Chapter 4 Thank You, Mr. Baritone

1423 Words
DANIELLE “I don't accept any apology; I won't forgive anyone. The wedding will be cancelled if I say cancel." I said, in the calmest voice I could muster, trying not to show the extent of my emotions. I looked at my half sister, noticing that she didn’t utter a word. There were no reactions whatsoever. Not like I cared, anyway. At least not for people who only wanted to see me shed tears and suffer. Without further ado, and without looking back, I made my way out of the house, not wanting my father, or his other family, see me breakdown. I knew spending any more minute there would have me collapsing to the ground with heart wrenching sobs. I didn’t want that. At all. For now, I had to get out of there. And fast. Which was what I did, walking as fast as my legs could carry me. I pulled over a taxi, but I didn't know where to go. I obviously had a home, but it was going to be lonely as hell. And the thought of going there, made me sick to my stomach. I just told the driver to keep going, until finally, through blurred vision, I saw the signs of a bar. “I’ll drop of here.” I said, pulling out a dollar bill, and giving to the driver, before stepping out of the car. When I stepped into the bar, the air was filled with smoke, and the noise too loud that I began to feel the first signs of a headache coming on. But this kind of torture seemed to be the redemption at the moment. I seldom came to such bars, as I was used to a more exquisite sort of lifestyle that involved actual wine. Cup after cup I drank, asking for more. Alcohol not only relieved my pain, but also made my mind more and more unconscious. A man, who was clearly drunk, walked up to me to strike up a conversation, but I wasn't having it. I was doing a good job ignoring him when I felt him grab my arm, trying to pull me with him. What the_ Why the heck did people think they could do whatever they liked to others? His grip on my arm tightened as I fought against him, still sober enough to know that the minute he successfully got me out of the bar, I was done for. “Let me go this instant!” I screamed and kicked at him to let me go, but the relentless man continued pulling at me. All of a sudden, the man stopped and looked at something behind me with a quite unreadable expression on his face. I blinked, and turned in the direction he was looking, but could only get a not so clear image of a very tall man. Who was he? Why had his presence made the crazy man stop? "Let her go." A cold baritone. Those were the words to describe his voice as he spoke. "With... with what? Oh..." The man who was still holding my hand said, but was instantly yanked away from me. I quickly shifted away from the two men in time to see a very hard blow land on the cheek of the man who has been holding onto my hand. I gasped as Mr. baritone lifted him up, and slammed him back to the ground with a sickening crunch. Shit! That was going to hurt so bad. But he deserved it. Where he got the strength to stand up and run away was beyond me as I could only watch. The effects of the alcohol was becoming too much at this point. Gosh. My knees felt weak as hell. I turned to Mr. Baritone to see him standing directly behind me. “Thank you, Mr. Baritone.” I slurred, wobbling on my feet as the effects of the alcohol started to come in full force. ~ ALEXANDER Finally, I had found her. I reached forward, just in time to catch the obviously drunk woman, before she got the floor. She was as weak as a baby in my arms, and smelled of both alcohol and citrus. Without wasting more time, I picked her up bridal style, and started to make my way out of the bar, and towards my car. The driver opened the door for me once I got there, and I placed her carefully inside, before shutting the door and walking around to the other side to get in. The thought that never left my mind was how little she weighed. Did she even eat? As the car conveyed us to my house, I watched her, as she struggled against drunkenness and failed. Why had she even chosen to drink so much and get wasted to the extent she couldn’t even stand in her own two feet. And she had been alone in that bar. No friends, nothing. I didn’t even want to think about what might have happened of I hadn’t come the time I did. That sick man would’ve…fuck! I should give disfigured that man’s face for ever laying a finger on her. With a sigh, I looked away, after noticing that she had finally fallen asleep. Probably from the steady rocking of the car. It wasn’t long before we reached my home, and once again, I carried her bridal style, into the house, and up the stairs, before dropping her on the bed. The fact that she smelled so good, despite the alcohol, did not sit well with me. And her body had felt familiar. Too familiar. That didn’t sit well with me either. It brought back too many memories.. and this was certainly not the time for such memories. I had chosen the room next to mine, since I knew that dropping her in my own room would not only be inappropriate, but rude. The woman looked like she would spit fire of angered. I spared her a brief look, before I turned away, intent on leaving the room and putting as much distance as possible, but was stopped by a small hand. Her dainty fingers wrapped around my wrist, stopping me. I turned to face her with a frown etched on my face. What did she want? She looked so delicate and… "Tyler... don't... go..." she pleaded in a slurred voice, blinking her beautiful eyes at me. I immediately felt my body go stiff at the mention of her ex’s name. Like hell did she have to mention his name in my presence. For some reason, it angered me that she would still be thinking of that man when I was right there with her. And even think that I, Alexander, was another man. “Sorry to c***k your little bubble, but I am not Tyler.” I said in the coldest voice I could manage, not caring that she was drunk and wasn’t thinking clearly. The look on her face was priceless. Clearly, my voice sounded strange to her ears, hence the look of confusion on her face. To add salt to the injury, I leaned forward, going closer to her face. “See? I am not Tyler.” The frown on her face deepened. She was obviously struggling to know who it was she was with. Good. I hated being petty, but heck! But being so close to her had its consequences, as I was reminded of the night we had spent together. Vivid images from that night flooded my memories, and out of pure reflex, my eyes landed on her full red lips, reminding me of the kiss they had shared. s**t! I felt something stir in me at that image and memory. How she had felt in my arms, how she had tasted, how she had sounded, all of them came to me at once. Everything had been so out of control, but yet so passionate... How she had begged for me to f**k her and make her c*m…shit! With all the strength I had in me, I straightened and shifted away from her, yanking my hand away as I did. But she didn’t move and I soon came to the realization that she had fallen asleep. She had fallen asleep while I had been reliving the night that would never go away from my head, no matter how much I tried not to think about it. With a sigh, I picked the duvet, and covered her, before making my way out of the room.
