“DETECTIVE CONWAY, THIS is highly irregular!”
Dan and I are standing on the portico of the home of the president of Myer College. The head of campus security, LeRoy Bustamante, is with us as Dan tries to explain what’s going on to a quite befuddled Jeffrey Connor, the new President of Myer College.
“I recognize that, President Connor,” Dan says, “but it’s of the utmost importance that you give us permission to dig up the flower bed behind your pool house.”
“I didn’t even know there was a flower bed behind the pool house,” he says, confused.
Dan’s beginning to lose his patience, so I say, “President Connor, I can assure you, Detective Conway would not ask if it weren’t important.”
