Ep. 2 The Rain Before The Storm

1646 Words
I lay still on the floor, waiting for the second Klaus leaves. When he does I grab an old shirt and shred it, using it as gauze for some of my harsher wounds. I wince as I peal the part of my dress that had stuck to my wounds from the dried blood. What a monster. My main goal is to get out of here, eventually. I know I can’t stay forever. This place is horrid, and being a lone wolf is better than being part of this pack. I’m going to escape, but I have to time it right so I don’t get killed running out. But escape will be all in good time. First, I have to get vengeance. No one excluded. There’s a knock at my door. I roll my eyes, expecting Klaus or the doctor pack doctor. To my surprise, a shock of short blue-silver hair enters; YK, my elder brother. He treated Rosemary so kindly when she was younger. He was the only one to try to help her and stand up for her, even if it wasn’t much. But as they got older, he got more stricter, restricting what she could wear or who she would be with. He especially didn’t like her around other males. And after the mating moon passed, and Rosemary claimed Klaus as her mate, YK quickly turned on her. He was the first to call her a liar. It’s fishy he turned on her so quickly. But then again, none of her family have proven in the past to be reliable. When I see him, a faint memory fizzes in my mind, but somehthing is blocking it. Something that this body doesn't want to remember. I narrow my eyes. “Rosemary,” he greets lightly, waving with a small grin. As if he couldn’t see the state I’m in or didn't care at least. “Just wanted to check in on you.” “What do you want YK?” I coldly reply, focusing on wrapping my wounds. His eyes dart down to the injuries for a moment, before darting back to me. “You know, you really asked for this.” He comments with a sad frown. My body halts. A fire ignites inside me. Have they ever thought about what they’ve done? No one in the pack even listened to her or considered the possibility! They just immediately called her a liar and ganged up on her; just they've always done to her! Rosemary isn’t a liar. It’s taking all the strength in me to not lunge for the stupid werewolf’s neck. “What I’ve done? Tell me YK, what have you done?” I snap back in a low growl. YK blinks in shock. “What I’ve done?” He laughs unsurely, thinking I'm joking. I let out a cruel laugh, “it doesn’t matter, I wouldn’t be able to get the idea through your thick skull anyways. It’s too stupid to comprehend anything or have a mind of it’s own.” I hiss; his mouth drops. “What are you talking about? Rosemary, you’re not acting like yourself, you're acting strange. Maybe I should call Gr-“ “Don’t act you know me, you just liked to own me. Get out. I’m tired of you.” I shoo away, standing to my feet while glowering at my so-called my brother. He frowns deeply. “Rosemary,” he reaches his hands towards me but I back away with a glare. “Sit down, I think you’re just feeling a little ill.” “Oh YK I can promise you I’m feeling a lot of things right now, but ill is not one of them. Now get out, before I force you out.” YK stares me me for a moment, then he sighs. “All right, I just came here to see how you’re doing, and remind you that for your own well-being, you shouldn’t play this charade anymore. You’re not the Alphas Luna and you’re not his mate. The sooner you accept that the better; you need to be finding your actual mate.” "Whatever YK, just get out of my room.” Klaus is last person in the world I would ever want to be with. Hera can have him. I nearly jump when I hear a soft whine in the corners of my mind. Is that... my inner wolf? She whimpers in agreement to my question. “Get well Rosemary,” he says as he exits. Two-face. But it did open an interesting development. Until now, I hadn’t heard a single peep from my wolf, until I thought about Hera and Alpha Klaus together. From Rosemarys memory’s, I know that her wolf caused her a lot of harm; more harm than good. As her wolf would naturally do, it kept leading her to seek comfort and solace in her mate. Rosemary should have left him the second he showed to be interested in someone else, but she didn’t because of her wolf. Her wolf kept urging her to reach for him, to get his attention, to get his love, and in the end it cost Rosemary her life. Not like it’s the Rosemary’s or the wolfs fault at all, the fault lies solely on Klaus and the pack. But I cant deal with the possibility of her wolf doing it again but to me. She may urge me to go after Klaus too, and I can’t let that. That man is despicable and doesn’t deserve any forgiveness. Shutting my eyes, I focused in on my mind, and a shut a wall between me and the wolf. Instantly, my mind feels cold. And it’s silent. I sigh deeply. I hope I don’t regret this. OoO Hera hasn’t stopped pacing the room she and Klaus share, running her hands anxiously through her long, dark tresses. He’s been gone for a while now, after he left to punish Rosemary when he finally grew tired of her insistent pleas that he’s her mate. Finally he took some initiative! The fact it took him this long to snap should have been enough to expose Hera. Mates are more fiercely protective than the restraint he’s shown, if he was her actual mate, he would’ve lost his cool by now. But Hera still won in the end, and now her once friend is hopefully dead or on the verge of it. YK will be a little upset, but nothing that time and finding his true mate won’t fix. The pack will move on and it may even get a little better around without that annoying wrench around. Hera hears the door open, and a smile lights up on her face when she sees her Alpha enter. “Klaus!” She breathes happily, racing into his arms. She frowns when he doesn’t immediately embrace her back, standing tensely still. “Hera.” He greets shortly, but nonetheless gently, back. Hera pulls away slightly to stare Klaus in the eyes. He appears sad; is he sad about Rosemary? Anger seeps into her veins. “What is it Klaus?” She asks tightly. “Nothing... it’s just...” he sighs when he trails off, pulling out of her hold. “Tonight, when I punished Rosemary, my anger got the best of me.” Hera huffs, “so? She knows what she did wrong.” “I know that Hera,” he snaps, Hera blinks. Until tonight, he would have never spoken to her that way. He sighs again, “I’m sorry love. It’s just that tonight I think I went a little too far; I couldn’t feel her pulse for a moment.” Happiness and excitement races through her. “So, Rosemary... she’s dead?” She questioned gently, trying to keep the joy out of her tone. “No,” her joy drops. “I thought I killed her for a moment, so I called Grayden, he felt a pulse.” “All right so it sounds like she’s fine, so what’s got you so worked up?” Hera couldn’t help the irritation leaking through this time. “It’s just... she should’ve been dead. And I nearly killed one of my pack,” he chokes near the end. “And then I learned new information about Grayden that’s unsettling-“ “What’s that? And from who?” She interrupts. Klaus breathes another sigh. “It doesn’t matter, don’t worry about it. I’m going to take care of it.” Hera moves closer to Klaus, touching his back. “Klaus, if I’m going to be your Luna soon, I need to be included on this stuff.” He looks at her for a moment, before ruffling her hair gently. “You will be soon. But for now, let me handle this.” Hera grows furious at the dismissal and not being included, but hides it behind a face of cool acceptance. “Fine. I just wish you wouldn’t shut me out.” She turns away from him, shutting her eyes tightly. She hides a pleased grin when she feels Klaus touch her back comfortingly. “I’m sorry Hera, I don’t mean to, and I hope I can get better on that. But you also have to remember we discovered that we’re mates only weeks ago. Just because we’re mates doesn’t mean everything is all going to be instant and perfect. I still need time before I can open up. But I promise you I am trying.” He coos into her ear, pulling her into his warm embrace. Hera leans back against his hold. “I can give you some time.” But it better be soon, her mind finishes. “But I’m also going to be your Luna, you can’t always keep me in the dark.” “And I promise I won’t.” Klaus’s assures back. Hera internally grins.
