comfortable with the attention I was receiving.
“Sure!” As we walked to the main entrance, people bowed their heads and made way for us. I smiled as I walked past them, not wanting to act rude since I wasn’t supposed to bow to them.
I allowed the guards to lead me to a room where a woman was waiting, she immediately got to her feet as she saw me.
“My lady.” She bowed in my direction.
“You may raise your head.” I carefully said, unsure but she complied. Since the people with me didn’t say anything, I was assured that I had said the right thing.
“Oh my goodness, what happened to you, my lady? You look like you haven’t eaten anything. You were only missing for a day and yet it felt like you starved,” the woman wearing a maid uniform said as she inspected my body.
Oh, girl if only you knew how hungry I am now…
She snapped her head and two other servants appeared. She instructed them to prepare food that I had never heard of before.
“You two will be in charge of the lady’s food from now on,” she said.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
As they walked me off to somewhere I didn’t know, I saw a portrait of a woman. It was huge and this took me aback, she looked exactly like me: eyes, hair everything. We could have passed as identical twins.
The only difference between us was that she looked so healthy while I was malnourished.
The Sabrina’ status took me by surprise. She’s a freaking warrior despite being a healer. I could be able to pass off as her in terms of appearance but I was no warrior nor do I have the strength of one.
The woman who greeted me opened the red brocade box that was with her, in it, was a gold bracelet
She gave me a badge, when I collected it, I looked at it in confusion. On it was,
The Lady Sabrina of Red Rose, the last of her kind.
I was dumbfounded! I understood the meaning behind the bracelet. Sabrina was a very, very important she-wolf.
“The king has brought you home, that's why everyone threw you a party, a welcome party, my lady,” the woman explained. “This gold bracelet is a gift from him.”
From what I’ve heard, it was rare for the Rogue king to give a female a gold bracelet.
I kept on receiving new surprises thanks to Sabrina and at that point, I was scared. There was no sign of the real healer yet, what if Seven asks to display strength? I was no Beta or fighter, what would I do? I found myself lost in my thoughts again as I was being led to the hall where the party would take place.
Could anything else go wrong? Who knows.
We arrived in front of a huge door, the woman looked at me, and from her expression, I instantly knew this was it.
“My lady, would you like to use scent blockers before entering?” I was confused by the question but Ron answered in my stead.
“Her Majesty, the Queen Mother insisted that the Lady must use it, to prevent certain issues.”
I didn’t say a word, from the name I guessed that it was used to block out a person’s scent but why would Sabrina need to use it?
“What issues?” I mumbled loud enough for their hearing, I was almost comfortable around the guards but not the new person in our midst.
Blaze chuckled.
“My lady, this is a Welcome Ceremony and a lot of the King’s people are looking forward to you attending. The Queen mother is worried that you might be claimed by a male that isn’t your true mate, that’s why your scent has to be blocked. You are betrothed to the Rogue King and finding your true mate was not an option.” He received a warning growl from Ron.
“Betrothed?” I asked, confused.
“Yes. You have been betrothed, my lady, since you were a kid. Perhaps you forget it?”
Oh, my goddess!
“N-no of course not. I was just kidding,” I replied, nervously.
Ron nodded at the woman and she brought out a syringe filled with a sparkling substance. I was quickly dazzled by the color but the sight of the needle snapped me out of it.
“Pardon my actions, my lady.” She gently took my hand and inserted the needle to one of my veins. I flinched a little, it wasn’t as painful as expected, nothing could be as painful as being the pack’s punching bag. The memory of everything beating was registered in my head, a healer was being treated like a jewel while I was treated like the scum of the earth, that’s the vast difference between ranks.
“It is done.” She suddenly announced, I didn’t feel any different but I smiled at her.
“Thank you.”
She looked flustered and rushed away with a hint of pink on her cheeks.
“Your Highness, you shouldn’t attract the ladies too.” Blaze cried out in a grieved tone of voice as his eyes watered a little.
He had a rather attractive face with his thick red hair styled, tousled and combed nicely. His hair bangs framed his face nicely and neatly.
“I did nothing.” I couldn’t help but pout. Ron stared at the both of us without saying a word. “What’s next?”
For a response, Ron proceeded to push the door open. A lot of eyes fell on me and I froze.
“Remember a Queen’s words in a book I read before, Head high, chin high. Smile and do not cower.”
I heard Blaze mumble behind me and quickly composed myself.
I smiled as I took a step forward, Ron and Blaze took their places by my side as they led me into the hall, through the stairs to the wide array of people who were staring at me.
With their help, I didn’t trip on my gown and make a fool out of myself, Ron went behind me and expertly unclasp the brooch pin securing the fur cloak. Multiple gasps were heard as my gown was revealed to them.
“Welcome Lady Sabrina. Thank you for finally accepting my son.” A loud voice came from the podium.
Blaze subtly nudged me.
“The pleasure is mine.” I raised my voice to the hearing of everyone and heard a relieved sigh behind me. The conversations, laughter, and noise continued, I could see that a lot of people wanted to approach me but they did not.
I was both worried and confused at that moment. I was addressed as the lady once again but where is the true Healer? I kept a smile on my face as I was led by an omega to a corner where a couch was placed. I thanked her as two other omegas came with a bowl of fruits and a tray of champagne which was collected by both guards. The omegas were dismissed.
“Little Princess, I have to say I’m impressed. You have never been good with public speaking and that was the main worry of your mother.” Blaze said.
“Here comes the best part,” Ron continued. “Socializing. You have just a few minutes to prepare yourself to mingle with a lot of people here.”
“Is that compulsory?”
“Yes. You are the king’s mate now and he’ll flaunt this,” He pointed at the bracelet and the badge in my hand. “His majesty’s orders. He always likes to follow orders.” Blaze whispered.
“What about my orders?” I didn’t know where the boldness came from but I instantly regretted my words. I was not the healer! I don’t have the right to command her guards!
“I will only completely submit to you when you beat me in a duel,” Ron smirked at me. “The scent blocker will still be active for more than an hour. You just have to meet people and exchange greetings but remember, do not be too close to any male wolves. I’m not prepared to break fights.”
“Ok.” I was already in deep, there was no way I could change my mind now.
As we stepped out of the area which I assumed was closed off because of my presence, we were approached by some girls who wanted to become best friends with me, not that I would ever accept them.
I knew their kind. They only wanted to leech off me, and once I’m down, they’ll be the first set of people to ditch me. I noticed their eyes were fixed on my bracelet for reasons best known to them. I was thinking of an excuse to get away from them when I noticed Seven heading towards us.
His pheromones were strong but not overwhelming, the group of girls quickly excused themselves.
“Sabrina.” He nodded his head once towards me.
“S-Seven.” I returned the gesture, I was bold on the outside but I was a wreck inside. I was ready to see his face morph to that of anger but that never came.
He ran his hand through his head.
“Are you enjoying the Party so far?”
“Yes,” I tried not to laugh while Blaze chuckled behind me. “T-Thank you.”
“That’s good. I want you to get to know our people.”
Our people.. somehow his words made me nervous.
