“Well William, what brings you to Germany? Family matters?” she asks.
“Why would you think that” asked William.
“Easy dummy” she responded, “Von Tromp, obviously you have family here in Germany, but I do not know of any Von Tromps that live in Wiesbaden thou, so it must be family on your mother’s side then.”
“Great” he heard Sebastian in his head, “first town, first dead end”
“Thanks for the informative evening” William said as he greeted Paige. “Maybe I will see you again sometime” and with that he walked back to his Hotel.
“Good morning William” said Jennifer as he walked into the dining room. “There was a pretty young lady here earlier looking for you, but I told her you are still sleeping. She did leave a note for you thou”
“Morning Jennifer” William replied, “and thank you, I needed the sleep after the flight”
We need to talk dummy!
What kind of a note is that? Who will leave me such a note?
“Paige” said Sebastian, “she called you dummy last night remember? But what is so urgent to talk about?”
When William left the hotel at around 10am, he could feel the cold weather starting to settle into town. “Winter is coming” he thought, “my favourite time of year”
William was still deep in thought when he felt a sudden pain in his arm, and as he turned around he could swear he saw his father just before he collapsed on the ground.
When William woke up, he found himself tied to a chain, inside what looked like a prison cell. As his eyesight adjusted to the dim surroundings he heard someone talking not too far away, “What do you think he is doing here, and is he actually who he said he is?” William tried to look around, but saw no-one. “Sebastian, why can’t I see clearly in the dark” but there was no response from his wolf.
“If he really is a Von Tromp, then we have a problem” he heard someone else speak, but he could not place the voices.
“Awake at last I see” he heard someone talk to him. “Who are you, and where do you come from?” but William still couldn’t see the person talking to him.
“William Von Tromp” he replied, “and I just arrived here wanting to locate my family. I heard that my parents were originally from Wiesbaden. I am looking to get some answers from anyone that might know my family”
“And who might your father be?” the voice continued.
“Gabriel Von Tromp” William said.
“Don’t lie to me!” the man behind William screamed, as he sensed the man getting closer to the cell, “Gabriel Von Tromp is dead!”
“I can assure you, my father is very much alive” William said, “you must be thinking of a different person maybe. Why am I even here?” William asked.
“Don’t get clever with me boy” the man said as he walked around and William saw him. All blood left William’s face as he looked up in horror. Why is his father standing here in front of him, claiming that his father is dead, pretending to be someone else?
“Who are you?” asked William, as he felt the effects of the drug getting less, and gaining more confidence.
“I am Adolf Von Tromp” replied the man. “Now tell me again, who are you, and why are you pretending to be my dead brother’s son?”
William at first couldn’t answer, but then Sebastian spoke to him. “Your Uncle, must be identical twins?”
“Thank goodness you are back” said William to Sebastian.
“I am not lying to you, I have no reason to lie” said William, “I am the son of Gabriel and Delilah Von Tromp”
Just then Adolf hit William so hard that he lost his conscience.
“Keep your head down” Sebastian told William when he woke up, “let’s see if we can hear anything that can help us by listening to them for a while”
“How is this possible” William suddenly heard a female voice, “Uncle Gabriel is dead, we received that news merely a week after they were excommunicated from our pack. Aunt Delilah herself sent us the message, and that was when Charles and Margaret decided to go and live with her. But they sent word that they found her dead also. They were killed by terrorist in some war in dark Africa”
“Well, it seems like these were all lies, all a smoke screen to lead us off their tracks. We never could find any trace of the bodies in Burundi. It looks like we made a mistake to assume they were burnt with the other people” said Adolf.
“We need to wake William up” said the female, and suddenly William recognised the voice “Paige” he said to Sebastian. “That will explain the change in her eyes when I introduced myself, but why lie to us?
William felt a bucket of water thrown into his face, and looked up at them.
“Nice to meet you, cousin” William said. “But tell me, why all of this” as he shook his chained hands. “Why the cell, and why lie to me about there being no Von Tromp family in Wiesbaden?”
“If you are truly a Von Tromp” Adolf said, “then tell me the one secret we hold closest to our hearts, the one we cannot share with people”
“You mean the fact that we are all werewolves?” asked William.
“Hahahaha” laughed Adolf “those do not exist, that is a myth, everyone knows that”
“We can change” said Sebastian, “whatever drug they gave us has totally worn off.”
“But what if they are right, what if my father faked his death for his family to never find out what he was. Remember, he always spoke of me being different, telling me that MY KIND will know if something happened”
“I am shifting with or without you” and before William could say anything, he felt Sebastian take over and shifted.
Looking up at Adolf and Paige, William saw no fear in their eyes, they didn’t even flinch when he shifted.
“You can change back” said Adolf, “I believe that you are a Von Tromp”
“You are different William” said Adolf after William has changed back and into clothes. “You are definitely a Von Tromp, but there is something unique about you. As you can see, you do not bear the same resemblances of Von Tromps before us. White hair, blue eyes, definitely not a family trait”
“Then how do you know I am a Von tromp” asked William.
