Chapter 4

613 Words
As the weeks passed, Jasmine and Radley found themselves in a comfortable routine. Their weekend meetings at the library turned into a cherished ritual, where they would dive into their studies and share snippets of their lives. Jasmine never anticipated that her quiet weekends would evolve into something so meaningful, especially with someone as intriguing as Radley. Their conversations became more relaxed, flowing naturally from one topic to another. Jasmine discovered that Radley had a sharp wit and a passion for philosophy that matched her own curiosity. She found herself looking forward to these moments, where laughter mingled with serious discussions, and a connection began to blossom. One day, as they were both studying at the library, Radley looked up from his notes and said. "You know, I never thought I’d enjoy the weekends so much." Jasmine smiled, surprised by his admission. "Neither did I. It’s nice to have someone to share it with." The following week, the cafeteria was unusually loud, filled with the chatter of students enjoying their lunches. Jasmine and her friend Kelly were seated at their usual table when, to Jasmine's astonishment, Radley appeared, holding a tray of food. "Mind if I join you?" He asked, his eyes flickering between Jasmine and Kelly. Kelly’s expression shifted from surprise to delight. "Of course! We’d love to have you!" Kelly replied, her curiosity piqued. She could sense the chemistry building between the two, and her mind raced with possibilities. Radley’s gaze, however, remained fixed on Jasmine. He noticed how her cheeks flushed slightly as she looked up at him, her eyes wide with surprise. There was something endearing about her shy demeanor, and Radley couldn’t help but smile. As they settled into conversation, Jasmine focused on her meal, feeling a mix of excitement and embarrassment. She was acutely aware of Radley’s presence beside her, the way he leaned in slightly as he spoke, making her heart flutter. Kelly, sensing the growing tension, decided to give them some space. "I’ll go grab a drink," she said with a knowing smile, getting up from the table. As soon as Kelly left, the atmosphere shifted. Jasmine felt the weight of Radley’s gaze on her, and she looked up, trying to steady her nerves. "What are you doing here?" Jasmine asked, her voice a bit shy. Radley chuckled lightly. "I thought I’d break my usual routine. Besides, I wanted to see how you were doing." Jasmine’s heart raced at his words. "I’m good! Just busy with assignments." He nodded, leaning back in his chair. "You’re always so dedicated. I admire that about you." Jasmine felt a warm blush creep across her cheeks. "Thanks. I just want to do well in school." Radley smiled, his eyes sparkling with interest. "Well, if you ever need help, I’m just a library visit away." As the conversation flowed, Jasmine found herself relaxing. They shared stories, exchanged jokes, and discovered common interests. Radley’s laughter was infectious, and she couldn’t help but laugh along, her earlier shyness gradually fading. Unbeknownst to Jasmine, Radley was struck by her genuine spirit. In that moment, he realized he wanted to be around her more often, to explore the connection they were building. He liked how she brought out a different side of him a side that was softer and more open. As the lunch hour came to an end, Jasmine felt a sense of contentment. Radley had brightened her day, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something special was developing between them. For Radley, it was clear; he wanted to be more than just a friend to Jasmine. The thought made him smile inwardly, excited about what the future might hold for them.
