Chapter 9

Henry POV

Today I and Chloe will have lunch with her parents. I’m a little worried, this is the first time that I met my girlfriend’s family. Is the first time that I’m with a woman seriously and I intend to stay with her. I'm ready a long time now for the big step in my life and I’m so lucky that I met Chloe. She is the woman that I can think of my life with her. I picture our life together with kids someday. And I am not scared when I make images with us together. Chloe is the ideal woman for me,

supportive, smiling, patient, and kind-hearted. I can be my true self with her and she expects me. I am grumpy, abrupt, and nervous sometimes because of work but she never lost her smile. And that smile makes me melt and forget everything.

I took my outfit options, Chloe said that her Sunday lunch at her parents' is casual and unofficial. Nothing like the MacLeans, we were formal even in the breakfast.

I decided to wear khaki pants with and black T-shirt and an unbuttoned Jean blouse on top.

On the way to Chloe’s apartment, I stop to buy flowers for her and her mother and to a patisserie to take dessert for the table. Sheen I park outside I texted Chloe that I’m waiting. I go out of the car and I lean on it waiting for her with her flowers. She sees and she smiles, her hair is down and she is wearing a gray-white striped skirt with a gray fitted top. I will sound cheesy if I say she is stunning? Maybe I will but I don’t care. I’m so f*****g lucky that I met this woman. I should have thanked Amber again if she had not insisted on going to her birthday party, and if she had not shown me the video of Chloe dancing, I wouldn't have seen her and been obsessed with her.

“Hi,” she says and I give her a kiss

“Hello, sugar. This is for you” I say and I give her the bouquet, she smells the gerberas and smiles at me

“Thank you. When you will stop bringing me flowers?”

“Never,” I say and she giggles

“Are you ready?” She asks

“As much as I could be,” I say with a sigh

“Don’t worry. My parents, they will love you” she says with a smile. We get in the car and I start driving. Chloe gives me directions to her parents' house.

“Relax. Be yourself and you will be fine” she says and I take a deep breath. She holds the box with the dessert and I hold the bouquet. She looks at me before she pushes the ringbell

“And besides that my parents trust me. They know I will never be with an unworthy man. So don’t worry” she says to me with a smile. I take a deep breath and I smile back. She pushes the bell and while William Harrison opens the door, he is a copy of his father but the younger version.

“Dad,” Chloe says excited and he hugs him

“This is Henny. I have talked to you about him”

“Yes, you did. Nice to meet you Henry” he says extending his hand

“Nice to meet you too Mr. Harrison”

“Call me William. Come in” We enter the apartment. From the entrance, I see in front of the living room, at the left is a hallway and I see four doors, which I guess are the bedrooms. We walk to the living room and next to the dining area. And from there I see the kitchen.

“Hi Mom,” Chloe said and she walked to her mom.

“Hello, honey. How are you?” She says and they hug.

“I’m good. Come meet Henry”

They walk to me and I say as I give her the flowers

“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Harrison. This is for you”

“Thank you so much, Henry. And please call me Bella. I’m not so old” she says laughing. She is not. She looks so much to Chloe, the Latina aura is all over her.

“Sure. Nice to meet you, Bella. Chloe talks with such beautiful words for both of you”

“The same for you. Sit down. Do you want something to drink before lunch?” Bella asks

“Do you want a beer?” Chloe tells me

“Sure,” I say with a smile

“Come sit here Henry,” William says and I walk to the living room. He starts asking me about me and my work. When Chloe joined us for a while he asked about us. As much as I could I relaxed. He looks serious about his daughter and I want to show him how much I care for Chloe.

After lunch, Chloe and her mom were in the kitchen cleaning and I was with William on the balcony.

“How serious you are about Chloe?” He asked me seriously and almost angrily

“I know about your past, I know your family. And I don’t want my Chloe to be hurt again” he says and he takes a sip from his beer.

“Is hard to describe how I feel, is a feeling that I never felt before.”

“What do you feel about Chloe being in your life?” I look inside the house Chloe is next to her mother talking and laughing. I smile and I say

“Her good is above mine, her happiness is above mine. I think first of all she and then me to be both well together. She is the truest thing I have, her laughter, the way she looks at me, hugs me, kisses me. Because she is who she is and makes me feel that way. “ I return look, William

“There were nights that I went to her apartment only for a hug. I only know that I want her in my life, that for the first time in my life, I feel something new. I don't know how to describe it. Just Chloe being in my life makes my days special and fantastic” I sigh

“You are many years with Chloe’s mom. You can understand how special is Chloe to me even if I can’t express it” he smiles and puts his hand on my shoulder

“I know what you mean Henry. I’ve been there before and I’m still in deep. That feeling never changed”

“Dad, Henry all good?” I hear Chloe and I look behind me

“Yes, we are fine,” I say and we walk inside

“We have to go. George and Amber wait for us” Chloe said

“Fine. We will wait for you again Henry. You are welcome anytime” Bella tells me

“Thank you, Bella. It was nice to meet you”

We said goodbye and we left for my brother’s apartment.
