UNEXPECTED CHANGE

CHAPTER FOUR

Samantha's uncle was panicking about his business going down and he was desperate for the investors but there was no one he had access to... This caused him to develop a weak heart from hypertension and he was in and out of the hospital a lot... One day, Samantha's uncle was walking around the house, looking for Sarah, when he stumbled upon the card given to Samantha by Mr. James Andrew, he picked it up, saw numbers to call to get an appointment with him,m and saw the name on it. The name rang a bell but he couldn't quite figure it out, so he googled it and when he came to the realization that he had a way to get an investor, he immediately felt joy but also worry as to how many of the girls could have gotten the card.

In the evening, he called his wife and told her that he found a card containing the numbers to the office of one of the biggest business tycoons in Ballajura, This made his wife ask, "And of what importance is that to us?" made him tell her that, technically, they had an investor and if this works, his business might bloom and be better than before, and when his wife realized the point he was making, she felt overjoyed and asked him if he had called yet to know whether he was going to be able to get the wealthy man to invest and he said he hadn't so she suggested they call immediately, which they did but were told to call back early the next day as the boss had gone home now, which they did and after lots of talking to both the secretary and the boss, he had an appointment which made him take the whole family out and as surprised as they were they went along and felt even happier when they found out it was because he had a chance to make his business prosper, they became happier.

They spent the day exploring parks and visiting malls, and then they went to a photo booth and took some photos to cherish that moment.

Finally the day of the appointment came and Samantha's uncle was to try to convince Mr James Andrew to invest in his business, he had practiced his lines with his wife before leaving and was sure he would get the job, he got into his car and drove to the office and after seeing the size, thought to himself "this man could pay me a million dollars every month and he wouldn't even feel it" then he walked inside, spoke to the secretary and met Mr James, he talked a lot and answered a lot of questions but in the end he was denied the investment which hurt him so bad he felt he might actually have a c***k in his heart and he was so close to tears, but as he stood up and bent over to arrange the lower part of his trousers, one of the pictures from the day at the photo booth fell out and Mr James asked him "is that from my table?", he replied "no sir" but Mr James being suspicious decided to see it so he asked for it and when it was handed to him, he saw Sophia in it and thought she looked familiar, then he saw Samantha and his eyes widened with a mix of shock and happiness and he stood up from his seat and asked him "who is this girl", Samantha's uncle who was already scared at this point answered "she's my niece, the daughter of my late brother" and Mr James said "so you are like a father to her now?" and he replied "yes" while nodding, so Mr James called him back and asked him to sit, then he said "it's my investment you want am I right?" and Samantha's uncle replied "yes sir" with hope in his heart and Mr James said "you will get that but on one condition", Samantha's uncle's heart raced now and he asked "what sir" and the man said "marry your daughter off to my son" and Mr Stanley (Samantha's uncle) sat there in shock then he stuttered "b-but she still has school to go t-to, she can't leave her school

I'm sorry", to which Mr James replied, "No one said anything about leaving her school. I will foot all her bills till she's done and invest in your business if you just give my family her hand in marriage". This prompted Mr. Stanley to ask why he wanted one of his daughters' hands in marriage and Mr. James revealed how they had met before, how she spoke with elegance and how clear it was that she had a big brain, how he could also see that she was respectful and sensible, especially as a teenager". This answered Mr. Stanley's question about where they got Mr. James' card, then Mr. James asked "what is her name" and Mr. Stanley replied " Samantha Williams, and he promised to think about it and get back to him before leaving. After Mr. Stanley had walked out of his office. He sat down in his car and thought about the offer, thinking about how good the offer seemed but also how it might affect Samantha negatively, but then he took a deep breath and decided to leave it all to God and talk to his wife when he got home. He knew that his wife might be annoyed because he even considered trading their child for selfish reasons, but he also knew that his wife was understanding so she might get it so he talked to her when she got back from work and she stared at him for a long time, then said "Samantha? " and he said "yes" then she said " how old is his son?" to which he replied "I do not know", realizing that he hadn't asked important questions, he decided to go there the next day and get Mr. James' phone number.

The next day, Mr Stanley had woken up late because he had been thinking deep into the night and slept very little. He was wondering whether he wanted to place Samantha in a permanent condition for his temporary happiness, but at the same time, it felt so worth it.

Mr Stanley got in his car and went over to Mr James' office and luck was on his side because Mr James had expected his return and had come to the office on that day, so he went into the office and was greeted by Mr James with a smile who asked "have you made up your mind Mr Stanley?" and he answered "no sir" so Mr James asked him "why are you here then" and he answered "I'm here to ask questions asked questions like "how old is your son sir" and Mr James' smile noticeably ceased and he said "why?" and Mr Stanley replied "I want to know the age of whose hands I'm putting my child in" and he replied "my son is in his late 20s Mr Stanley, are you in or out" and Mr Stanley against his better judgment agreed signed the contract for the investment and left, because of which he was shaking in his seat, he was mostly sad because he knew that if it had been his daughter Sophia, he wouldn't have agreed and it made him think that maybe he didn't love them like his own daughters and it saddened him so much that he decided to just stay in the car and try to calm down, he ended up falling asleep and when he woke up later and drove home to rest.

In the evening his wife came back and saw how down he was, so she asked "What happened? Did you go back to the office? Did you tell him no?"

but he was just silent so she asked "What did you do? and he replied"I'm sorry but we need the money" this made her feel so disgusted with him that she stood up and slept that night in the living room, she was angry and the next morning she woke up for work and told him "you better tell Samantha what you've done " and those words made him gulp his spit and after she had left he called Samantha to the living room and said "Sam, you know the investment I said I was going to bag?, the reason we celebrated on Saturday" she nodded and he said" I got it but at the cost of your happiness and I'm sorry" this confused her so much that she thought he might be mistaken and began telling him "uncle it's okay, I'm sure whatever it was, was for the good of the family" and he bowed his head in shame then he said "Sam, you're getting married the moment you turn 18, I gave your hand in marriage to Mr James Andrew the business tycoon" and Samantha thinking that he meant Mr James Andrew himself got annoyed and confused so she stood up and asked "I'm sorry how did that happen" and he began explaining things to her, from how he found the card to how he called the number on it up to how he got there and got told by Mr James how they had met in the mall, then hyperventilating with beads of sweat on her forehead she said "and you accepted!? oh God, I'm too young for this, I can't do this, I can't" before passing out.

This made him panic and shout for Sarah and Sophia to rush her to the hospital, but when Sophia got there and realized she had just passed out from shock, she splashed some water on her face which jolted her awake and the moment Samantha woke up, she hugged Sophia and Sarah and cried. She and when she told them what had happened, Sophia couldn't believe it. She asked her father if it was true and he answered "I'm sorry". Then she asked if her mom knew about it and he replied "she does, which is why we didn't sleep together last night" and Sophia said. Then she was right, if you're willing to give a child's hand in marriage to an old man, then you're just as bad as him". Here her father realized the misunderstanding and said "she's getting married to his son, not to him. I meant I gave her hand in marriage to Mr James' family, not exactly to him" and this relieved them a little and they asked if he had signed a contract of agreement to which he said yes, then they faced Samantha and asked her if she knew his son and she replied, "I do not" so they decided that they would do a proper introduction.
