Chapter 3 Denied Affection

1364 Words
Karen staggered back and her eyes flickered down to the video, she felt her head spinning and she was at a loss of words. How David had gotten this video in that short amount of time was what she had not expected or imagined, she had wanted to tell him, but did not know he would find out this way, she did not even know that the men made a video in the first place. "How did... I mean… how did you get this, David?" Karen muttered, unable to find her voice. David shook his head at the pale look on her face and his heart was filled with rage, the corner of his lips twitched. "Karen, this is a video of you and your lover making out in my house, in our bedroom, Karen… how could you, how could you do this to me, to us?" David asked furiously and his hand curled into a fist. If he hadn't watched this video, if he hadn't seen this, he would never have believed that Karen could do something like this, and now looking at her, he only felt disgusted. Karen could find no words right now, terror filled her heart, it felt like her whole world has capsized and hearing the pain in his voice sent cold shiver down her spine. David glanced down at her "You are still in your night robe, Karen, is that how important he is to you? You told me last night that you had a headache when I wanted to touch you, was it all because of this?" He yelled again, glaring at her. "No… no… no… David, this is not what you think, you… got to believe me… last night I had a headache and it has nothing to do with this besides, I do not know who this man is…" Karen stammered regretting now that she had denied David s*x last night, she knew he felt bad but was hoping to make it up to him today when he comes home from work, just as she has done in times before. "You do not know who this man is, and yet you moan to him like this?" David asked, playing the video again and holding it out for her to see. "Let me explain, David…" "Look at this, Karen," he yelled again, frightening her, "do I look like a fool to you?" He asked her furiously, running his palms through his hair. David put his hand down to his side and clenched the phone in his hand. "You know what, it is a good thing I got to see this, at least I know now that my mum was right when she said I should not marry a woman like you, what was the words she used again?" He raised his eyes to the left trying to recall and his lips parted as he tilt his head and gazed down at her. "A low life…" The corner of his lips were raised in scorn. "She was right when she said I should not get married to a low life like you, Karen, what was I even thinking?" Karen shook her head profusely and her eyes were clouded with tears. "No, David, it is not what you think… please allow me to explain…" She begged hating how he changed from being a sweet loving husband to this within a short space of time. "No…" David yelled, cutting her shut, "you do not have to explain anything, Karen, because you are leaving my house this minute," He grabbed her arms almost immediately, ignoring her plea. "Please… David, it's not what you think, I do not know who that man is… let me explain… give me a chance to explain…" Karen kept saying while David drags her out of the house. "Get out of my house, Karen, I do not want to see you anywhere near here, go and live with that lover of yours…" David told her furiously after dragging her out. "David… no…" Karen said walking behind him as he turns towards the house, "please… honey… let me explain… give me a chance to explain… I do not know who that man is, I swear it… you are the only man I have been with all my life, David, please listen to me..." Karen cried still walking behind her husband, but David paid no attention to her and slammed the front door in her face as his heart is already broken after seeing the video of her with another man making out in their bed… Karen banged her hands on the front door for a while still pleading for David to listen to her, that's when Mica, her best friend from the same orphanage poped up in her head. "Yes, Mica," she needs to go talk to Mica to help her talk to her husband, hopefully he will listen to her friend Mica, David respects Mica and he is quite fond of her, hopefully all this will end as quickly as it had started, and with this, she rushed back to her car and drove off to find Mica… *** "Mica… Mica…" Karen called after she walked into Mica's small apartment. She had called her immediately she drove off from her house and was told that she would find her at home. "Karen dear," Mica replied walking out from her small sized kitchen, she was expecting her so she left the front door open. "Maca…" Karen called again, throwing her arms around her friend's neck with tears in her eyes and her voice too hoarse to be heard. "What happened, Karen, what's the matter with you? You sounded odd on the phone, and you are doing the same now" Mica asked, wrapping her arms around Karen too. "Tell me, Karen, why do you look so pale like this, this is unlike you and you are still in your night robe?" Mica asked her again peering inquisitively at her while holding her hands too after unwrapping her arms around her neck. "Mica, my friend, I have gone pale in one morning…" Karen replied as tears streamed down her face. "Come, tell me about it," Mica held her hand and turned around, leading her to sit on the only piece of old sofa in her small living room, while she pulled a wooden stool to sit beside her. "Go on dear, tell me, why are you here looking like this, you said you were going to visit the orphanage today what happened?" Mica asked again, still peering at Karen. "Mica, I do not understand anything that has just happened to me, I can't understand any of it," Karen said, shaking her head and wiping tears off her face with the back of her palm. "David had gone to work this morning as usual, I went to the bathroom to take my bath only to find that the water isn't running… I called the water Agency to find out what's wrong but someone answered and said they are going to send a few of their men to come check it out in my house..." "Go on Karen, what happened then?" Mica asked, sounding curious when Karen paused to wipe tears off her face again… They both heard the doorbell and turned around to the door as Karen turned to her friend who got up immediately. "Oh, please excuse me, let me get the door," Mica told Karen when they heard a knock on her door. "Are you expecting anyone?" Karen asked her, still wiping off the tears on her face. "No, Karen," she replied, "who could be knocking on my door at this hour?" She asks and hurries over to the door. Mica gently pushed the door open and her eyes fell on the man standing by the door with a huge grin on his face and she quickly frowned at him as she glanced back to make sure Karen wasn't looking. "Smith?" Mica called immediately, surprised to see him standing there in front of her, "what are you doing here? You should have called first," Mica told him, immediately as she stepped out and closed the door behind her.
