TWENTY THREE

It was a brand new day, on Sunday to be precise, the previous day was a hectic one but I am glad nothing happened

Well everything was going on its own way, with drama unfolding and dark secrets we did not even expect to hear, the day ended pretty bad, Mrs. Montero was literally fuming with anger and I understood why, she was hurt and so will anyone else, it was devastating and hurting at the same time.

The argument went on and on until it was late night and Ely had to sleep over, her dad asked her to tell her mom that she was at a friend’s place, me of course, that way, she wouldn’t freak out, then they were going to talk things out today together with her mom, it was going to be a tough and rough day I know but we had the mindset already, so I saw no need of freaking out

“Morning?” Ely’s voice brought me back to earth from my reverie; we shared bed with hr just like we always did when she came for a sleep over at our place.

“Hey morning Ely, how was your sleep?” I asked as I sat on the bed and she did the same too

“Not good I have a terrible headache; I think it’s due to stress ad a lot of thoughts running in my mind” she said holding her had in her hands

“I’m sorry about that and I totally understand, I think I have some painkillers here, I always take them when I have a headache, they should help” I said as I stood up to go check in the drawer, I found some and I took a glass from the table and walked to where the dispenser was, I brought to her a glass of water and two pills

“Thank you, I hope they will help” she said as she handed me back the glass

“They sure will, I have been taking them for the longest time now and so far so good, so what is your plan when your mom comes? You do know she will be super mad right?” I asked as I took my earlier position on the bed beside her

“Honestly I can’t say I have anything to say and I don’t know what to do either, they will talk, I’m only a victim of circumstance here remember?” she asked and I couldn’t agree less with her, she was right and yes her parents were the ones to solve their differences

“You right by the way, your mom and dad should be the ones to solve their differences, you will choose whomever you want to stay with after they have agreed, but I must say, your grandparents didn’t have to make that decision for you, I understand they were trying to help you but he is your dad, they didn’t have to deny you the chance to be with him, you deserve your father’s love too” I said hoping it made her feel better

“Yeah I totally understand, I really want to feel my father’s love, being around him will make me compensate for what I already missed in my childhood” Ely said and I couldn’t agree less, she was right, one needed to feel both his or her parent’s love, it was mandatory and necessary, she was right

“I understand what you trying to mean, you deserve all the happiness and as a friend I just want to wish you all the best, I am happy for you and I’m glad you finally get to meet your dad’ I said as I took her hands in mine

“Great thanks to you, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have met him not today and not anytime soon” she said whilst smiling but I was glad I was the reason she got to meet her dad earlier than she had expected

“No don’t even mention it, it was just a coincidence and I’m happy for you” I said as I patted her on her back and she started smiling and she then laughed. “What is funny? Did I say something that made you laugh like that?” I asked still confused at why she was laughing all of a sudden

“No, not really I just thought about something and I found it funny, I mean it is funny ad I can’t believe that it just happened, the world is a small town” she said while still laughing and I was confused even more

“Tell me what is wrong, you are confusing me instead of just telling me what is happening, what is it?” I asked wanting to know what she was talking about

“Oh relax it is nothing big, nothing to worry you by the way, you remember when I told you I had a crush on Pedro?”She asked

“Of course I do remember, what about it?” she asked

“Well it just crossed my mind and I now find it funny, really funny, like I was having a crush on my own brother and my best friend’s boyfriend, who is now my sister in law, don’t you find it funny?” she asked and I actually found it ridiculous, so we were just not best friends but she was my sister in law

“Oh my God it didn’t even cross my mind, so from best friends to sisters I law, funny how the world is so small, I’m glad we growing more close than before, but remember, best friends still hold” I said and she gave me a high five

“Oh my God why can’t the two of you just shut up already? I’m trying to sleep here!” Talia shouted from her bed and I couldn’t hold back my laughter

“Ha-ha kid sis don’t pretend like you have not been awake all this time, you just jealous” I said in a mocking tone and she sneered

“,Jealous about what exactly Danny? You people should just go and make noise from outside, I am trying to sleep here so shush, both of you go outside” she said ad laughed at her own statement

“You see? Jealous doesn’t suit you Talia, it is not your portion, why don’t you just ask us what the gossip was about and then w will gladly feed you in” I said and she just laughed then raised her hands in surrender, it was what I always like about my sister, she is always open and very funny, easy to get along with and very rare to see her mad

“Okay, okay I already know I won’t win this battle, so tell me what I’m I jealous about, I don’t understand you guys” she said and I just smiled

“Well for starters, you don’t have a boyfriend or are you having a crush on someone? Someone I should be worried about?” I asked squinting my eyes at her and the look on her face said it all, my kid sister had a boyfriend but she didn’t bother to tell me, I kind of felt bad

“Well seems like you all have boyfriends before I tell you my story, why don’t Ely here tell us who the lucky guy is” Talia said and winked at her. Ely was smiling sheepishly and blushing profusely

“Well the wide blush on your face says it all, my girl here is in love with Jayden, I know that and by the way speaking of Jayden, I haven’t heard from him for a while now, is he okay, he hasn’t even visited Pedro, that s unlike of him” I said thoughtfully

“Oh I forgot to tell you, he went to India for further treatment, and you remember his problem? The Ampullary cancer, well he went for further treatment” Ely said and my heart skipped a beat, why did I not even think of it? Jayden had been suffering from that condition for a year and it had affected his liver, so he had gone to have a liver transfer, I hoped everything was going to be okay on his side

“Oh my God, I had even forgotten about it, I will face time him so I can offer my recovery and good luck on his surgery” I said and before they could reply, Mrs. Montero knocked and later came I since the door wasn’t locked

“Hello, good morning girls, you up already?” she asked with a smile on her face and I wondered how she changed her moods so easily, she had slept the previous day very sad and upset but here she was smiling like nothing happened

“Good morning too Mrs. Montero and yes we slept pretty well, what about you?” I asked on behalf of Talia and Ely

“I’m good Danny and I’m glad you are up, why don’t you guys freshen up then follow me to the kitchen, I want you to help me with something and I want to talk to you at the same time” she said and we all nodded in agreement, all of us wondering what she wanted to talk to us about
