GossipThe sun rose at about five-thirty. Conner was already awake and used the time he had before breakfast was served to go for a walk around the grounds and enjoy the fresh air. I was out feeding kitchen scraps to the goat and a baby bottle of milk to the monkey. The gardener had tethered the goat in the orange grove. The monkey was sitting on her back. “What do we have here?” asked Conner as he picked an orange and cut it into quarters with his pocket knife. “The monkey's mother was killed by a hunter. We took her in and she's become emotionally attached to the goat. It's like they are family. She rides on her back most of the day. She drinks milk from a bottle now, but we plan to teach her to use a cup when she's older.” Conner shared his orange with me and helped feed the goat. The
