Ishanvi had taken the responsibility to organise everything for Parthiv and Trisha's wedding along with Nurvi, Riddhima and Neer. They barely had a month's time to prepare everything, thus everyone was working around the clock, especially Ishanvi. From planning all the events to meeting the vendors and finalising everything, she had to do it all while she managed her job at Écrits and her University classes. Although Neer was involved in the arrangements as well, Ishanvi did her best to keep her communication with him to bare minimum. She successfully avoided him as much as she could without being obvious about it. Nobody saw her keeping her distance from Neer except Neer himself. He noticed how she behaved completely opposite around him since the engagement. But he knew, he himself was to be blamed for this change in her behaviour! Ishanvi had to make frequent trips to Chandigarh as well to inspect the arrangements as well as to meet with the vendors. Ishanvi had suggested going for the local vendors because not only would it be cost-effective (not that money was an issue) but it would also give the local wedding industry a boost if the Royal family hired their services. The Oberois accepted her suggestions with wide arms like always. In every subject related to the wedding —no matter how small it was— Ishanvi's opinion was asked, they consulted everything from decoration and catering to seating arrangements and wedding hampers with her before finalising anything. Mr and Mrs Oberoi were grateful for the day they had met Ishanvi for the first time. The meticulous way she was planning and handling everything along with managing her studies and job had left them filled with admiration and respect for her. Not only this, she was polite with the staff and treated them with respect as well just how she treated the family members. And Mrs Pavitra Oberoi had taken a special liking to her. She already loved and adored her, and didn't miss an opportunity to shower praises at her. Her husband, Mr Ritesh Oberoi, also noticed how this girl was managing so many things single-handedly. With Ishanvi on their side, they didn't need a wedding planner this time as she had put her planner shoes on. This made Riddhima sulk and she was once found complaining to her *bade Papa* and *badi maa* about not finding Ishanvi earlier so that they didn't have to hire a huge team of wedding planners for her own wedding as Ishanvi would've handled everything! The Oberois overall were happy to have Ishanvi as their daughter-in-law, well would-be daughter-in-law but for them she was already an integral part of their family. And Ishanvi treated them like her own family as well. But their happiness was hurting some people like a thorn in the eye. They did everything in their might to snatch the position and power bestowed upon Ishanvi but all their tricks backfired on them. Be it manipulating Parthiv for the civil wedding or trying to take all the blame like a good wife when confronted for their sudden marriage or saying that she wants a simple wedding and nothing fancy— she did it all but it all turned out to work in Ishanvi's favour while she was made a villain in the eyes of many family members. And she did it all on her mother's instructions just to get the position that was rightfully Ishanvi's. Trisha and her mother wanted Trisha to enjoy the privileges reserved for Ishanvi as the eldest daughter-in-law of the family. When they heard about Neer and Ishanvi's wedding, they knew they had to act now. That's why they devised the plan to get Trisha and Parthiv register their marriage in the marriage registrar office first. This way, Trisha would enter the Royal family before Ishanvi and by the time Ishanvi married into the family, Trisha would've found her foothold in the family already and would coax everyone to her side and rule in the house. If not the future Queen then at least being the first daughter-in-law of the family was their strategy. But all their plans went awry when Pavitra made it clear that "it doesn't matter if Trisha marries into the family first, she'll always be the younger daughter-in-law of the family and Ishanvi will always be the elder daughter-in-law. No one can take Ishanvi's place, even if one devises as many strategies as one wants!" Although she didn't say anything clearly, the mother-daughter duo understood instantly that Pavitra was talking about them only. She seemed to have read their intentions quite well and that's why she had indirectly warned them to not try to do anything stupid. Now the mother-daughter duo couldn't do anything other than sulking inwardly as they did everything as per the Royal family wishes. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: After almost a month of planning and preparation, Parthiv and Trisha's wedding date finally approached. As per Trisha's wishes, all the pre-wedding functions were going to be held in a resort where both the families and their guests were staying. In her words, she wanted "everything to be simple" as she didn't "want to go overboard or splurge unnecessarily". Upon hearing those words, Riddhima had mumbled not-so-subtly, "yeah, booking the luxurious resort for the pre-wedding festivities and the most expensive hotel of the city for the reception doesn't cost much, right?" Nurvi had almost laughed out loud but Mrs Oberoi's glare had made her suppress her laughter. Trisha's face had morphed into an ugly sight but she had to be quiet if she wanted to get married into the Royal family. The Oberois had requested Ishanvi to arrive a couple of days before the ceremonies. Ishanvi obliged and reached the wedding venue and keeping her luggage in the room, she immediately set out to overlook the arrangements for the *mehendi* ceremony that was being held the next day. Riddhima too had arrived in India a week before the wedding with her husband and daughter, who was the apple of everyone's eyes. Nobody would let the poor Paridhi rest ever since she came here, they all played with her all the time. Riddhima and Nurvi joined Ishanvi in final inspection as they made sure everything was perfect for tomorrow's event. Ishanvi was already given all the respect and prerogative she deserved as the eldest daughter-in-law as well as the future Queen of Punjab. It was quite new for her when the resort staff and the staff from the palace bowed down to her at every encounter and it made her feel uncomfortable as well. She wasn't used to people bowing to her with deference all the time. She then asked Mrs Oberoi if it's okay for them to not bow to her every time they saw her. Mrs Oberoi understood her discomfort and asked the supporting staff to not bow to her more than once a day. Ishanvi smiled gratefully at her would-be mother-in-law who pinched her cheeks playfully in response. Ishanvi was careful to not cross paths with Neer but it was inevitable given Neer was the groom's elder brother and her fiancé as well. And having to perform some rituals together didn't help her either. The *mehendi* was an intimate affair with only close family members in attendance. Trisha had applied pretty *henna* designs on her hands and legs. Ishanvi, Riddhima and Nurvi too had got pretty designs on their palms. Music played in the background and Trisha's cousins performed on some songs as well, which was followed by a surprise performance by Ishanvi and then everyone danced together. After the mehendi ceremony, the three girls were going back to Nurvi's room for Riddhima's dress trials as a couple of her dresses needed alterations, when they met with Neer in the corridor. He was doing something on his phone and hadn't seen them yet. "Bhai, you shouldn't have missed the mehendi today!" Nurvi told her brother. "I thought it was attended by females only?" Neer frowned slightly. "*Arre*, don't you know you are supposed to sneak into these functions meant for girls only to find out what happens in these gatherings? Haven't you watched those movies where the hero enters stealthily to watch his heroine perform?" Nurvi asked rhetorically. Neer shook his head in negative. "Even Rachit jiju had sneaked into Riddhima Di's mehendi and had even applied henna on her palms," Nurvi recalled dreamily. "All the boys —especially the ones getting married soon— want to know what we girls do in these functions and here you are!" she complained. "I'm not really interested to know. I'm not the one getting married, Parthiv is!" Neer replied, uninterestedly. "But I'm sure you would be interested to know about Ishanvi's surprise dance performance," Riddhima spoke up as she gave Neer a knowing look. At this Neer's eyes snapped to Ishanvi who was staring at Riddhima with eyes widened to the size of tennis balls. Ishanvi had prepared a surprise dance performance for Trisha for her mehendi and she left everyone awestruck with her sensuous dance moves. Since it was an all female function, Ishanvi didn't mind performing a sensuous dance for the audience. But there was no way she was going to let Neer find out about it. "Surprise dance performance?" Neer queried, his eyes still transfixed on Ishanvi who was tugging at Riddhima's dress. "Yeah, she had prepared a sens—" before Riddhima could finish Ishanvi interrupted her. "Di, we are getting late for the dress trial," Ishanvi said as she held Riddhima's hand and began to tug her away. A smile threatened to dance on his lips but he kept his face straight. "Di, don't forget to send me her dance clip," Neer told Riddhima as Ishanvi dragged her away from there. "Oh, for sure I'll," Riddhima's faint reply was heard floating in the corridor. Once they disappeared from sight, Neer finally let the smile bloom on his handsome face. He shook his head at her antics and how she had turned the deep shade of beetroot, yep he didn't miss a single detail about her. *"What made her blush so furiously?"* he wondered as he walked away in the opposite direction. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: . . . . .
