Chapter 3

657 Words
It was the weekend, and Jasmine decided to visit the university library to gather some books related to her coursework. The library was usually a haven of quiet, and today it was even more peaceful, with only a few students scattered throughout the vast space. As she walked through the aisles, Jasmine’s eyes widened in surprise when she spotted Radley sitting at a table in the far corner. He was engrossed in a stack of philosophy books, his brow furrowed in concentration. A part of her felt a thrill at the sight of him, but she quickly reminded herself to stay focused on her studies. Jasmine chose a seat directly across from him, her heart racing slightly. She had no intention of interrupting his reading, but there was something magnetic about being in his presence. Radley didn’t notice her at first, completely absorbed in his book. She took a deep breath and pulled out her own materials, determined to work on her assignments. As she began to write, Jasmine felt the familiar rhythm of her thoughts flowing onto the page. She was so immersed in her work that she didn’t pay attention to Radley, who was glancing up occasionally. He observed her, intrigued by her focus. While many female students sought his attention, Jasmine was different. She seemed entirely absorbed in her studies, almost oblivious to his presence. Radley couldn’t help but wonder about her. He had only learned her name during their brief encounter at the bubble tea shop, and now he found himself curious about this girl who was so dedicated to her work. From the titles of the books scattered on her table, he recognized that she was studying the same major as him. As Jasmine scribbled notes, her expression was one of determination, her brow slightly knitted in concentration. There was a beauty in her simplicity a natural charm that drew Radley in. He found himself captivated not just by her looks, but by the intensity with which she approached her studies. This wasn’t the typical student seeking to impress him; this was someone genuinely passionate about learning. Time passed, and the library remained quiet, save for the soft rustling of pages. Radley’s interest deepened as he watched Jasmine. He noticed the way her hair fell gently over her face when she leaned in to read, and how she occasionally bit her lip in thought. It was a sight he hadn’t expected to find so intriguing. Jasmine, lost in her own world, remained unaware of the effect she was having on Radley. She was focused on her assignments, but a small part of her was aware of his presence, the way he seemed to dominate the quiet space with his reserved energy. It stirred something within her, a mix of curiosity and nervousness. Finally, after a while, Radley closed his book and set it aside. He couldn’t help but break the silence. "You’re really focused," Radley said, his tone softer than usual. Jasmine looked up, startled. "Oh! I didn’t mean to disturb you," She replied, her cheeks flushing slightly. "You’re not," He assured her, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I just wasn’t expecting someone to be so dedicated on a weekend." "I have a lot to catch up on," She admitted, her eyes meeting his for the first time. "But I’m glad to see you here." Radley raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really? You’re not just here to admire the view?" Jasmine chuckled softly, the tension easing. "No, definitely not. I’m here to learn." Their conversation lingered in the air, a tentative bridge forming between them. Radley realized that Jasmine was more than just a pretty face; there was depth to her that he wanted to explore. As they exchanged a few more words, the library seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in a moment that hinted at the beginnings of something deeper.
