Five years had passed since the emergence of vampires in the city. These creatures lived on human blood, possessing strength beyond that of ordinary humans. They concealed their true forms, blending in with the rest of society. Fhiona stumbled backward, her eyes fixed on the man who had been following her. "W-who are you?" she stuttered, trying to compose herself. "W-why are you following me?" Fhiona's breathlessness was evident, her chest heaving from the exertion of running. She had been forced to hide in the abandoned warehouse, but the man had still managed to catch up to her. Just moments before, Fhiona had been working at the convenience store, forced to put in overtime due to an event. The prospect of earning extra income had been appealing, but now it seemed like a mistake. As she gazed around the dimly lit warehouse, Fhiona's eyes locked onto the man's sinister grin. He was dressed in a polo shirt and black pants, giving off the appearance of a businessman. His demeanor seemed innocuous, but Fhiona knew better. The man's response sent shivers down Fhiona's spine. "You don't need to know," he said, his voice trembling as his fangs appeared. "It'll be quick; you won't feel the pain." Fhiona's eyes widened in terror as she realized the man's true nature. "Are you a vampire?" Fhiona asked, her voice barely above a whisper. The man didn't respond, his gaze fixed intently on her. Fhiona's eyes darted around the warehouse, desperately searching for an escape or someone to help her. But she was alone. The man pounced, his fangs bared as he lunged at Fhiona. But she was quicker, grabbing his hand and twisting it with a strength that belied her slender frame. The man was taken aback, stumbling backward as he clutched his injured hand. His eyes narrowed, his brow furrowed in surprise. As the man gazed at Fhiona, he was struck by her unusual features. Her fangs were longer than usual, her eyes a piercing blue. Her hair turned from black to a deep, smooth ginger, and her nails were long and sharp. The man's eyes widened in realization. "P -Pure blood?" he asked, his voice tinged with a mixture of surprise and amusement. Fhiona's eyes flashed with anger, but the man continued, his words dripping with sarcasm. "Who would have thought that there's still a pure blood in this era? Weren't you all wiped out by..." The man's words were cut short as Fhiona launched herself at him, her fists flying as she pummeled him with a ferocity that sent him crashing to the ground. Despite his struggles, the man was no match for Fhiona's strength. His arm was broken, and he could barely stand, but he refused to back down. As Fhiona stood over him, her chest heaving with exertion, the man gazed up at her with a mixture of fear and admiration. "You need to hide," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "They'll surely catch you soon. Your time is running out... pure blood." Fhiona's eyes flashed with anger, but she didn't hesitate. With a swift motion, she reached out and ripped the man's heart from his chest. As he slumped to the ground, Fhiona crushed the heart in her hand, her eyes gleaming with a fierce intensity. The man's body crumpled to the ground, lifeless. As Fhiona stood there, her chest still heaving with exertion, she whispered a single phrase to the air. "If you had just answered my question and left me alone, your death wouldn't have been hastened..."
