UNEXPECTED CHANGE

CHAPTER THREE

As Samantha's, Sarah's, and Sophia's friendship strengthened, the time for Samantha and Sophia to begin college preparations came and they had to write and ace their CAE examinations. This made them find themselves reading and solving past questions at night... Despite being almost complete opposites, they were both exceptionally smart, which made it easier for them to understand what they read despite being away from their books for so long.

The day for their exams came and all the nervousness they'd barely felt came to them, making their knees weak and their palms sweat like someone was spraying water on them, their hearts beat as hard as a drum and they had to rely on each other for support, but thankfully, during the exams, the questions present were also the ones they had come across or read beforehand so it was quite a relief.

After the exams, they both came out looking very happy and chatted till they got home about the exams and how grateful to God they were that it came out like that. They agreed that the exams could not have been any more perfect and, when they got home, they told Sarah about how amazing it felt seeing all the questions and knowing you could only fail a maximum of 15. Sarah felt happy for them and hoped it would be as good for her when she writes next year.

After a lot of bubbly feelings, they decided to celebrate. They had so much fun and stayed so long that they were only home at dawn.

When they got back, they ran straight to Mr. Stanley and his wife told them all about their day, which made the adults feel proud of the kids and encouraged them to keep it up, promising them success if they did. After that, the kids went to their rooms,

With the kids out of sight. Mr. Stanley decides to tell his wife about his failing business and how customers order things that he doesn't have money to provide. And he tells her how he plans on convincing the wealthiest aristocrat in their society to invest in his business and, urges her to pray it works, which leads her to ask him questions about where the money went, but he simply brushes her off and asks her to just pray for him. But she complied with Unknownst them. Samantha had overheard their conversation in the living room and this gave her a sense of guilt and made her wonder if the presence of her and her sister brought such bad luck upon them. She started thinking of ways to help, but she couldn't come up with anything without a downside. Sophia noticed this and asked Samantha about it, but Samantha felt that Sophia's parents might not have intentions of telling her, so she just blamed her extreme absentmindedness on the books she was reading, which Sophia thankfully believed.

The next day, Sophia noticed that she had zoned out again and got worried and offered to take her out to clear her mind, which Samantha agreed to avoid suspicion. After a lot of thinking and voting, they decided to go to a mall and there they crossed paths with Mr James Andrew, one of the wealthiest business tycoons in Australia. Samantha, having recognized him from all the books she had read, ran up to him and greeted him. At first, he was startled, but then he saw her face and realized it was a child.

He liked her energy and, at that very moment, he knew she was smart. This instantly made him softer towards her, mostly because he didn't have a female child, and throughout the time Samantha spoke about how much she loved his work, he thought, to ask her age, so that he would know if she'd match with his son and when she said she was 17 he felt disappointed mainly because girls like this were rare and this is what he wants as a daughter-in-law. Samantha was so happy after meeting him that when she waved goodbye she skipped, as she went back to Sophia, which made the man call them to ask if they were friends. They told him they were cousins who lived together, and then Samantha said she liked to have his card which he found in his pocket. He gave it to them and told them that if they were done buying he could pay for them immediately before he left. Sophia tried to refuse but Samantha immediately let him know they were done and they left the mall with hearts of joy, especially Samantha, who had just met her role model. After they had gotten home, Samantha jumped straight onto Sarah's bed and talked for over an hour about him and their encounter, about his life which she had read, about how nice he was when they met, and so on.

Mr James on the other hand thought about Samantha and how perfectly she would've fit his son so he called his son and asked him if he would like to marry a girl he(his father) picked out and Oliver replied "I don't exactly have someone in my life right now so I don't mind" so his father asked him what age difference he would have no problem with and he replied "I would want her to be 2 to 3 yrs younger" this made his father sigh in disappointment and at that very moment Mr James realized he knew nothing about Samantha including where she was and this infuriated him and he dismissed him, meanwhile Oliver Andrew (Mr James Andrew's son) left thinking he had annoyed his father, he didn't like this feeling so he went for a drive to clear his head and at the same time Samantha decided to stroll to clear her head because she was feeling too happy and on her way a car was driving too fast and splashed mud on her, she was angry mostly because what she had on was white and she began to shout at the driver and the car stopped a little away from her, she marched up to him angrily and knocked very hard on the window of the passenger's seat, Mr Oliver angrily wind down the car window and glared at her, then he asked "what is it young lady" and the absurdity of the question made her laugh, then she replied "what is it!? what is it!!??, are you kidding me!?" then she moved to the side of the car he was on and she stepped back a little and when he saw what he had done his jaw dropped and he decided to apologize but before he could she shushed him and asked him to fix it, this pissed him off and he calmly said "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to splash mud on you, it won't happen again" Samantha, after listening realized that this man wasn't serious so she went back to the passenger's seat and got in and she told him "I've heard your apology but as you must know, your apology won't clean my hoodie and trousers so get moving, you look rich so you'll buy me now ones and if you try to kidnap me, you'll live to regret it"After a lot of arguing, he bought her the exact same model as she was wearing and drove her home after.

She ended up talking about it to Sarah and Sophia and they all laughed at him.
