Two Vipers Meet

After Dorian left the room, Tania sat up in her bed. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her and she gripped the edge of the bed to steady herself. The pitiful contents in her stomach surged, threatening to spew across the room but she swallowed it back down. She had been listening intently to Dorian when he was talking so she knew where her phone “might” be. If she had a chance at all, she had to get to her phone. When she slipped over the edge of her bed, she didn’t realize how high it was and stumbled, falling to the floor in a crash. Holding her breath she waited for the impending footsteps to the door but all that came back was silence. Great. I have to hurry. She crawled slowly towards the area where Dorian was talking from earlier. Soon she bumped into soft furniture. Resting her head against the sofa, her hands swept over the surface until it made its way up and felt its way around the cushion. When her fingertips brushed against something hard, her hands shot towards the object and grabbed it like a lifeline. Feeling around, she pushed and tapped on the screen but there wasn’t any haptic buzzing. He must have turned it off so the police couldn’t ping my phone to find my location. Tania held down the power button for a couple of seconds and released then felt her phone buzz to life. Clutching the phone to her breast she sat huddled in the room waiting impatiently for her phone to boot up. *** “Wow, she actually got to her phone.” “You think her blindness is fake?” “No, she was crawling around like a blind person...” “What is going on?” All the henchmen who were crowded around the monitor screen turned towards the door at Dorian’s question. “We are just monitoring the hostage, boss. She got her phone.” Dorian walked up to the screen and glanced down to see Tania’s pitiful form curled up miserably on the floor with both hands clutching her cell phone to her breast. “Hmph. Maybe I have been too nice to her,” Dorian mused. “Let’s see who she decides to call.” *** Lying on her side on the plush carpet, Tania held her phone tightly, counting the throbs drilling through her skull to pass the time. After a while, Tania swiped up on her screen and felt around. When her fingers touched the screen the familiar haptic tremors on her fingertips told her she was on the login screen. She tilted the phone away from her face so it wouldn’t unlock. She would never be able to feel her way to the emergency dial button. Tania cursed herself for not remembering the button order for SOS mode. The only thing she could do was try to call out using the emergency call button but was it on the left-hand corner or right-hand? She fumbled around until her ringtone sounded. She immediately swiped right to connect. “Hello?” she groaned softly. “Tania?” Her eyes widened at the deep voice that she was so familiar with, her idol and favorite actor, Theo. “Please call the police.” “What’s wrong? Where are you?” Theo walked out of his private room and made his way into a room filled with computers and devices. Clicking his fingers he motioned for a technician and pointed to his phone. “I have been kidnapped. Just connect the call with the police. They can track my phone.” “I’ll be right there! Are you okay?!” Tania could hear the anguish in his tone but for once his voice was grating her nerves. She hissed into the phone, trying to ignore the pain in her head. “Please, don’t waste time. Just call the police.” “Where are you? Are you safe?” Theo asked persistently. “I don’t know! I’m in a room! I just need to call the police.” “You can call later! Tell me…” “I can’t call anyone. I can’t… I can’t see,” Tania choked on a sob. There was a long pause. “I’m pinging your phone right now. I can find you.” “No,” Tania screamed, “Don’t come! Send the police. Just send the police! They killed someone. They’re gangsters.” “I can save you, Tania.” “Don’t come,” Tania whimpered, sobbing openly, “I don’t even know you. Don’t come. They want you. They told me to call you. Don’t come, please don’t come. You’ll get hurt.” “We found her, boss.” Theo turned to his subordinate, “Where is she?” “It’s in a luxury villa, owned by… Dorian Brown.” Theo hummed. “Gather the men, we are going for a house visit.” Theo spoke back into the phone, “I’m coming, Tania.” Then he hung up. *** Tania was horrified. She screamed at her phone, “ Don’t come! Don’t come! Hello!?” The disconnecting beep was like a death sentence. She dropped her phone and curled up into a ball, sobbing. “What have I done!? Ugh” Tania, overcome by distress, retched vomiting over herself and the carpet. The putrid stench and hot sticky gunk that clung to her face was so disgusting it made her spew everything from her body. Tania tried to move away from the repulsive discharge but her headache was unbearable, forcing her to lay in her waste. Tears of frustration and disgust flowed down freely mixing in with the puddle of bile and half-digested particles. *** “Ugh, f*****g hell! I am NOT cleaning that s**t up!” Inside the monitoring room, the men groaned in unison at the disgusting sight. “The maids are going to kill her.” Dorian sat on the sofa at the back of the monitoring room, swirling his glass of whiskey as he watched the display on the big screen. “Get someone to go in and clean her up then take her into a clean room. We will be having visitors soon.” The men shuddered in disgust, imagining the horrific smell that awaited them. Dorian smirked as he downed the fiery contents of his glass in one go. So she truly doesn’t know Theo all that well. Then why was Theo so bent on coming to save her? How odd. Regardless, he achieved his original goal. It was time to see what Theo could offer him in return for his chubby little girlfriend. She is kind of cute once you talk to her. He mused to himself. *** A long trail of black cars pulled up to Dorian’s villa gates. Two heavily armed guards walked up to the tinted windows and rapped against the glass. “Lower the windows. Who are you? Do you have an appointment?” The window rolled down to reveal well-dressed men with sunglasses. “We’re here to meet with Mr. Dorian Brown to discuss the release of a hostage.” The guards exchanged a look and talked into his earpiece. Getting an affirmation, he nodded to the driver. “Only one car can go inside, everyone else must stay out here.” The men in the car exchanged looks with one another. “Go in.” The two men in the front nodded and drove up to the gate. Theo talked into his earpiece, “Hold your position out here. If you don’t hear from me or I am not out by an hour, rush the gates and kill everyone.” “Yes, sir.” Theo watched the iron-wrought open slowly with a grim smile set on his face. Finally, the two vipers meet face to face.
