Chapter 12

Chloe POV

I wake up feeling Henry beside me cuddling me. His breathing is on my neck and I feel goosebumps.

“Good morning,” he says and I shiver

“Morning”

“How are you feeling today?” He asks and I smile. His hand is around my waist and he pulls closer. I smile but my smile falls when I feel nauseous again. No-no-no. I push his hand and I stand up running to the bathroom. For a week now every morning I feel nauseous and continue the rest of the day. I’m in the bathroom, unfortunately, my head in the toilet when I hear a knock on the door and Henry’s voice

“Are you ok sugar?”

“Give me a minute,” I said with a shaking voice. God, I hate this. I feel a hand holding my hair and another caress my back. I sense immediately who he is and Henry talks to me with a calm voice trying to make me relax.

“Thank you. I’m better now” I say when I finish and he helps me stand up. I wash my teeth and I go to the bedroom. When Henry finished from the bathroom he sat next to me on the bed.

“Are you ok now?” He asks and I nod. I rest my head on his shoulder

“You should go to the doctor. It’s been a week now”

“I will. Today, I have an appointment in the afternoon”

“You think...” he says and takes a deep breath. I look at him

“Is there a possibility to be pregnant?” He asks and I think about it

“I’m on the pill, but you never know” he looks nervous. I don’t say something he just holds my hands. After a while, he sighs

“I don’t have any problem if you are.” I look at him

“Really. You are the first woman that I make plans for the future. And in our future I see children. It just...” he says and rests his head on his palms. I caress his head and he lifts his head and he looks at me

“What if I’m not enough for him or her? What if I can’t be enough for you?” Oh my God, he looks stressed. I cup his face and make him look at me. But he looks down

“Baby look at me. Look at me” Finally his eyes are on me

“Baby, if I’m pregnant it will be the first time for me too. We will have each other ok? Let’s see first what's I have and we will take it from there” he finally smiles and I smile back.

“Ok. I’m sorry but I have learned now how is to be in a relationship and maybe a baby will come. I don’t want to fail you and the baby”

“We will be ok. And you will be a great dad.” I say and he kisses me

“And you will be a sexy mom,” he says and I giggle

“Thank you,” I say and I think of how Henry will look like a dad

“What are you thinking?” He asks and I look at him

“You will laugh. I think that you will be the definition of the sexy daddy in his forties” I say and I giggle. He laughs too and he hugs me

“When you call me daddy it will have a whole different meaning”

“Yeah. And I have already a problem with other women staring at you. With a baby, you will have more fans”

“I’m only yours. Come on let’s go feed you” he took my hands and we went to the kitchen. After breakfast, Henry went to the bedroom to get ready for work and I called Antony to tell him that I was taking the day off. I text my students from the afternoon class that I’m sick and we will replace the class another day. I stay home until my appointment, watching TV and resting. I was ready to leave when the front door opened.

“What are you doing here?” I ask Henry

“Just on time,” he says smiling

“I wanted to come with you to the doctor” Aww, he is so cute. I smile

“You are so cute. Sure you don’t have work”

“No. I left George to continue. If he needs something he will call. Come on” he says and he extends his hand. I take it and we go to the car.

We reach my doctor's office, and after the examination and the tests, we will wait for the results.

“So Chloe,” she says looking at me

“Henry” she looks at Henry. We hold hands waiting

“Congratulations. You will become parents” she says and I leave a breath that I was holding. Henry squeezed my hand

“You will have to call your gynecologist for an ultrasound and more tests. The only I can help for now is to give you instructions to help you with your nausea and dizziness. “

“Thank you Julia” she smiles

“I’m waiting for my friend to call me about her grandchild,” she says with a laugh. Dr. Stone, I called her Julia for years she is best friends with my mom.

“We will go to the gynecologist first and they will find it soon”

“OK. Don’t stress yourself and everything will be ok. Nice to meet you, Henry. Take care of our girl” Julia says and she shakes hands with both of us

“I will. Thank you.” Henry says and we leave. We enter the car and he takes my hand again. He kisses it and then kisses my lips.

“I love you,” he says and I smile at him

“I love you too. I know is so soon in our relationship but we will be ok” he smiles

“I know. I’m a little nervous about everything but I will be ok. I have to be ok”

“Henry I don’t want to feel that you have to stay with me. I want you to want it to stay”

“I want to stay with you. And with our baby. I’m worried about myself. I want to be able to support you in every way. And I’m scared. I don’t know what to do” he says and he is shaking

“Baby I don’t know what to do either. Pregnancy and motherhood are something new for me too. I’m scared too. But we have people in our lives, they will help us and support us in everything we will need.” He kisses my forehead

“No one is ready to be a parent. You learn to live with it and do everything you can for them. At least that’s what my mom told me one day”

“God I can’t believe that I’m going to be a father. George and Grace will be thrilled with the news.”

“I know. My family too. But don’t say anything yet. I want to go to the gynecologist first”

“Yes of course,” he says and she takes me for a dinner out.

‘What the doctor said?’

“Who is it?” Henry asks when I read the text from Mad

“Mad. She asks about the appointment” I say and I text her that everything is good, and I will tell her in person about the pregnancy.

“You told her?” He asks with a smile

“In person. I just wrote her that everything is good.” I say and I see him smiling

“You seem happy.”

“I’m still nervous but yes I’m happy.” He holds my hand

“The baby came earlier than we expected but I’m here for you. And I was thinking about it in the car”

“Tell me”

“I want you to come to live with me”

“Well that’s fast”

“I know but I want to live all the progress with you. The pregnancy, the birth. Everything” he is so sweet

“I guess that is fair. You are the daddy” I say teasing and he laughs. He kisses me and we start eating.

“You have to go to your apartment tonight?” He asks in the car and I can see he is sad

“Don’t look at me like that. With those puppy eyes. I have to talk to Mad. About the baby, about the moving” I say and he holds my hand.

“Right. When you will come?” He asks and I laugh

“I don’t know. In a few days. I have to pack my things”

“You will not do anything. I will arrange people for you to come and pack whatever you want”

“Fine. I know I can’t argue with you on that”

“You better not. I don’t hear anything about that” he says and after a kiss, he left me to my apartment. I go upstairs and I see Mad on the couch with Mike her boyfriend

“Hi guys”

“Hey. What happened? You didn’t say much in the text” Mad asks

I sit on the couch next to her and Mike is on the other side of her

“I should wait until the next appointment but I’m excited and I want to share it” They look at me

“I’m pregnant”

“Aaaaaa” Mad starts screaming and she hugs me

“Really?” Mike asks and I nod

“Congratulations”

“Thank you”

“Oh my God. I’m going to be an aunt. I’m so excited” she says and she hugs me again

“Henry? How does he take it?” She asks

“Good. He is nervous but he is happy”

“I thought you were on the pill?” Mad asks

“I am. But I guess he has strong sperm” I say and we laugh

“How are you?” Mike asks

“I’m ok. Of course, I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. But I always wanted kids and I’m glad that Henry and I are on the same page” We told a little bit more and I went to my bedroom. After a shower and a long talk with Henry, I fell asleep.
