Something about Ingrid

Cooper "Hey, love, you're back from work? Let me get your bag." Aurelia moved to take my bag, but she paused on a second thought, trying to reach for my coat to get me to pull it off. "Don't bother." On my way to take a shower in the bathroom, my legs resumed their usual pace after I had halted for her earlier. "Why did you come back so late? Is there so much work at the office? What would you like to eat so I will have it prepared?" she hastened her step to hug my elbow. We got to the room together, and she dropped my bag on the table, taking a seat and waiting for my response, but I didn't have any reply for her. I took off my coat, and she came forward to collect it. Till my suit came off and with me feeling her piercing gaze on my body, still clad in my underwear, my legs moved to the bathroom, leaving her behind. "But you haven't said anything on what you would like to eat and why you came..." I shut the door, muting her voice, and calmly took my shower. When I came out, she was seated on the couch, admiring her nails, and slowly her gaze cast at me, her mouth a little bit open. She stood up without breaking contact with my body. "Why are you still here? Get out," I informed her while getting into a comfy wear for the night. "This is unfair, we are married and you don't treat me like your wife. I asked why you came back so late and what you would prefer to eat, no response, and this arrangement of sleeping separately..." She nagged, and I cut in. "Aurelia! Don't push it. I had a long day at work today." "But..." A glare from me made her stomp her leg on the floor, looking at me with tear-brimmed eyes. "You know that won't work on me, and shut the door behind you as you make your way out." My tone was cold, and she turned, walking away. I walked to my bed and tried to get some sleep, though the thoughts of someone kept crossing my mind. The next morning, I got down the stairs clad in my suit as early as possible. When I got to the living room, Aurelia came into view, stopping me in my steps, letting me know that breakfast was ready. "Where is Holly?" I asked. "How am I supposed to know that?" she replied, but then her eyes widened a bit as she tried to reframe her words. "She's probably still sleeping in her room, so do you..." I made my way out to the exit where the car was parked, and the driver walked to the side to open up the door. We drove out afterwards, heading to the company. When we got there, I could see James standing outside through the tinted glass, and he came over to open up my side of the door while the driver drove off to park. "Good morning, boss." He smirked, and I looked him up in his wine-colored suit and barely responded as we both walked in together. When we got into the elevator and just as James picked our desired floor and the door was about to close, a hand reached in between and quickly got in before it shut. "Good morning, sirs," Ingrid's voice warmly said, but I didn't respond, watching how she took in harsh breaths. "Good morning, baby. Slow down, would you? We got in together today, what a coincidence," James responded while I kept my gaze looking forward. "My husband didn't want me to take my usual motorcycle and rather chose to drop me," she explained, making me look at her cheeks, which had turned crimson. The elevator dinged, indicating the second floor where James was supposed to stop. "You're married? That's unbelievable," James remarked, unbothered. "For how long?" "I would suggest you get to work, James," I declared, and he hurriedly told Ingrid they would talk at the cafeteria during lunch and left. My eyes watched as she clicked her heels on the floor, just standing by the side. Her chattering died down, and silence took over. When the elevator made a ding sound, we both walked out together, and she made her way forward to open the door of my office. "Sir, we have a meeting with Richgrid Security and Tech by 10 a.m., but there's something else before then. Have you eaten breakfast?" she asked. "No," I opened up. "Let's get you something to eat. I haven't eaten either, so I will get my order now. We can use your office together, right?" She held her hands together in anticipation. "Sure," I agreed, though not knowing why. She went out and came back with the meals. She served it, snapped it, before she motioned that we could pick up the spoon to eat. It tasted strange but nice. "You don't usually eat takeout, I can guess, but since you like to skip your meals, then we would make do with what we can." She took a spoonful, eating it while complaining. We finished, and she cleared the place, but she got busy a little on her phone, smiling, and I wondered who made her do that. "Get to work!" I stood up and made my way to my desk, revising the emails I hadn't attended to. "Yes, sir." She took the packages and made her way out, and I couldn't help stare at her in curiosity till the door closed up. When it was 9:30 a.m., she made her way back in to take my coat, the necessary documents, and we made our way to the second floor till we got to the conference room. "I will go get Richard downstairs, sir." She left even before I could oppose it. He could simply find his way to the conference floor by himself! James walked in and sat by the left chair, squinting at me, and I glared back. The thought of how Ingrid effortlessly called the CEO of the company working for us by his first name stuck, making me feel uneasy.
