The GeneralFriday morning Lyla organized her maintenance crew to install the spare flow meter in the main feed line. It meant shutting down the plant for a couple of hours which in turn would mean lost production. She should have notified her direct boss, Konaté, but was still too angry to talk to him. And besides, she was afraid he would tell her not to bother installing the second meter. She would bury the interruption under routine maintenance. It would take about twenty-four hours of operation to have enough data to determine if there was a discrepancy between the meters.
Conner spent the morning with the geologist reviewing the ongoing exploration drilling program and the mine plans for the future. When he finished, he went back to the plant where he and Lyla re-checked their calcula
